Thought I’d start a thread for FA cup third round next weekend.

Non League clubs fixtures as below:

Borehamwood vs AFC Wimbledon
Kidderminster vs Reading
Chelsea vs Chesterfield
Yeovil vs Bournemouth

I’ll be making the journey to Stamford bridge with 5800ish other Spireites.

Quite jealous, these are the ties that live long in the memory- particularly Chesterfield. That should be a brilliant day whatever the result. I'll be cheering you all on next weekend, particularly Kidderminster.
That's the spirit. All tinpot aren't we.

Absolutely. We can all.bicker down here but against all.those other wankers we all stand together- they don't know the pain.
Gunning vs Werner
Curtis Weston vs Mount

Its going to be some spectacle. I’m just hoping for a goal. Would be nice to go 0-1 up but I’ll take a goal at any stage. On the pitch if we win.

No preparation for us having not played since the 18th. But Reading have 4 games in 12 days so they might rest for us. Praying Boris doesn't ban fans before Saturday

Gunning guaranteed red card if he plays, absolutely guaranteed. Two yellows in first 15 mins trying to stop anyone with a little bit of pace

Yeah - he will deffo play won’t he. Captains armband too probably. Tbf to Gunning I was a big fan last season - he’s a winner, but he’s so out of shape at the moment I’d rather we started Grimes.

Even yesterday when Grimes came on, I felt so much more comfortable. He dominated Omatayo for KL in the air whereas Gunning had won hardly anything against him!

It’s like you said, Gunning just doesn’t seem anywhere near fit yet. As shown by the fact he was blowing out his arse and had to come off after around 60 mins yesterday!

I can’t wait barring any last minute intervention from Boris. 6000 away fans in the capital for a 5.30 KO, going to be a belter. Could lose 10-0 for all I care, taking my dad so just going to enjoy it

We all know we're gonna lose, and badly, Chelsea will play a bunch of youth players but their youth set up is next level isn't it. Probably not many names we recognise in their line up but will be future stars. Will be a fantastic day out though and just have to cross our fingers Boris doesn't make any decisions until after the game! Would be just our luck

Quite amusing that Borehamwood have still not sold out their ground for their big cup tie. Their PA announcer was begging us at the end of the match to buy tickets for it!

Wishing all Chesterfield fans as good a day as this in your third round match....one of my many favourite Southend memories this.....
Was fun pissing off the Chelsea fans on the tube:

"One shot, we only need one shot"

We then went up 1-0 in the replay, Barrett should have made it 2-0. Lost 4-1 in the end and Joe Cole did his knee

Oh happy days....pissed them off pre match walking up the King's Road chanting....

"You're not real fans!"
You're not real fans!"

** Take note to the above Spirites lol.**

Brilliant to only be losing 1 nil up to the closing stages, but to equalise OMG! Went effing mad from then on. Even more after Mildenhall's wonder save a minute later!

Back to the pub and more piss taking, just a marvellous day.

I love those kinds of memories. One of my favourite moments following Wrexham was when we went 1 nil up against Man United at Old Trafford back in 95. Yes they went on to spank us 5-2 but it was a fantastic day.

You also had the 1-0 win against the Gooners, the same day we were losing at Everton l believe.

in 92? it was 2-1, everyone forgets Stevie Watkins winner because of how good Mickey Thomas' free kick was- which was actually an equaliser. Alan Smith had scored just before half time.

We’ve not had a tie like this in my lifetime.

We drew 4-4 at Anfield in about 92 and lost the replay at home but apart from the FA Cup Semi in 97 (where we never really had a big game away from home) it’s been a long time coming for us so just going to enjoy it

Liverpool was a 2 legged tie

I bunked off school to go to Anfield on the coach from the Racecourse (what a pub that could have been for the new ground if it could have hung on a bit longer).

Bolton away was the best game of the cup run for me, even better than the semi. People forget they were running away with the Championship at the time, no one expected us to win and we completely bossed them for an hour or so.

You're right though, we haven't had many games as big as this for a while. Derby away in the cup is probably the most recent.

It’s massive for both supporters (day out) and the club (financially).

The closer we get to Saturday the more my realism goes out the window and the more I think we can get a result. I’ve gone from expecting us to lose 5-1 to a ‘it’s only 11v11 and a bag of air’ position already. By 5pm Saturday and after 10 pints I’ll be convinced Kabongo will lead us to glory.

Such is the life of a fan I guess.

I reckon you’ll take the lead. Still lose, obviously, but can just see it.

It’s nice to finally be able to enjoy the build up to this game now that we’ve got those potential ‘banana skin’ league games out the way that could have been affected had we taken our eye off the ball and focused on Chelsea away too early. Turns out we’ve managed to take 7 pts out of 9 which included a tough away game at Grimsby and crucial top of table game vs Halifax… got to be pleased with that!

I’ve seen a few people on our message board suggesting we should rest some key players to save them for the league games which I think is absolutely ridiculous… imagine sitting Tshimanga down and telling him he’s not starting at Stamford Bridge cos we need to save him for Maidenhead… (a game that isn’t played until 10 days after the cup game either!!)

My line up would be:

Loach
Grimes - Gunning - Whittle
King - Oyeleke - Weston - Miller
Kellerman - Khan
Tshimanga

Subs:
Minter
Kerr
Croll (if fit)
Maguire (if fit)
McCourt
Mandeville
Payne
Tyson
Asante

I wouldn’t be against playing two upfront and putting Asante up there with Tshimanga, which would mean one of Khan / Kellerman dropping out the XI.

Reality is we’re likely to get a pasting, but I hope we go there and give the best account of ourselves that we possibly can!! Come out of it unscathed injury wise and with a respectable score line (anything under 6 ) and I’ll take that all day long!! Roll on Saturday..

I’m half expecting tuchel to play a side of complete kids first half, us go 0-1 up. Then chelsea make 5 half time subs of near first teamers and we get an absolute spanking second half.

Would be fun to try and predict the Chelsea starting XI… their squad is absolutely huge when you take their u23s into account aswell

Will wait to see who they play against Spurs tonight and then I’ll have a crack at it

I put mine on BB and I’d be going for:
Loach
King Kerr Grimes Whittle Miller
Weston Oyeleke
Kellerman Mandeville
Tshimanga

We will need legs in midfield as neither Oyeleke or Weston are the most mobile, so I’d avoid two up top and have Kellerman and Mandeville in the middle for nuisance value so we can at the very least pack out the midfield. You could swap Mandy for Khan but he probably deserves his place after recent performances.

I’ve left gunning out based on the fact he is clearly unfit and the likes of Werner running at him or behind him gives me nightmares - but he will probably start.

Whatever the result - we’ve already won. The money we get from this will probably be double the money we paid for Kabby and then some.

Seems impossible to say what sort of team Reading will put out. When it comes to cup competitions their current manager has a history of playing the kids and they've got a lot of games coming up so they might want to keep the first team fresh and rest them.

But they're in an awful financial position so the money might be well needed so they could go full strength.

Their fans seem honestly worried about Saturday hopefully we start fast like we did against Halifax and shock them.

Mendy, James, Chilwell, Chalobah, Christensen and Werner all not playing tonight. Not sure on all the reasons but think Werner has COVID.

Think James and Chilwell are long term injured, and I seem to remember Christensen hobbling off the other night aswell. Werner if fit I reckon starts against us 100%…
