I think most are hoping for a Bradford vs Preston final at Wembley. The plucky underdogs who haven't had the most inspiring league season but are showing the odd glimpse of past glories, with their fans dreaming again of their 1999 success there's a chance of a unlikely return to European football.... up against the might of Bradford City.

True.

Best of luck to Preston tonight, think they have a chance of a draw at least.

So United at home tonight, the hype round these parts has got a bit tedious at times but when all is said and done it is a massive game for us.

I'm fully expecting to get smashed but surely i've got to see Preston cause a cup upset at some point in my lifetime...

I read yesterday that since we were relegated in the 60's we've had 28 cup games against top division sides and we've won.....3, one of them was against that abysmal Derby side in 2008.

As for the team, Johnson & Johnstone are cup-tied, Beckford is still out with an ear infection and Hugill is still on the comeback trail. I think we might stick to the 3-5-2 system we used at Chesterfield and match them up, but guessing Grayson's team selections is like plucking out the lottery numbers these days.

Stuckmann
Clarke, Huntington, Wright
Wiseman, Welsh, Kilkenny, Laird
Gallagher
K. Davies, Garner

Hudson, Woods, King, Brownhill, Humphrey, Reid, Ebanks-Blake

Rooney, Di Maria, Van Persie, Mata & Falcao is a scary thought but you've got to feel that defence could be got at.

1-3 United.

Quite fancy PNE to get a draw toneete!

And we'll draw Reading away in the next round on a Monday night.

Bradford have done well but to suggest they are not just another run of the mill League One side because of those results is delusional. It is ok playing well in a "cup final" where you raise your game but its about what you do week in week out, giant killing is one thing but how you do on a Tuesday away at Colchester in January is what you get judged on.

They looked very average against us just over a week ago and judging by the fact they are in the position they are and their results in the league they are a run of the mill League One side. However it is pleasing to see a League One side cause two huge shocks in the cup and long may it continue, I wasn't alive when we did a similar run to reach the semi's (where we were robbed!) but i'd sure love to have experienced it.

it's proper weird how 'for the taking' Man Utd are. Like, I'd fancy Preston less if they were at home to Hull or something...and Man Utd are in great form too. I'm not even sure people would be shocked if Preston won

Unfortunately for us I think Van Gaal will have learned his lesson from MK Dons & Cambridge.

I know its all light hearted banter but in a way I'd say BT were more in a wrong to reject Bradford.

The BBC have at least got another potential giant killing and had a localish derby although a pretty rubbish game.

We're enjoying it whilst it's lasting. People forget that Parky took over us when we were literally bottom of the pile, nearly going into the Conference. 3 years down the line we've got to a major cup final, won promotion and now steadily building foundations for another push for promotion. Add to that this cup run, and you never know another promotion (although I very much doubt it) this season and it's not all that bad. If that means we're a run of the mill League 1 club than so be it.

It's just good than we're finally doing well on the pitch and now off the pitch. I feel we're slowly working are way back up the leagues and just hope we can keep hold of Parkinson and the gang to do that.

We are 2 points off the play-offs with 2 games in hand and in the quarters of the FA Cup but on TFF/OFF that of course means you're average at best.

Reading's a dodgy one, hopefully we can get over 20k in the ground and get a big game atmosphere going as we seem to thrive on it.

That was quite clearly offside. If Rooney wasn't there it wouldn't have trickled in. Dunno what Keown is on about.

From a purely selfish point of view, I hope you beat Reading as we would be visiting your place 4 days before your semi final.
Go the Bantams. ;)

Why the fuck are Keown and the other commentator attempting to justify Rooney's dive for United's penalty? It was a blatant dive, end of story, to say it should still have been a penalty even though there was no contact is bollocks.

Two shocking decisions with the first and third goals by the officials.

I think we got our tactics right for the most part, stand off them until they get to the danger zones and then hit them. I said before the game that i'd just be happy to celebrate a goal and we got it, good play from Garner to find Laird but De Gea was poor for that one. Then you could see us start to tire and the game changed when Rooney moved into the centre and they ran at us a bit more. We didn't disgrace ourselves.

No idea about whether a couple of their goals should have stood because I was at the other end but i've been told Rooney dived for the pen and that Clarke was fouled in the build up to the second. Meh. Kevin Davies was lucky to avoid a second yellow but I thought him and Garner were superb in unsettling them. I think Garner will be disappointed with his two headers, he's better than that.

Has to be said though, I've seen the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool in the cup before and you could see genuine class in their teams. Tonight, I thought United looked your run-of-the-mill Prem side, bit of extra class at both ends but overall a team you could go toe to toe with. Daley Blind was terrible for them I thought and he was allowed extra time on the ball as he wasted it 90% of the time. Falcao was also poor but so was the service into him, floated diagonal balls into three centrebacks who are good in the air was baffling.

Fellaini was United's stand out.

On to Scunthorpe.

Agree with all of this.

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere tonight, especially after the goal. The feeling when we scored was indescribable. Shame we couldn;t see it through but a great night anyway.
