In my opinion one of the most exciting days on the football caldendar, the first round draw. An opportunity to get an unknown minnow, or perhaps a tasty fixture between two clubs that rarely meet. Of course you could get an all L1 clash (we managed 3 of those last season) which nobody wants.

Here are the draw numbers and clubs:

1 Accrington Stanley
2 AFC Wimbledon
3 Barnet
4 Blackpool
5 Bolton Wanderers
6 Bradford City
7 Bristol Rovers
8 Bury
9 Cambridge United
10 Carlisle United
11 Charlton Athletic
12 Cheltenham Town
13 Chesterfield
14 Colchester United
15 Coventry City
16 Crawley Town
17 Crewe Alexandra
18 Doncaster Rovers
19 Exeter City
20 Fleetwood Town
21 Gillingham
22 Grimsby Town
23 Hartlepool United
24 Leyton Orient
25 Luton Town
26 Mansfield Town
27 Millwall
28 Milton Keynes Dons
29 Morecambe
30 Newport County
31 Northampton Town
32 Notts County
33 Oldham Athletic
34 Oxford United
35 Peterborough United
36 Plymouth Argyle
37 Port Vale
38 Portsmouth
39 Rochdale
40 Scunthorpe United
41 Sheffield United
42 Shrewsbury Town
43 Southend United
44 Stevenage
45 Swindon Town
46 Walsall
47 Wycombe Wanderers
48 Yeovil Town
49 Southport
50 Alfreton Town or Gateshead
51 Macclesfield Town
52 FC Halifax Town
53 Stockport County
54 Barrow
55 Stourbridge
56 Altrincham
57 Lincoln City or Guiseley
58 Spennymoor Town
59 Wrexham or Stamford
60 York City or Curzon Ashton
61 Whitehawk
62 Westfields
63 Sutton United
64 Chesham United
65 Dagenham & Redbridge
66 Torquay United or Woking
67 Taunton Town or Hemel Hempstead Town
68 Braintree Town
69 Brackley Town
70 Dartford
71 St Albans City
72 Boreham Wood
73 Eastbourne Borough
74 Harrow Borough or Margate
75 Maidstone United
76 Kidderminster Harriers
77 Solihull Moors
78 Dover Athletic
79 Merstham
80 Eastleigh

Go on then, who would you like your club to draw? Personally would love a low ranking team in non league just for the exotic away day, although we would get beat. Never heard of Merstham (79).

The draw takes place tonight, BBC 7PM.

Maidstone United away would do me.

It's close, winnable and plenty of pubs. The type of game you could still go and have a day out even if you failed to get a ticket.

Aye forgot about Halifax actually. Not played them since they dropped out of the league and it's a fairly local game only being 20 or so miles away. Wouldn't mind them away. Decent ground too.

As a side note and on the topic of Halifax. Rochdale v Halifax would be interesting, both clubs historical rival, local war of the roses clash.

Yeah I would be happy with that one too, think we would both sell out each others away ends whoever was at home.

You only get about 400 allocation at Maidstone and the pitch is plastic.. would you not rather have them at home?

Halifax's ground is the best in non league in my opinion, big open terrace creates a fantastic atmosphere, we had a brilliant time there last season even though we got dicked 4 - 2.

You can have anything up to 6,300 if you demanded it.

Sutton or Merstham away. Sutton's 25 minutes away and is the closest I have to a second team. We played Merstham in the CCL and they were very welcoming.

after our season in the conference, you can keep it!

I'd prefer a Saturday trip to one the bigger clubs we're having to play on a Tuesday night due to our sh*te fixtures this season, so Bolton, Sheff Utd or possibly Cov if the current date gets rearranged.

we will get somebody very dull though like Port Vale away...

I hope for Halifax or Stockport away each year. Would be interesting to renew rivalries with either.
Personally want a localish non league side away. Alty, Stockport, Halifax, Southport, Curzon Ashton. Can see us getting something like MK Dons at home.

We're popular it would seem!

Of course I want to draw our friends from over the hill. It's been too long.

In order of preference (all away)
1. Taunton (replay pending)
2. Torquay (same)
3. Plymouth
4. Exeter
5. Yeovil

All of which means we will get Spennymoor

Last night I popped out for a couple of beers. Got nattering to a bloke I know who.lives nearby and goes to the same pub sometimes.

I knew he served in the army in the 1970s, but didn't realise he was based in Hereford for a while,or had.been a pretty good footballer when young. Turns out he played a few games.in local football for Westfields when he was in Hereford...

That's Dale's opposition sorted, then! :sb:

As we're the highest rank team in the competition every team will be dreaming of drawing us :bg1:

I would like York away (If they qualify) or anyone at home really.

Dreading it. Dicked 5-0 at Cheltenham plus 2 beatings by Macclesfield in the last few seasons makes the cup draw a nightmare.

We used to be such a good cup team. We used to be a good team. We used to be . . .

Don't want the squatters personally, too many bellends who would want to 'have a pop' at the big neighbours. Guaranteed bother.
Dartford or Margate away for me please.

No, couldn't think of anything worse than a non-league opponent at The Valley.

If not Maidstone then St Albans or Eastbourne away will do for more or less the same reasons.

True enough. It'll happen one day I'm sure, just hope the aforementioned bellends don't ruin it for everyone.

Merstham away never heard of them and have no idea where it is. Although that means it would be on tv and probably a sunday or Monday night so that's shit. Accy away will do

I'm sure some Port Vale fans would welcome the opportunity to renew acquaintances with their old chum James Gannon.

I don't want Maidstone, we're in too shit form at the moment to have the bother of losing to that lot.

Margate, Dover or Dartford away though - sure!

We'll get a north west side away though, we've lucked out enough with cup draws this season.
