Dorking 3-0 up at Stockport!
& 4-0
Rather embarrassing but not too gutted to be out of the cup and could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Gannon said this was the game for players to prove they were good enough to be part of a side that hopes to make the playoffs and they all pretty much failed so I expect to see at least 4 or 5 additions before the transfer window shuts.

The dream is over after a 1-0 defeat against Leamington in the replay last night. That's our cup run quota dealt with for the following decade, we can go back to business as usual next season & get dumped out in the qualifiers to a team lower than us in the pyramid.

The Trophy has lost its appeal since the introduction of the play offs which is understandable. It needs a revamp. When there was only 1 promotion spot it was your only chance of a Wembley appearance. Now we see sub 15000 crowds rattling about in a ground too gigantic for the game.

I'd like to see it moved, if in London then maybe the new Tottenham ground, or in the Midlands at Villa Park ?

How about keeping it regional all the way to the Final and having a South v North final ?. No replays either, straight to pens.

What do you think. As a lifelong fan of a traditional non-league club I'd like to keep it

Obviously we haven't been around it as long as most but I think it's a garbage competition and a waste of time, you can't even justify it's existence through prize money either as you get paid peanuts each round, the only real money you make out of it is if you win it and £60,000 doesn't go that far these days for most National League sides I'd imagine?

How about keeping it regional all the way to the Final and having a South v North final ?. No replays either, straight to pens.

And despite what I said I think this would be a good way to move it forward.

The last but one time we played in the FA Trophy was 2001/02 when we won it beating Stevenage in the final. It was held at Villa Park and the attendance was 18800. The atmosphere was fantastic, from what I remember we took 12k and they took 6k. It would have been a bit ridiculous at Wembley.

Don’t they tag the Vase final on as well? Suspect Orient getting to the final helped as well, you’d need us to get there of the teams left to get close to repeating that.

I was quite looking forward to it, but a succession of terrible draws has kind of killed that.

Think there was about 21,000 when we won it in 2010 against Stevenage. It was an incredible day out and as previous winners it'll always be held in high regard. Seeing your team at Wembley is a big draw for both players and fans (myself included at the time) and that's why it'll never change. Now I'd much prefer to see a full stadium which you're more likely to get if the venue is midway between both sides. Last year's play off final was a bit of a joke really.

For example, it'd make more sense for a final between ourselves and Hartlepool to be played in Leeds or Manchester.

I've never seen Barnet play at Wembley so quite happy to keep the Trophy final there on the slim chance that we ever make it that far!

As with all cup competitions, they can be a nuisance depending on your league position and ambitions. However, if you do manage to get through the rounds, interest always spikes and crowds rise.

Doing away with two legged semi finals might be a good idea but not sure of the logistics, as you would need to host these at neutral venues.

Replays could also be scrapped but I suppose to some of the smaller clubs, there could be an attraction of a replay at an ex-FL ground where the crowd could be relatively large.

Regionalised through to the semi finals is a good idea and if the prize fund could be increased that would also make a big difference to many clubs.

I do like the "Finals Day" concept though - tickets are currently available at £20 for adults which is fantastic value for two games at Wembley, even if your team don't make it through. Not sure the appeal is so good if you don't live in the South East, mind...

In the past until the late 90s the two finalists would gain exemption to the 1st round of the following season’s FA Cup. Obviously the cup was more prestigious for everyone back then plus Conference clubs were not automatically exempted until the 4th qualifying round but it would still be a mild incentive to try to get to the final.

While we are at it can we have a "Central" area too, you know for us midlanders that have been drawn against Dagenham because we a southern team?

Somewhat surprised with all the hype surrounding this player. I take it he's fluffed his chance and now not wanted by Barrow.

I can only really remember him fluffing a one-on-one and rolling about on the floor pretending to be hurt. Usually you can tell if a player is going to make the step up, but he didn't contribute anything to the game.

To be fair to him the keeper did well on the 1 on 1. and FC United were chasing shadows for 90 mins so didn't create many chances for him. I still wouldn't be surprised to see him invited to training to look at him to see what he can do with decent service (we do train in Rochdale) - but signing him would be a surprise.

Having said that last year's trophy final attendance was 43000[/QUOTE}]
The Stevenage v Kidderminster final in 2007 attracted over 53,000, and the following day the Vase final between Truro and AFC Totton got over 36,000

Obviously, the novelty of it being at 'new' Wembley helped, and tickets for the Vase final were as little as £10.

There were plenty of supporters from other Western League clubs in with the Truro fans as well.

How about an East West split rather then North South? It's far easier for us to get up the M5 than having to trek over to deepest darkest Essex/Kent. And don't even mention the ball ache of anything East Midlands and beyond!

That would make far more sense. The north/south road network is light years ahead of the east/west.

Give National League teams an opt out for a fee & distribute the total fees in to the prize money pot.

Nothing to see here just another postponed game. Called off a few mins before K/O!

A frozen goalmouth isn’t really our fault tbh. Feel very sorry for the travelling fans.
