I'm sure I made a Youth Cup thread a while ago, seems to have vanished. Here goes again.

I'm going down to see our U-18s away to Arsenal in the 5th Round on Thursday night. Looking forward to it more than our first team game tonight tbh, really big game for our U-18s but they've gone well in this years Cup. Beaten last year's finalists in Fulham and absolutely battered (to put it kindly) Bolton in the previous round 5-0. Winner of this plays Man City away in the quarter final.

5th Round...
Arsenal vs Crewe

Quarter Final...
Man City vs Arsenal/Crewe
Leicester vs Birmingham
Forest vs Spurs

Semi Final...
Arsenal/Crewe/Man City vs Leicester/Birmingham
Forest/Spurs vs Chelsea

We beat Newcastle 3-0 AET last night. This group isn't as good as we've had in previous years but have done well to get to here.
I'll take forest away in the next round.

Arsenal are a joke, twice now our fans and players have travelled the majority of the way for it to be called off. Should either play it at the Emirates or switch it to Crewe if they can't get the game on at some tin pot non league ground.

Thankfully I was in London regardless, didn't even set off for the match, still narked I'm missing it though.

It's just kicked off tonight. Crewe 1-0 up already.

Arsenal 2-3 Crewe, full time.

Fantastic.

I'll definitely be going to the City game. They deserve our full support.

Bit gutted spurs beat forest as it would have been a local one for me that I could have gone to.

Man City / Crewe Vs. Leicester / Birmingham
Chelsea Vs. Tottenham

Edit: Actually is the semi only one-legged?

I can't wait for City away, probably next week, hopefully not Tuesday as we've got a game away at Rochdale. Not sure if it will be at the Etihad or the Minihad, be a good day either way.

Yeah, seems everyone is taking it for granted that it will be at the Etihad and I'm not sure why. Their last round game against Stoke was at the Academy Stadium(or Minihad, I like that nickname). Don't see any reason why this one wouldn't be either, would be daft for them to pump millions into a stadium built for this very purpose then use the mega stadium next door.

Common sense has to prevail and they have to play it on either Wednesday or Thursday next week. I'm going to the Rochdale game and a small part of me would be tempted to give it a swerve and head to the youth cup game instead should it be arranged for the Tuesday.

We had our best run in this since we reformed our Youth setup after scrapping it when we went down to the Conference. Reached the 4th round, which is one round less than our best ever performance in this this Centuary and that's when we produced Bobby Hassell, Craig Disley, Lee Williamson and Liam Lawrence and Jake Buxton who have all had decent careers in the Championship/League One and Lawrence played in the Prem for a few seasons too!

Man City vs Crewe to be played on Monday at City's academy ground. Hopefully we take a good following.

I think we will take more than we do to Rochdale the day after personally.

Free entry to ST holders and a much easier ground to get to will possibly swing it.

2-1 down at City after taking an early lead. Going to take a mammoth effort to get through now, but this group have probably just about got it in them.

Well we got battered, disappointing for the lads to go out like that. But what do you expect when you've got boys from Sandbach and Holmes Chapel against your Paulo's and Thierry's on bigger wages than our first team. Impressive ground and good to see so many Crewe fans travel up.

6-1 to City. Would like to say it flattered them but let's face it, it didn't. Unsurprisingly they were a class or three above, can't compete with that. The facilities themselves showed what we were up against, I mean the ground would be bloody good for any League One club never mind City's U-18s.

Result didn't really matter though, brilliant night. That 5 minutes after Lowery's goal was brilliant and if there were 1,400 in that stand then at least 1,000 of them must have been Alex fans - unless I'm missing something? Do City fans not celebrate goals?

"Blue Moon is an Alex song!"

I'd say a good 800-900 were Crewe. Very proud despite the scoreline.

Good effort that. Norwich brought 3000 down to us for the second leg of the final in 12/13, great support.

Really not impressed with either of these sides. I know it's a cagey cup semi final and all that but there's an alarming lack of quality on show.

Not really, pretty rubbish game but spurs deserved it. Agree with you Godsgift. As I said in #2 our group is weaker than we've have in previous years.

Although he didn't really have a sniff tonight, you can tell Solanke is a good player. Would be interesting to see how he'd fare if he was loaned out to a L1/L2 side.
