After all the fuss, Chelsea have offered him a new one-year deal. Still remains to be seen if he accepts it, mind.

Apparently been offered an absolutely ridiculous contract in China according to the Guardian. Something like 20m+ a year.

PLOT THICKENS.

He should come out of international 'retirement' and win the Euros with England, then off to China for an emporers wages before ending his career on the moon.

We've never been to the moon.

In his farewell speech JT indicated he was looking to stay on. Showman till the end.

I reckon he'll stay, they should really agree something now.

Meh. What an anticlimax. I presume the stories that he was being offered £400k a week in China must have been bullshit, he won't be on a quarter of that at Chelsea for the next 12 months.

Probably not, he could probably still get offers from China next season so there's no rush really.

I read in a few places that the deal he was offered was a non-footballing position. Hopefully true, but I can't see it myself.

Perhaps China's not that big a lure. Obviously the prospect of earning megabucks isn't without its attractions but I suspect some players would prefer to prolong their careers at the highest level. He's a multi-millionaire with young kids so staying put isn't exactly a bad option for someone who's already spent the best part of two decades in Chelsea colours and clearly has loads of affection for the club. Besides, as JJ says, there's always next year...

For me once Chelsea revealed they wanted to sign JT for another year, there was no where else he'd be going. The big lure about China is, obviously, the money, and JT doesn't need bags of money, and plus he's settled with family, therefore it'd be pointless to move to China.
