Just been watching the athletics and a poor Israeli athlete was heading for a medal in the 5000m...but she stopped a lap or so too early!

Anyone got examples of a sports person thinking they'd done the job but stopped too soon?

Isn't there an example somewhere, where a team thought they'd scored and the other team went down the other end and scored while they were still celebrating. I'm sure there was also one where a team thought they'd won a tie on away goals and were celebrating, only to be told there was no away goals and they had to play extra time, think it was an English team.

EDIT: It was the Arsenal v Reading league cup game where Arsenal came from 4-0 down to win 7-5 after extra time. 4-4 at full time, Giroud and Coquelin threw their shirts into the crowd, presuming there'd be a replay only to be told there was extra time and they'd need to get their shirts back.

This a good one....goal not given by the ref....defender picks the ball up but ref doesn't see it so no penalty given as the ref says to play on....just over a minute in...
