I reckon Bilic as well. Smacked of an appointment to appease the fans rather than for footballing reasons and with the amount of money they've spent and the Olympic Stadium coming, I can't see them being patient if he gets off to a bad start

The owners are usually regarded as ones that stick by their manager for a while, and they are the ones who fired Allardyce to bring him in. He'll get the season unless they are something like 10 points to the next team at the bottom, which won't happen. Bilic I think will do fine, once he gets going and settled in.

Allardyce was never really under threat of relegation though, it was more bad football than bad results that had him under pressure, and his poor relationship with the fans. That's a lot easier for chairman to resist than the potential money lost through going down. Particularly this season.

And looking back before him: Zola, Grant - to me, they don't seem more likely than any other club to stick by their manager if they're struggling. Again, with the money they've spent, Olympic Stadium coming, expectations are higher this season. If they make a bad start (which I really think is possible, don't rate Bilic at all) then he'll be gone.

I don't think so. I don't necessarily agree with Bilic's approach, but it could be a blessing in disguise. West Ham don't have the squad depth for a European competition.

I reckon Rodgers will be gone by January.

It would of took West Ham 22 more games to reach the Europa league final if they won that tie, i think it was a good decision to put youngsters out and concentrate on the Premier league.

Nobody expects them to win it. But going out at the first hurdle won't help his case if they struggle in the league.

Concentrate on getting what exactly?

They won't go down.

Not really sure why anyone agrees with them throwing the tie this evening, it's very unlikely that they'll go down and the Europa League would have been excellent for the fans, a likely peak throughout decades of Premier League mediocrity.

Advocaat for me - thought they'd struggle even before they got thumped at Leicester on Saturday.

We won't sack Advocaat after the way we chased him in the summer if anything he'll walk. He asked for quality signings which hasn't happened but the main reason, we are a fucking shambles.

Shame she isn't going to be attending the matches, she was the only thing worth watching when Chelsea play...

Allardyce was never really under threat of relegation though, it was more bad football than bad results that had him under pressure, and his poor relationship with the fans. That's a lot easier for chairman to resist than the potential money lost through going down. Particularly this season.

If they make a bad start (which I really think is possible, don't rate Bilic at all) then he'll be gone.

Allardyce: Bad results in the 2nd half of last season (relegation form) and the mid section of the season before last, plus the aforementioned reasons. But of course it's constantly missed/ignored that they didn't sack him, and it wouldn't have surprised me if Allardyce had enough of it all anyway and not signed a new contract regardless.

We should have sacked Grant, but they stuck with him after the Arsenal game and Martin O'Neill debacle and we went down - many other owners would have sacked Grant in that god awful spell. They've since said he was a bad appointment and they should have sacked him earlier.

Zola was sacked because - after an admirable first season working with nowt - when the going got tough he ran out of ideas and was quoted as having no interest in the transfers side of the job, which given the non-existent relationship between GSB and Nani, was a death knell and sign of a necessary sweep. We liked Zola, but he wasn't cut out for the job, and he's not ripped up trees since. I expect he'd be a very good coach though given the form he got from Carlton Cole.

He probably won't be the first to get sacked, but i'm beginning to see that Mourinho is edging closer to the sack. He is beginning to fall out with his medical staff, and I think Jose and the medical team could be arguing a hell of a lot from now on, which could end up in either a total revamp of the medical staff, or Jose getting sacked. A lot of Chelsea's medical team (if not all) are now unhappy with the saga that has gone on. Just bare in mind this is the first game of the season, and things could get a lot worse this coming season. And plus, i'm sure most of the Chelsea players will be sad not having a hot girl to give them treatment with injuries. :P1:

Liverpool would only sack a manager mid season if they were struggling in the bottom half of the table. So I agree with you it'll be Rodgers

Not the first of the season, but I think the rails are about to come off for Mourinho.

Third season syndrome possibly with old Jose? His teams tend to break down on the third season, especially when he couldn't hack it at Real Madrid.
