New territory for Dale this weekend as we make the trip to Ipswich (last season's game there was post lockdown). Don't know much about them except
a) They used to be very good, but that finished 35 years ago
b) They seem to be in a Portsmouth/Blackpool/Coventry-esque decline for a few years, although they don't have the off-field shenanigans suffered by those three.
c) Gwion Edwards is a very good player and Kayden Jackson isn't too shabby.

We have three injuries, but those include our best defender and best forward, who are unlikely to be fit. We've signed a young forward (Jake Beesley) from non-league who may have to be thrown straight in. Possible Dale team:
Bazunu
McLaughlin-McShane-McNulty-Keohane
Morley-Ryan
Newby-Lund-Rathbone
Beesley or Done
Subs: Lynch, Dunne, Brierley , Dooley, Baah, Tavares, Beesley/Done

Result. I fancy us to nick it by the odd goal. For whatever reason, we used to beat Coventry and Rotherham more often than not. With those two up, Ipswich can take over the role... :) (Please!)

Home to Charlton on Sunday for us.

Morton has apparently picked up a serious shoulder injury 'off the grass' so we're waiting for scan results on that. The likes of Roughan, Jackson, McGrandles, Hopper etc will come back in for this one after being rested last night.

MK Dons at home for us. After two defeats vs relegated sides, this gives us a good chance for our first points of the season. MK haven’t won away for 12 months and our home form is generally good only a couple of defeats in the last 12 months. We’ve still got quite a few players out I’m not expecting Lowery, Powell, Porter, Nolan, Daniels to play.
Crewe 2-1 MK Dons (Kirk, Mandron, Mason)

I’m expecting us to field the same team as we did at Charlton but with Lokilo starting for Tulloch. We are very much a bogey team for the gas but it seems they are far better squad wise than they have been for a while and we definitely haven’t gelled yet, going for a 1-1 draw.

Plymouth away for us. We’re seriously struggling and are a bit light on numbers already due to numerous injuries. Looks like we’ll be missing Ebanks-Landell, Sears, Edwards, Goss, Daniels and Pyke. Might struggle in this one, can’t afford anymore injuries on returning back to Shropshire Saturday evening.

GK) Sarkic

RB) Fossey
CB) Ro-Shaun Williams
CB) Pierre
LB) Golbourne

CM) Vela
CM) Norburn
CM) High

RW) Cummings
ST) Udoh
LW) Whalley

Plymouth 2-1 Salop (Udoh)

We’ve got threats throughout the team and have been really attacking and dangerous going forward which is a continuation of how we were last season.

The issue is the other end, in league 2 we had enough to keep most teams out, especially because we attacked so much. In league 1 the oppositions attacks are considerably better and it’s exposed weaknesses in defenders that we knew were already there but haven’t been so apparent lately. Numerous individual errors from players that haven’t adapted to the higher standards required have been punished and resulted in goals rather than the team being pulled apart but Lowe seems to know the issues, he has also already bought in a CB from Fulham today that sounds like he was quality for Accrington last season.

If Lowe can get it right and make us tighter at the back we will be a good team in this division.

I’d agree with your prediction too, I’m predicting a win but another high scoring one, perhaps 3-2

Home to Burton. One of those games you expect to win but turns out to be a real old struggle. Young Matt Smith from Arsenal has been superb in the first 2 games. Pitman looks like a right old dobbin based on his 2 cameo appearances.

Got some real quick players, but they’re youngsters compared to Burton’s old pros. First goal so important.

1-0

At the moment don’t think we’ll be involved in too many scoreless draws for the reasons Rob mentions. We seem to score from all over. In the cup and league games so far I think ten different players have scored, and this does not include Hardie who is possibly our main goal threat. However, when the ball is at the other end I hide behind the sofa. We have a twenty year old in goal who will play at Championship or above, he makes some great saves, but also rookie mistakes. Two weeks ago he was arguably MOM and last week probably at fault for two goals. Our back three are a bit slow, and our loan signing from Newcastle has never played in a three before and it shows, he is sometimes out of position a little bit. But he will get there. On the left are our two most creative players, Cooper and Mayor, but they are much much better going forward. I don’t normally predict anything, but we seem to like 3-2 this year.

The key thing for us is when teams press high can we get the ball out to Mayor and Grant. If we can we’ll hurt teams, if we can’t we’ll be in trouble. Watch out for Hardie up front.

Probably not the best time to play Charlton, 7th game in 21 days, just been taken over, signed Ben Watson with more expected. Big, big test.

Yep MA has already said he will be very happy to have a free week after Sunday. Hard to know what to expect from Charlton, when they get their house in order you would think they will be contenders. Just depends if they can add anymore to the thin squad Bowyer has before tomorrow or be more competitive from the Donny game last week.

A game every three days since the start of the season will take some toll on us I would imagine.

Hull at home. Not too sure what our team will look like and how many of the 12 injured players we’ll have back as Curle is very coy with his comments about that.

Would take a point for a great start to the season.

2-0 up vs MK Dons, should be out of sight though. MK look absolutely woeful, can’t live with our energy and pace. They pass the ball around a lot but with no purpose usually backwards or sideways. Hopefully one more goal to kill this game off.

I think the Gas must hate playing us looking like 10 wins and 1 draw in the in the last 11 games

Beat Burton 4-2 but they were no mugs. We still look very get-at-able in defence though. Going forward we were very good at times.

Enjoyable game.

Yep agree with that ID, Burton were a vast improvement on Rochdale. We were clinical with our chances but porous at the back and Burton hit the inside of the post at 4-2 which would have meant squeaky bottoms all over the pitch.

I’m going to take a punt and say that Matt Smith from Arsenal is the most promising loanee since Alzate (who is now in Brighton’s first team). The 4th goal was pure class from him and a lovely finish from J.Smith.

Posh away is a test next week for sure but we look like we are going to be very entertaining this season! Oh and 90 minutes for Pitman and a lovely goal to boot. Great day all round.

Lost 2-1 to Wigan. Change needed, we were awful. Everyone knows it, even the most patient of fans are starting to turn I think. Not sure our board is going to risk it though.

There's no passion, motivation or cohesion, and most worryingly, no team spirit to be seen! On the other side, I loved Wigan's spirit, it felt like they were at least fighting for each other in the face of their current adversity.. completely different story on our side. It's torturous to watch us currently.

Very comfortable win today could have been far more if we had been a bit more ruthless. A young side who have clearly got better in each game.

Finally managed to hang on to a lead today. Fleetwood had all the possession but we're quite happy to sit back and soak it up. Unbeaten over 90 minutes so far this season suggests we are a very different proposition to the last couple of years. Easily the best squad we've had.

Finished 2-0 missed plenty more chances in the 2nd half aswell. MK had 70% possession yet managed nothing going forward and looked a really poor side, massively lacking in creativity. They lost possession in dangerous positions constantly.

I know its early but we are a different proposition this season. Organised and some depth in the squad. We have more than enough to stay out of trouble.imo.

I didn't watch it today but apparently it was Hull from the Championship against The Cobblers from League Two and 2-0 flattered us.

Fair play to your lads, you really are a bit of a bogey side to us. Despite overwhelming possession, we never really looked like scoring, and but for a couple of brilliant saves from Cairns you could have won by more. Resolute defending from the Wombles, the only question I have is how did you concede 4 last week. Have a good season mate, a supporter owned club and I wish there were more like you

We still haven't played particularly well, yet it's 100% record including 2 very comfortable away wins. We haven't played a decent team yet so chickens remain very much uncounted. So far this season my thoughts are:
1) I'd forgotten just how poor the standard is in L1;
2) you can make a lot more mistakes without being punished at this level;
3) the standard of refereeing is abysmal, today's ref was hilariously bad, I think we ended up slightly benefitting after some early favouring the home side;
4) it's nice winning games, I'd almost forgotten the feeling.

Couldn’t be more correct, wouldn’t be surprised if we did a Wycombe (if the season actually does get to finish).

What’s going on down at Brizzle?

Changed side today. Didnt play attacking midfield and started with a hding midfielder to shield the back 4..Last two weeks we have been far more gung ho in our approach. Showed you a bit of respect and changed it up today.

Relegation zone after three games. Wasn't really in the script after what looked like a very kind start to the season, fixture-wise.

Worrying stuff and I don't think the owners will dispense with Jackett any time soon with all the uncertainties over money. It's going to be a long, dull, bleak season.
