I started over with a Bristol City, lined up with 451 or 442 generally. I was hanging around mid table until Korey Smith got injured with no one who could play the ball winning role as well as him I suffered. Main transfers were Stephen Gleeson (900k), Stephen Ward (promptly sold the summer after) and Ben Gladwin in January for like £600k. Anyway survived the drop okay enough in the end (19th/20th).

Then made like 10+ signings in the summer, main ones have included Tom Bradshaw for £1.6m or something I think (already returned 17 goals so more than paying for it). Ben Hamer on another season loan, Adam Forshaw, 600k, Jack Stephens (675k) initially signed as a back up however Shane Duffy (signed for around £1m) got injured he's stepped in well averaging a 7 rating. Sold Kodjia and Freeman for about £3m each this season, Kodjia start of season and Freeman in January.

Finished 11th, Bradshaw having netted something like 17 league goals for me in the end so happy with that. Then took the Palace job in the summer who are also in the championship, given £7.5m budget with healthy wage budget, clear out the high earners in the club too as a starting point. I raid City for Bradshaw, Gladwin and Stephens. Also forgot that I sold both Freeman and Ayling to Palace. Other signings for the summer include, Yedlin, Alex Mowatt, Tom Cleverley, Matthew Targett, Ryan Bennett. Happy with my squad, just got to get the team settled. Hovering around the play offs atm.

Just added it up, my summer spending was £31.5 million and sold players worth just under £20 million, good thing its only fm after the outcry of how much Derby have spent this summer

Finally starting to make progress on my FM16 file, normally by now i'm 3-4 seasons in but so far am only in January first season.

Doing pretty well, up to 4th with Reading in the Championship. Got no hope of top 2 with Hull and Wolves 10 points clear but i've found a good system that dominates games, even if on occasion I don't get the results I deserve from the games. Pretty simple 4-2-3-1 control with lots of pace in the front 4.

Also had what was possibly the earliest tycoon takeover i've ever seen on FM. Birmingham by mid/late November got taken over by Kuwaitis who are rumoured to be giving their manager £37m to spend this January. So far the only signing they have made is Dwight Gayle (£2.7m for Reading - I paid £3.3m in the Summer but he was terrible) and they are close to signing Kolo Toure on a permanent.

Made very few signings with Reading so far. Gayle who has now gone, with Razak (free agent) and Dodo (loaned from Inter) the only ones brought in for depth. With Kirchoff joining in the Summer if I don't take up the option to buy him now.

So far i'm pretty happy with FM16 actually. Took me far longer to find a system that worked, but now I have it has been pretty effective. Still seems like far too many cards are dished out, though atleast theres not a red card every game like in the beta.

Closing in on promotion with Palace, 9 games left in the season and top spots look like

Palace - 77 points
Sheffield Wednesday* - 73 points
----
Stoke - 65
Derby - 64
Bournemouth - 62
Forest - 61

* Wednesday have played a game less

Easily have the best goal difference in the league, however Wednesday were clear by 10 points earlier in the season. Still got an outside chance of the ton as well though.

Promotion achieved easily, 90 points 4 games to go however Derby up next away so the ton could be tough.

Stumbled across a bit of a winning formula on my game due to injuries, but I've only really changed 3 things.

I was playing 4-1-3-2 and now it's a 4-4-2 diamond with the roles for two of the four midfielders slightly different. Currently in 7th, although since the change I'd probably be placed 2nd/3rd.

Decided to make a career and do the "create a club" mode.

Took over Nuneaton in the Conference North clubs and named it Jonny FC. Randomized the squad too, it gave me a smattering of decent and shocking players, including Marlon Harewood as captain. He ended up retiring at the end of the first season because I played him once.

First season we finished top and got promoted by 7 points. I brought in Jake Simpson upfront who scored 20 goals, Paul Parry on the left who scored 10 and Mo Shariff who would consistently beat an entire team and then baloon it over the bar with his 3 composure stat. I also signed young attacking midfielder Jack Blake for £50k and built the team around him, he ended up finishing the season with a 7.47 average rating. But by far my best player was young right back Lewis Turner, he won player of the season at right back by being solid defensively but also consistently putting in Xavi esc balls from the deep right to send our forwards in to score. It was really rocky going into the last 2 months of the season, we just couldn't score enough goals to finish team off and ended up drawing a lot of our games. However I managed to get a settled team with Shariff finding some form as well as drafting in Dion Sembie Ferris on loan from Col U, and we finished top and went up to the Conference.

Second season in and I have completely reshaped the squad. Brought in a lot of players on trial and released a lot of players from our promotion winning team that I didn't believe could make the cut at Conference level. Here are my ins and outs.

6 games in to our season in the conference and we're sitting pretty in first place, love it. We're going all the way, back to back promotions here we come!

Was struggling with Palace so jumped ship after about 15 games when Everton came calling. they were 17th at the time and wanted me to get them mid table, I'm 8th with 8 games to go (most have 7 left) win my game in hand and I will be 6 points off 4th.

They'd already agreed to sign Cheryshev, I signed Chadli, Balanta, Xhaka and a kid on loan from Porto. Hopefully get given a decent amount in summer.

Quite a solid first half of the season in L1, which shows the formation must just be about right.

Mid-table at Xmas, well within touching distance of the PO's. Prone to the odd spanking (had a 1-5 and 2-6 this season) but generally ok considering I only have 18 players, 14 of which are from last season.

Managed to get promotion in the play offs in my first season in the conference, unbelievable performance from the lads to manage back to back promotions.

I had to gut quite a large amount of the squad however as many just wouldn't cut it at League 2 level, so their reward for promotion was being released.

Started pretty poorly, couldn't defend for shite. But I did nonstop defensive training and brought a few loanees in and got it sorted. It was also very frustrating that my board set me a nice wage budget, meaning after I released a whole bunch of players and gave me extra funds. However, they wouldn't let me adjust my budget, meaning I had no transfer budget to pay agent and signing on fee's, which really priced out a lot of players I could have gone for to be ready for the season.

Managed to sneak into the play offs in my first season in League 2. It'd be insanity if I could go up but I doubt it. I almost hope I don't as I feel it would be very, very difficult to stay up in league 1.

Edit: Lost 1-0 first leg and drew 1-1 in the second to Port Vale.

Burslem bastards

Thinking about about making my own club - do the owners vary from club to club, and what do you do in your first season about players? Do you just get a load of regens?

The owners remain from the club you take over from. So I took over Nuneaton, thus I have the same owners as Nuneaton did.

Once you create your club they will show you the players in that club, so for me it was the Nuneaton players. They give you an option at this point whether to keep the squad, randomize the players like I did, delete or the players or add your own. I feel randomization gives it a fairer feel rather than cherry picking players as well as making it seem a little more like a new club, which you wouldn't feel if you just had the Nuneaton players. So I randomized and it gave me a wide selection of players that are Conference North level, I got rid of some of the oldies so I had room to bring in my own players, and off I went.

Haven't updated in a bit, Everton finished 8th, signed Quintero and Fabregas on frees, Woodrow for £10m, Smalling for £1.7m, Carrasco from Atletico for £14m, Malyshev (young Ukrainian defender) for £15m and Pohjanpalo from Juve for £10.5m. Season went a bit shit, struggling so resigned.

Then managed to get back the Palace job in December, sold Afobe (was my last signing in previous stint as Palace manager and left before playing him) for £13.75m, Jonny Evans for £1.7m and a few others. Was given £20m (and a hefty wage budget) with the aim of top half, brought in Woodrow for £8.5m who then got injured in his 3rd game and out for season after scoring a hattrick in the previous game. Bentaleb for £6.5m, Hendrick for £1.1m, Deulefeu for £4.4m, James Bree and Tommy Smith for £5.5m each which sorted any issues at right back, brought Alex Mowatt back for £7.25m (also got fans in a good mood) and maybe the best signing of all Jordan Ayew for £1.1m, brought in after Woodrow got injured on deadline day and 22 goals in 33 appearances with 8 assists, has made sure Woodrow hasn't had the chance to get back in the side.

Was then given sod all budget in the summer despite parachute payments however the club only wanting a mid table finish, tad annoying as it signals happiness to stay in the division. Taylor Moore wanted out which sucked but he's premiership quality, got £10.25m for him and a good sell on clause, signed Morsy as a replacement for £750k and has done a very good job. Signed Dunk for £5m and Nabay on loan from Newcastle.

However 19 games in I'm on 46 points and 7 clear, the only team with a goal difference higher than 10 (28), scored 47 and conceded 19. Bradford the dicks won their first 10 games in a row and are 3rd a point behind Rotherham, Huddersfield and Sheffield Utd are then 4th and 5th... hopefully should have promotion in the bag.

tl;dr - ditched Everton as I was doing shit, went back to Palace and fucking the division over hopefully en route to another title.

I'm regretting setting my management thing as some tinpot footballer. I start every season with 16 players because no half decent bugger wants to sign for me.

10 games to go and table looks like

Palace - 80
Wednesday - 63
-----
Rotherham - 63
QPR - 62
Huddersfield - 62 (37 games played)
Bradford - 62
----
Leeds - 58 (37 played)
Sheff Utd - 56

So almost a play off place confirmed with 10 games left and shouldn't be too long before promotion is confirmed, 100 points being the target.

Signed Ayoze Perez in my second season as Liverpool after sacking Ings and Benteke off. Perez is unreal.
