Not sure if I have seen a show with such negative feedback on its debut. I think everyone agree it was absolutely awful.

Slightly better yesterday, but taking 25 mins on the pompey game after it has just been on sky was a bit stupid. As was having Yeovil v QPR as a feature game, it wasnt a giant killing so why was it so extended?

Hopefully they can stay far away from live audiences in the future, no good can come from it. Making me miss Manish and the gang.. even Claridge!

Thoughts on the show so far?

The best thing you can do is record and skip every single bit that isn't football. It's dogshit.

They literally could have almost copied FLS and just stuck it on at 9 and they'd have been on to a winner. But they have to be original and gimmicky, the Noel's House Party tables at the end in particular were cringe. I was just hoping there was an opportunity to gunge Martin Allen, alas no.

Yep, thought it was absolutely shite last weekend. The live audience was just pathetic, and the guy presenting it looked very nervy. It was all a bit amateurish, especially with them tinpot league tables.

Watched the League Cup highlights yesterday too, which was slightly better. As you say (anybody else realise Adam Virgo said this about 50 times on Saturday even though nobody said anything?), 25 minutes on the Sky match was ridiculous, spent about 10 minutes interviewing Paul Cook.

I think it'll be back to being shite this Saturday though when they're in the studio with the live audience.

The FLS on BBC did the job perfectly, mostly highlights - all of which were ordered by league - and a bit of relevant chat inbetween. For me the guy who was being asked questions yesterday seemed very awkward and the woman isn't much better, the crowd is ridiculous and the whole thing is a bit too overdone. It's not a very difficult show to make yet they've managed to massively overcomplicate it and screw it up. Nice work Channel 5.

These were a particular highlight of mine, along with interviewing someone from the audience who didnt have a microphone

Don't get your hopes up for improvement, the trailer for Saturday they were showing last night gives the impression it will be the same. It was better last night i feel that will only be for the Capital One Cup.

Judging by our first 2 games I'll still be drowning my sorrows at 9pm every Saturday at this rate!

It's because Sky is heavily involved in it. Murphy said that all they had to do was copy the FLS formula and bang it on at 9, but oh no we have to have this glitzy fucking pantomime with tinpot presenters and a set that is so fucking bright it's radioactive. Total fuck up.

The Claridge thing was a bit of a bandwagon in my opinion - I never thought he was as bad as people made out. Certainly Adam Virgo is taking the concept of the personality bypass to a whole other level.

Is there ANYTHING good about this show? I find myself having to grasp for the sexist point that Kelly Coates is quite fit - not a patch on Jacqui Oatley as a serious football journalist though IMO. In fact on that note If the Channel 5 fiasco was up against the Women's Football Show I'd tape the former for ECFC and our rivals' games and watch the latter, no contest.

She is for about a nanosecond, until you realise that she looks just like her dad in a blonde wig.

Claridge never had a good word to say about us even when we were doing well, he's an ex Wycombe player as well.

No better - it's 50 times worse. At least FLS showed games in League order, non of this "we've showed Sheff Wed, now let's see Sheff Utd", had proper commentators or voiceovers - not leaving it to the bemused presenters to talk over the footage, and didn't have a pointless studio audience - do you really have nothing better to do on a Saturday night? As for Adam Virgo - jeez.

They have tweeted that some tweeks will be made for Saturday ! The format for the league cup show was much better , albeit a little too much of pompey , but they had gone to the hassle of setting up I suppose .. All you need is a presenter , an expert and highlights , they had 2 out of 3 on Wednesday , the Brighton player being the missing link ( literally ) ...

Agree with most.

It was a car crash of a programme. No need for the stupid league table things, the audience or two presenters. Highlights jumping all over the place etc.

FL72 on Sky is the way to do it. None of the above, just goals/red cards.

Alas not all of us can afford to pay for Sky.

Correct .... If 5 dont just give us the goals then they will find thier audience diminishes to a couple of hundred kids

Completely agree woth everyone in the format.

Point 1 play the highlights in league order, with more interesting (normally meaning goals or sendings off) getting more air time and being played first for that league.

2. Find an expert with more charisma and a little more to say for themselves than Virgo. People like Claridge and Savage might come across as a knob sometimes but atleast they have something to say and spark debate. Leroy is sorely miss a man with lotsof knowledge of the leagues, especially L1 and L2 which was a fresh change.

3. If you do have an interesting expert appearing on the show (eg martin Allen) dont wait till half way through the show to call him into the studio and talk to him.

4. Get rid of the audience. They offer nothing to the show other than faces worthy of Jeremy Kyle and fashion fau pars.

5. Stop wandering aimlessly around the studio from panning shot to panning shot.

sort those out and we could be onto something. On the other hand its a far more convenient time than previously haha
