with the recent talk on here of the old days at Ninian Park and the pamperised modern day football experiences, have any of you chaps got any old/recent tales of football violence they've been involved in or witnessed?

personally, I've only ever seen one of my old man's mates get glassed, and have never thankfully been involved in football violence as I'm not one to go out looking for trouble, but fully understand after a day on the piss with't lads, sometimes tempers take over.

fire away boys, this should be intriguing.

cheers.

Someone spilt some fizzy pop on me once, which left me in a sticky situation and with the predicament of whether to retaliate and throw a tissue at them and start a potential turf war. Luckily I refrained and used it to dry myself instead. It was intense.

health and safety culture gone mad these days. they don't let u stand, don't let u drink, nufink. we can't call black people monkeys now cause that's racist. we can't call the ref a retard cause that's ableist. and we can't call their goalie fat cause that's fattist. well i'll tell u what these pc turds are the fattist. i just wanna scream c*** at some frightened child out with their dad. it's a right of passage for men but now they've invited ladies so we can't even scream c***. i just wanna throw some bottles at some opposition fans and shout songs about airplane crashes and horrific stadium accidents but now all the bottles are plastic and have no aerodynamicism. this cuntry has gone to the dogs

My mate got slapped by a lass after asking her for a blowwy in Cardiff wetherspoons this year whilst doing weekend in Cardiff for the game, does that count?
Depending on which Wetherspoons it was will determine whether or not it was an appropriate response!

Only time I've ever been close to trouble was when we played Newport years ago in the Welsh Cup. Even then it was more posturing than anything serious. Though they did outnumber the Cardiff fans!

Go on then, I'll have a serious answer haha!

Doesn't involve me unfortunately but my old man! He often talks about Blackpool away in the 70s and how it all escalated. Him and his mates were watching the game without any problems, then all of a sudden a copper tried to hassle his mate and arrest him!

My dad being my stupid dad, decided then to slap the copper a few times! Well by then, everybody got involved and my old man had a night in the cell! The funny thing was, he had to rush back to Bristol the next day for his sisters wedding...

Safe to say he didn't tell his parents why he stayed there for the night!

How long have you got?

I'll just give the best (if that's the right word), Birmingham away in 95/96. In their infinite wisdom, West Mids police put our fans in the lower tier of the stand, with home fans filling the top. I collected nearly ten quid in change that came down, dodged a few snooker balls, lighters, and I can't even remember what else. After the game, plenty of fist fights in the car park with police not to be found. Managed only one broken window on the coach though.

Being a Wolves fan, sadly there are a few times our fans make the headlines for the wrong reasons. The one that comes to mind when I was personally there was Port Vale away (should be mentioned that this was due to a cock up by the Police at the time, and WMP later admitted full responsibility and apologised)...

Police at Port Vale are a disgrace. We played em on a tuesday last season and after the game they let loads out then decided to kettle the rest of PNE fans in that car park and let the Vale fans past. Well there was only a wall splitting them and they had a line of police dogs all aggro'd. As the vale fans went past it all kicked off, flares and punches thrown etc. They lost complete control. I

Nothing much. 8 or 9 years ago I got a smack round the chops from a blind drunk Millwall blokie outside Dean Court. As you do.

We'd just beaten them 1-0 IIRC. On about 80 minutes the PA announced that the Police would be holding back the away end for 15 minutes. So the away end en mass got up and left there and then before the Police had a chance to assemble at the final whistle. A devious and dastardly plan I'm sure you'll agree.

And then a few of them were running around afterwards trying to provoke a bit of a ruck if they could. Trying to start a fight with fans leaving a Bournemouth game? Really? Hardly seems worth the effort if you ask me. Being one of the few supporters under pensionable age they could find, I clearly had it coming.

The only other would be away at Aldershot about 7 years ago, things got a bit out of hand and the hail of coins that came over the home side of that terrace was pretty hairy. Although the club had just come out of administration at that point, so all charity was gratefully accepted.

Oh, and the usual kids at Port Vale, who I'm sure everyone has seen and laughed at.

I once refrained from throwing a pie at Ade Akinbiyi at Turf Moor.

It would have killed him though, such was the state of the pie (ironically Burnley were sponsored by Hollands at the time), so it was well placed refrain.

That's the only time I've seen anything like that at Football. One of our fans was running down the street, brick in hand, screaming "come on then you c***"

Yeah we had the same, waiting in the coach park for an hour before they took us to the train station. Funny watching about 10 Burslem locals swearing and throwing things at our coach, but they all pissed themselves and ran when one policewoman went to engage them

Guessing they're like this with most away fans.

Never been involved and only time i would do is if i was getting provoked, seen a few incidents though over the years especially at Hillsborough, Chesterfield away a few years ago on a Friday night when they hammered us 5-0 was lively afterwards but the worst ive seen by a long distance was Millwall at home last season, was kicking off all over the place inside and outside in car parks, never seen anything like those fans before.

Absolutely fuck all happens in this video, apart from 1 numpty walking near a police dog. Seen it kick off with you lot on numerous occasions though. Worst iv seen at bramall lane has to be millwall 5 years back, fighting on every street round the ground and on the way to town, the plod had it under control this year though. Hull, boro, west ham, cardiff and man city have all been pretty tasty too at bramall lane.

Football violence isn't what it's cracked up to be, but I can't say I wasn't involved for a lot of my yoooooof.

Been arrested at Oxford's old Manor Ground - spent 18 hours in a cell - and been involved in some serious beef at QPR and Swindon. I think you learn to grow up, but I can't say I didn't meet some great lads along the way.

A reformed character nowadays, but at Bournemouth (A) a few years ago brought a smile to my face. Huge punch-up between 60 Reading and Bournemouth in the car-park, was watching with intrigue as I knew a fair few of the lads out that night!

Blademan, I cant be arsed to post a 100 videos, that was just the first one I found when I typed in Port Vale vs Wolves on Youtube. It was going on a good while, lots of people walked past us with blood pouring down their face too. Lots of innocent people were being attacked by police dogs.

23 arrests that day says another story

Seen plenty and been involved in quite a bit late 70's early 80's but decided to grow up when the fines starting getting higher and they really clamped down by giving over the top prison sentences and banning orders.

Why blame the police at Port Vale when it's clearly their horrible fanbase?
