RIP.

I remember Frank appearing on a Saturday lunchtime footie show parading all his different club shirts. There was laughs and jokes all around.
One of the best players of his era although he never achieved the heights others have done.

met Frank once after he appeared in a charity match at our ground - I was walking home to the village i lived at at the time and this car pulls up as i'm walking up a hill - there's some fit dolly bird in the passenger seat and Frank's driving - I just say hi Frank and then direct him back to the M6 when he asks for directions. A much more down to earth guy than the over-payed top players now.

I was on the 18 yard line when he received the ball for that goal !!! we lost to Ipswich and all people spoke about was the marvel of Frank Worthington, they say Maddison is a maverick lol Now Frank he broke the mould what a talent. sad day for BWFC and his other clubs.

RIP Baldy Frank. Frank was Tranmere Rovers player manager for 20 months in the mid 1980’s and brought a very cavalier style of football to Prenton Park. But we’d often come out of games the wrong side of a 4-3 scoreline.
Frank brought some good players to the club like Ian Muir, John Morrisey, Steve Vickers, and Mark Hughes who would go on and play their parts in almost getting us into the Premier league. The trouble with Frank was that he also brought some of his old drinking partners to the club, players who were well past it like Ray Train and Billy Ashcroft.
Frank went on to play football right up until he was forty, which is remarkable considering he had a hole in his hart. He liked a drink, the odd line and was a prolific shagger.
RIP to one of the great entertainers of 70’s football.

Manchester Road stand Embankment end bang on the 18 yard line, only year i went in the seats for our return to the big time what a view i had, i also used to be a ball boy and stood many times where Julien Darby stood, but that was the mid 60's with Franny Lee , Hoppy and Freddie Hill lol. It says it all that Frank Worthington won the Golden Boot despite playing in a struggling wanderers team, with 24 goals pipping one Kenny Dalgleash for the Boot. what a player he was.

Some of my favourite early memories of Rovers are of watching Frank's side in the mid eighties. In a pretty bleak period for the club, he brought skill, colour and humour.

I always thought of Ian Muir as his protege, as they were very similar forwards in style.

RIP Frank.

Proper footballing family.

His brother Dave played for us for years as a full back. Didn't have the flair of Frank but was a great bloke with the same sort of attitude to life.

RIP Frank.
