Fratton Park- Portsmouth FC Ground Guide

How Easy Was The Ground to Get To (from the station, by car, etc)
Its a very long drive from ours, so Ive drove and got the train. You can get to the ground via Fratton Station about 5 minutes away, which is on the line from London Waterloo.

If Applicable, How is Parking Near The Ground?
There is some, but traffic getting away is really bad, so Id definitely recommend the train rather than parking near the ground.

Based on Where You Were Sat, How Was the View?
Well the first two times I went, the away didnt have a roof, so of course there were no pillars! There are a couple now the Milton End has a roof, but they are quite small, so could be a lot worse.

How Were The Stewards on The Day?
No problems.

If You Ate at The Ground, How Would You Rate the Food?
Another ground where the concourse area is just far too small and you cant get near the bar to even try.

How Was The Atmosphere At The Ground, From Both Sets of Supporters? Does the Stadium Hold the Noise?
Atmosphere is always very good. Now the away fans get a roof, we can join in now too!

How Are the Pubs and Local Attractions in The Local Area?
Few places to eat and drink nearby, while away fans are always fine in the Good Companion.

Overall Score Out of 10?
One of the worst away ends ever, but a decent day overall with a good atmosphere.

Easy by train, Fratton Park is about 5 minutes walk from Fratton station
If Applicable, How is Parking Near The Ground?
It doesn't look good. that bit of Portsmouth is full of tightly packed terraced housed streets and it looks like any sort of parking would be at a premium

Based on Where You Were Sat, How Was the View?
The Milton End has a roof with a couple of supporting pillars at the front. The seats have been plonked on the old terracing rake and the leg-room won't be great for anyone taller than me. If you're part of a big away following, I think you may have a problem having a good view in view of this and the fact that the elevation of the stand is pretty small. Also, this stand may be roofed but it's open at the back and the wind can come swirling through. I think you could be pretty cold in winter.
On the plus-side Fratton Park just oozes character as a ground, it being one of the very few grounds that now has an Archibald Leitch grandstand (with its Tudor entrance façade) and you can make a good noise in the away end.
How Were The Stewards on The Day?
No problems for me but other Barnet fans reported that they were pretty arsey.

If You Ate at The Ground, How Would You Rate the Food?
I didn't try but the concourse is pretty small. However, £1 for a cup of tea sounds like decent value.
How Was The Atmosphere At The Ground, From Both Sets of Supporters? Does the Stadium Hold the Noise?
Atmosphere is always very good. When the Pompey fans sang "Play up Pompey," there was a noise level that I don't recall ever hearing at any other League 2 ground.

How Are the Pubs and Local Attractions in The Local Area?
If I were you, I'd get down to the harbour front. There are some good places to eat and drink in Old Portsmouth right by the sea plus there's the famous dockyards with its world-famous ships to see as well.
Overall Score Out of 10?
The away end is basic but the ground is worth visiting and it's a good trip down.
