Didn't know where to post this as there isn't a European football sub-forum yet.

I'll try and rebuild everyone's enthusiasm (or lack of it) for French football.

Caen won a football match last night for the first time since mid-October!

Good effort from Yzeure (div. 4) who have knocked out Valenciennes (div. 2).

Nantes 2-1 up on Lyon at half-time. Could be a bit of an upset as well although not the same stretch obviously.

You know what the whole planet should not be looking forward to? Lille vs Monaco! The two most boring teams in the world!

Lille have been awful since selling Kalou. When we played them in the Europa they were hopeless going forward. Solid defence but when there's nothing in attack the defence will crumble.

Are Monaco still not signing anyone?

Even with Kalou, they still didn't score many goals. But he did score a few goals which they haven't replaced.

As for Monaco, they recently signed Bernardo Silva from Benfica but if doesn't look like they'll be getting anyone else in. They have some money available.

Lille have been terrible under Girard and things aren't all rosy currently. They certainly miss the good old days of Garcia.
Monaco are probably one of the worst teams to watch but they are winning games. Their win at Lille yesterday was their 5th in 6th and with Saint-Etienne they are the only side capable of breaking the top 3 of Lyon, Marseille and PSG.

Metz will be hard done by. First Bisevac should have been cautioned for an elbow, the penalty is extremely generious by the ref never a red card for Milan and Umtiti should have been sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
I haven't watched Lyon that much this season and it is true that they are very enjoyable to watch but for all their footwork and passing, Carrasso - the Metz keeper - didn't have an awful lot to do.

Worrying for Lyon is that Lacazette has gone off injuried. Depending how bad it is, could miss PSG game in 2 weeks.

Great work by Gourcuff (who is fit!) for that 2nd. Lyon haven't looked very sharp in the penalty area. Nice game though.

Really need to beat Saint-Etienne tonight. Won't be easy.

Important win for PSG thanks to an Ibra penalty. However, it shouldn't have been one!
PSG had chances with Veratti and Cavani but defended well.
