Horrible typical match against a Nathan Jones side. Charlton constantly tried to slow the game down. Admittedly Pompey didn't create to much, but with abit more quality/luck could have got all 3, however 0-0 was a good reflection of the game. Results went for us so we're in a better position at ft.
I’m surprised at this. Actually thought we played to quite a high tempo with next to no time wasting. Maybe it’s just been because I’ve been used to such lazy slow play the rest of the season. In fact I remember Norris going down when we were gaining momentum. Think we managed to limit you by trying to mark Lane out the game.

Thought Portsmouth were even more guilty of that which surprised me.

We were absolutely garbage yesterday. Loads of strikers but can’t muster anything up. Awful. I left early it was that bad.
Worry’s me. If we don’t beat Carlisle Tuesday we are back in it im sure.

Both sides equally as guilty as each other, I felt. Just watching the highlights back, on another day one of those first half chances we create ends up in the back of the net. We're usually more clinical than that so hopefully we'll put that right when Oxford come to Fratton Park next week.

Charlton generally looked quite solid overall, I hope that continues on Tuesday night!

Yes, I thought tactically Jones was spot on yesterday. He limited the effectiveness of Lane and Kamara. Callum Lang also seemed to be surrounded by players on the few occasions he got the ball.

A fair result overall, and a good point for us. This clearly is a better version of Charlton than even a few weeks ago and I expect to see them pull away from the relegation zone in the next few weeks. The signs are good that Jones will have them high up the table next season IMHO.

Not a bad weekend for us considering the Derby and Bolton losses. An even better weekend for Barnsley who are now well in the mix for the autos. Peterborough are still just about in there too but can't afford any more slip ups.

Eurgh! A drum is the worst of the worst. I hate our goal music but anyone who brings a drum into a football ground should have it slit immediately with a Stanley knife.

Personally I don’t mind a drum and, done well, I think it can actually help boost and rally chants.

But we have one drummer guy who has been banned from playing at home games as he has literally no sense of rhythm, and just messes everything up.

He has learning difficulties as well as having no filter, so if people tell him to put a sock in it, then the aggro starts…

He was that bad that the Sky commentators singled him out for his racket when we were on tv in the Tinpot semi last week.

Vale has one in the Paddock 10-15 years back… however he was there one New Years Day game and well not the ideal day to be banging a drum for the people around you is it so he got a bit of stick and wasn’t seen again!

Yeah I'd say that game deserved a 0-0 result after a frantic start dissolved into a pretty turgid affair. Frustrating as I know we're capable of far better than that but just didn't really show up today. Still, could turn out to be a decent point with Bolton and Derby both losing.
Charlton battled and fought for that point. A fair score I thought. If you can't win don't lose

We’ve hit 40 points but yesterday was a tough watch at times. So much passing in our own half but very few chances were created. I feel for Mo Eisa who had no one within 20 yards of him at times. Took our goal well but that was about it.

Fleetwood came out second half after making 4 subs and looked so much better. They must have had 4 or 5 clear chances before they inevitably scored. So predictable.

We huffed and puffed in the final 10 mins. Had a goal disallowed but didn’t work the ‘keeper.

Next two are away at Peterborough and home to Bolton. Lose those and we’re going be precariously placed.

How did Woods get on, did you notice him on the pitch?

You started well with plenty of balls in the box but after that there was nothing really to mention. As you say, loads of forward players on but not a lot being created and it was pretty agricultural when it was going forward. That being said when Helm tried to play forward after intercepting he squared it straight to Pinnock who then scored. Feel like with Cheltenham finding form that you will be in amongst the fight to avoid the drop.

Though Marc Leonard was outstanding yet again and he is one that I think can play high end championship at least. We have had Matt Grimes and Matt Crooks in recent times who have both had good championship careers in midfield and he is way better than both at a younger age.

That Lincoln defender isn't 10 yards but what would really have helped Vale is if they didn't simply pass the ball straight to him lol, get what you deserve for that frankly
Totally agree hence I needed to see it again, at the time in the ground i wasn't paying attention as it was just a free kick deep in our own half for offside, just heard a groan looked and saw Smith with his arm up and their lad slotting home.

Smith is fully to blame there, its not like Lincoln didn't have a vibrant kit on that you can't see! It had loads of pink on it so not sure what he saw or his thought process, hes struggled though this season and the Captaincy has weighed too much for me.

Can't believe the ref hasn't given that penalty in the first half on Hackett!

I can probably count the number of decent refs we've had this season on one hand, hell even Alex Brooker could as well..

Ojo should have been sent off in the first half too. Ref went to get his card and then brought out the magic spray. Both bookable offences.

Each to their own, but to me nothing says lower league tinpot than a drum. Atmosphere shouldn't need to be generated by instruments.

So glad we dont have any drummers, even though our atmosphere is a bit flat lately (mainly due to conceding early goals)

If anyone got a drum out at the Vale, it would probably shoved over their head after 5 minutes.

Our atmosphere is poor too. Mainly due to the fact that we've lost 10 at home but also our stadium is way too big, stands are too far away from the pitch and there's precious little interaction with the away fans now we have swapped ends. We desperately need to move to say a 12-15k stadium, with the scope to extend if needed. It's worked and really pushed a lot of other clubs on. Vale Park hasn't been a fortress for a long time, even when we've been promoted.

Personally I thought he was probably our MOTM.
If we get him on a permanent next season, I'll be more than happy for him to replace Carroll

He was also our MOTM after the first game but soon went downhill fast and got sent off away at Burton, which was the only thing of note he did here really.
Did anyone notice if he did the warm-up on his own on Sat? He did with us and many thought it was a bit weird

I get so annoyed weekly with how shit we are/have been.

In a league where Portsmouth, Derby and Bolton are the best it can offer and yet we’re still 5th from bottom, just shows you how terrible we have been this season.

Our 2019 play-off winning team would have this league wrapped up by now. Infuriating.

That’s not a dig at those 3 really, but I’ve seen all 3 in the last few weeks and they’re not great, you don’t have to be, you just need to be better than 21 other teams and they obviously have been.
Doubt that Charlton team would get near a full fit Bolton squad. Complete spine of the team was missing for that game.....Baxter, Santos, Thomason, Charles along with another 5/6 injured in the squad.

You never laid a glove on us earlier in the season at Charlton

Charlton have been terrible since before the pandemic, despite spending big year on year
