Bristol are the Rugby team.
No. Bristol is the place.

Bristol Rovers FC
Bristol City FC
Bristol Rugby Club or Bristol Rugby

Now stop being a knob, if you're going to be a pedant at least do your job properly.

It is these days. But Bristol is referred to as the rugby club.

Unless you’re gonna start calling the Manchesters, Manchester or Nottinghams, Sheffields etc - then it’s Rovers or Bristol Rovers.

It does piss me off that a number of FGR fans (and club officials for that matter) refer to Orient as "Leyton". Just, no.
Is this a serious post? People actually call you Leyton?!

Most people call us Bradford which is so wrong and very annoying.

Bradford played on the other side of town and lost their FL membership in 1970.

I wasn't the one trying to start a nonsensical argument off because I said 'Bristol vs FGR'

I'd say FGR are missing you, but there's plenty of idiots there already based on this forum - Then again, at least you'd fit in.

The idea it's annoying or pisses you off because someone shortens the club name is the most middle-class, prawn sandwich eating shite i've ever heard. Jesus wept. Thankfully I've never heard anyone ever cry in our fine city when people refer to us as 'Exeter' instead of 'Exeter City'.

Most people would probably think you were referring to Exeter Chiefs, they are by far the higher profile and more successful sporting institution in the city these days......

Seriously though it's only normally an issue in places with two decent sized clubs, Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol etc.

And two seasons later I remember my local side, Exmouth Town, got to the semi of the FA Vase, it was a big thing at the time. They played some small club from up North called Fleetwood Town. Wonder what happened to them?
I went to that game Denzel. I’m originally from Dawlish and in those days Dawlish and Exmouth lads used to go to City away games together so got to know a few of them. We went over for a few beers with the Exmouth lads. A bit of trouble in the ground and after, but it was the 80’s !

There was over 700 for our top of the table victory against Tavistock the other day. The infamous muff town casuals were all well behaved. I tend to go to Exmouth or Budleigh games more often than Exeter games (Exeter City, I clearly need to stipulate now) these days. Some good players and we get a lot of Exeter has-beens pop up.

Nobody thinks anyone is referring to the Chiefs. If you say 'I'm going up Exeter this weekend for the game', I can't imagine anyone would think of Exeter Chiefs, as they're referred to only as Chiefs. But then I guess you'd end up thinking that meant I was going to some type of Indian festival.

God you lot are odd.

Not me! Rather that people at FGR refer to the club based in London E10 as "Leyton". Rather than by its historic name or indeed what anyone in East London calls it.

Basically all part of the same club isn't it? The French branch have slightly nicer beaches, although not much in it.

I dunno, I think I'd rather reside in Sadiq Khan's lovely Leyton than be by that beach.

Everyone knows Rovers refers to Blackburn. The sheeple from Tranmere & Bristol etc just look daft trying to make it their own.

Think he put on Twitter where he was and the thieves ambushed him. Feel for him, but there are certain areas around here where after a certain time you simply don’t go into.
