I see Phil Brown in the press asking his players to "go to war" against Exeter. How very Churchillian of him. I have to say, even though we are ridiculously inconsistent of late, I think we will manage to win this one and keep our play off hopes alive

True.

Apparently half of their 80 or so regulars packed them in when they changed from their tangerine and black kit.
Tranmere played in Orange and Maroon from 1889 until 1904
Think Robshep still has the old Orange and Moron retro shirt in his maisonette.
They then went back to there Everton wannabee strip of Blue tops white shorts and blue socks right the way up until 1962.
It was not until 1962 that they played in a all white strip with blue trim after a Tranmere Rovers director found yes found 11 Real Madrid strips at his day job at Liverpool Docks

Game day.... apparently we have not lost in our last 18 games against Grimsby and they are bottom. Would be typical Bolton to lose this one but a win and we could go top. In the middle of January we were only concerned about staying up. A couple of wins later and we thought outside chance of the playoffs ... now I’d be gutted if we miss out on the autos. Crazy season

Game day......apparently we have lost one of our 18 games since the end of January. We play the bottom team today and can go top if Cambridge lose. In January a couple of decent signings and we would at least get to the play offs. 14 wins and 3 draws later worst we could finish was the play-offs.....Now i would be gutted if we dont win the league.............Tinpot season

I’ve always had Newport down as a bogey team (along with Exeter, Wrexham and Kidderminster) and while they did beat us six games in a row a few years ago, we do edge the overall head to head record.

I think I’d put us back in the box seat for the title if we win today but I’d firmly given up on the title after our maulling by Exeter last weekend. In truth, I’d snap your hand off for a draw if you offered it to me now.

What will Paddy McGuinness do when you stop writing for him. Will he finally become the funny man he likes to think he is. My god there is no limit to how pathetic you can be.

If we play like we did against carlisle you will walk away with the 3 points, but if we play like we did against bolton your in for a very uncomfortable afternoon and you will walk away with nothing.

Don’t understand why you have to turn a discussion about kit colour changes into a brief history of Tranmere kits... A notlob fan obsessed with Rovers, surely not?

Salford changing their kit to red probably due to the involvement of the Classless of 92 was bad imo, the same way as Man City forcing Hyde to change their colours from red when City reserves were using their ground. Not entirely keen on Dale Vince changing Forest Green colours as part of his company promotion, but their fans seem happy enough and it is more distinctive which Salford’s wasn’t.

As for Rovers, think the orange and maroon kit was associated with the precursor club Belmont which became Rovers. The Trust gave all season ticket holders a scarf and shirt in those colours around 15 years ago, still see a lot of the scarves around. Otherwise blue then white. For some reason there’s a real aversion using red in Rovers kits, we’ve rarely had a red away kit.

Undoubtedly the most famous change of strip was when Leeds changed to all white during the Don Revie era.
Revie greatly admired Real Madrid and chose to imitate their strip for his own team.
During Revie's tenure as manager, Leeds United won numerous titles wearing that all white strip.

Everyone changes kit through the years......No time for Salford whatsoever, but we have all done it

I don't expect anything today but I just hope our players put in a semblance of effort and play for the manager.

To add to our quite ridiculous injury list, our manager and most of the backroom staff are now missing today due to illness.

Just can't catch a break.

We're league 2 next season so acquainting myself with the surroundings. It's much busier here than league 1.

The obvious difference between our alternation of kits and those of Salford, is that ours were largely instigated by the supporters.

The return to a white kit in 1987 was popular with our fans, whereas I would guess Salford's kit change, which was imposed from above, was not wanted by the small core of supporters they had at the time.

Correction: just seen that BITDHSS has made the same point above.

Doesn’t look great for you guys sadly. Just got to hope you can finally get rid of Power and move forward. Always felt from the outside looking in that Swindon’s problems never really went away even with how well you did last season.

Probably for another thread really but am hoping Wigan can stay up otherwise may as well book them in for a automatic spot next season.

We are friar tucked currently. Moves are afoot to try and get Power out, some sponsors have pulled out until he goes etc. We have a credible buyer lined up but until Power fucks off we are going one way.

It’s just one of those things. I would have took just missing out on the playoffs at the start of the season. Got to be pleased despite it being a little disappointing considering the position we were in January.
