Good god, this is grim stuff at the moment. Every time we play Harrogate, we say 'law of averages, we have to beat them eventually'. But this time... this time I just can't see it. How have we got it so wrong? All this dollar, all this stuff going on off the pitch... and yet so far away on it....

Probably the fact our owners let Simpson and his staff remain at the club for too long even after it was clear they were all clueless, defeated and way out of their depths.
How Abbott is still there I don't know because after all the money that was wasted last January you'd think he'd have been the first to go.

When we have a starting line up with a defence of Barclay, Lavelle, Mellish and a midfield with the likes of Neal and Vela you have to wonder what the hell was our recruitment even doing in the summer??

Some of these players we signed last January to prepare us for L2 because they would apparently be good L2 players who'd help us come back up yet they've all been absolutely shite. Good job Greggy Abbott!

I feel sorry for Williamson because of what he has been left to work with.

Another team in the top 6 to contend with in Walsall and another side who absolutely battered us last season. Win this and we start a kind looking run until Xmas in terrific shape.

We’ve somehow got even more injuries to contend with now, just as it felt like things were easing up a bit. I reckon it might be our first draw of the season, which I’d be fairly chuffed with.
I keep reading about this ‘kind looking run’ up to Xmas but I think the division is so tight, no game is more winnable than any other.
‘Freak’ results occur in every set of results. If ever was a time to take each game as it comes, this is it!

I tipped Walsall pre-season to make the play-offs, still think they will. They have goals in their team.

Agree with you in that I’d gladly take a draw

Had a quick browse of your forum the other day as the meltdowns seem similar to our message boards when we are doing badly and now we are doing a bit better i have had to look elsewhere for my fix of impending doom .

The thing that made me stand up was that the poster 'Keywest' is either one of those Piateks or someone extremely close to them ; pushing positivity and effectively telling some of your fanbase in a subtle way to wind their neck in which I found interesting....

He's someone close to them and I have to say our owners are doing fantastic work off the pitch quickly moving us forward on that side of things, but on the pitch they've been very soft and naive and too slow to react like not sacking Simpson last season then leaving it too late and it seems like whoever is advising them on football matters is pretty shit at that role after our sporting director mess leaving us hoodwinked by some slimey turd at MK Dons.

Two thirds of the season and another transfer window to go.

I can't believe someone has thought moving our game away to Newport to a Friday night was a decent call. WTF

You should know by now that fans are the least important in considerations. Newport fans had to come to us on a Monday evening.

Well we will have to play better than we did at our last away game at Salford if we are going to get anything at Notts County. Joe Lewis is a big loss for us at centre back . We had a central midfield player playing at centre back against Carlisle last week. He did nothing wrong but Carlisle were so poor he wasn't really tested. He might play there again on Saturday. Anyway all clubs have to deal with injuries. There are no stand out teams in this league so we shouldn't really fear anyone. In saying that I'd take a point .

I agree.
Some of our fans are over dramatic and spit the dummy out after every defeat.
Injured players returning, a transfer window coming and a new decent manager implementing a structured style of play are all positive reasons for us to survive.
Harrogate on Saturday will be tough, but I'm still optimistic that it could be a turning point for our home form.

That would make perfect sense if he didn't support Notts County.
D'oh! It was late at night after a very busy shift.

Yup, we've won all 4 matches against Notts County.

A transfer window coming gives us reasons to be positive? What with Abbott recruiting players?
I've heard that one before and look how both windows turned out. As for the crock players coming back, how long until they're out injured again?

Our fans have good reason to be spitting the dummy out considering we're bottom of L2 and playing absolutely shite with overpaid wimps who have no fight.

Agree.

I don’t think you can class any Carlisle fan as being over dramatic for being majorly concerned by our league position when it’s something like 45 defeats in our last 65 games.

Its hard to have any faith in there being a turnaround any time soon when you look at that.

Aka the half court press, although Gills who were more impressive to me sat deeper.
Too deep wouldn't work for us as Stockley wasn't fit until the last 30 and we lost one the leagues best players to a leg fracture (sound familiar!) :ffs: so would have left us less of an outlet to get out without the big man up top and the footballing ability of Byers.

First thing they need to get done immediately is to appoint a sporting director to put a stamp on things and finally have someone in the hierarchy who knows what the hell they're doing regarding football matters.
Then start getting prepared for any good free agents and the January window which has got to be a bloody good one or we're fucked.

Only hope we've got from now till then is if these players coming back from injury can stay fit long enough to stop us from getting cut adrift at the bottom.

I thought 2 wins in a row was a lot, but us going two games without a defeat seems like too much to ask of them.

How is Jevani doing? Seems he has swopped our stands for your bench?

Limited opportunities, limited impression so far. To defend him the quality up to him has been poor but he's done next to nowt. His biggest contribution was the dangerous scuffed cross that caused chesterfield to handle the ball not once but twice just make sure they gave us a deserved point.

Hard for him to do much with McGoldrick and Jatta ahead of him.

He looks devoid of confidence and a bit lost. Really not sure what we're expecting of him, we seem to just throw him on and hope he does something.

He needs a couple of starts with the proper team, but he seems to be suffering the same problem as Morias (minus the constant injuries) in that he’s a different kind of striker and we don’t adapt our game when he’s on. With Langstaff and now Jatta, we’re not really asking them to get involved in the game. Just press when we don’t have the ball, and when we do have it stay right upfront and wait for your tap in from a cut back or header from a cross.

Brown looks to me like he wants more touches and to get involved more, but we’re not used to that so don’t adapt how we play and get men around him when he’s on the pitch. McGoldrick is experienced and good enough to just keep dropping deeper and deeper until he’s doing stuff and making people run beyond him when he starts upfront on his own, but Brown hasn’t got that sort of aura so just ends up completely anonymous.

I’d like to see us starting with two of the three together at home now anyway.

Definitely want to see two strikers at home. We're giving opposition defences an easy ride with just Jatta in there because the midfielders aren't really overloading the six yard box when we put crosses in.

The amount he talks about us (specifically Blundell Park), you can forgive someone for thinking he's a Town fan.

Well there is your textbook definition right there.

Although I've long had a soft spot for GTFC I can't be a Town fan I'm not anywhere near enough obsessed with away followings and talking about them.

That's been my thoughts. Jatta has been close to sensational even though he's isolated for large periods. One up top works and has been working but where are the midfielders joining him in the box when balls come in from advanced positions????

We have now gone 36 games without a draw. Last draw was 6 January in the FA Cup. Last draw in the league was 1 January. Take a point.

We entertain Gillingham at VP this weekend. Our home form is strong, but historically, we tend to draw with Gills ( a lot ).

Fancy us to win 3-1.

A win will likely put us in the auto positions - could be worse, seeing as though we have 8 players out injured.

Haha - just as we’re getting bodies back, an illness is sweeping through the squad.

I swear, without no luck we wouldn’t get any luck at all.

Hopefully it isn’t as bad as it sounds, but we know it’s affected 4 players in the past 24 hours. Something tells me it’s Cook.
