Depressing thought.
Fulham arrive fresh off taking QPR to the cleaners.
Wolves about equal to nine-man Preston, having been taken to the cleaners by QPR a few weeks back.

Wolves will approach this with a "park the team coach over there...yes, in front of that goal, and if people complain they can't see, move it down the other end at half time". It's a 'do not lose' game as scoring is something Wolves manage only in nightclubs.

Biggest cheer of the evening from the Wolves fans will be for Richard Stearman.

Prediction: form says Fulham 3 - 0 Wolves. Can't really argue with that.

4-1 Fulham

Ethan Ebanks-Landell / Kourtney Hause to give away a penalty is pretty much nailed on

And you called us a bunch of pessimists!

Best midfielder runs his contract down and not replaced.
Best striker injured for entire season and not replaced.
Best defender sold on Transfer Deadline day and not replaced.
Chaos among goalkeepers with loss of confidence all round.
Just the one clean sheet this season.
Despondent manager making witless comments in interviews.
Rumours of turmoil behind the scenes at the club.
Declining attendances.
Couldn't beat 9 man Preston
Not a single shot on target in one match a few weeks ago. Think about this.
Club suddenly put up for sale, with consequential impact on morale and performance.

Pessimist? Yeh, I'll take that.

Yet you still see yourself sit above 8 other clubs, a game in hand over all of them. Which with a win, will take you top half.

I could easily list you our problems which give more cause for pessimism..

Finally, Benik's out for the season?! ;)

We sit where we are because of points won in the first few weeks of the season.....before Dicko was injured, before Stearman left, before the goalkeeping crisis.....

Your club has problems because it didn't spend money in the summer; ours has problems despite spending money in the summer.

To be fair our spend this summer wasn't too dissimilar to yours. All I'm saying is for someone who said we were being pessimistic before Reading dispatched us you are being quite negative! As you put it, 'Lighten up, ffs!'

(*If you take a hammering tonight I reserve the right to say your pessimism was fully justified)

I am, naturally, hopeful of a win tonight but in the last month we have been absolutely played off the park. QPR were "far better" than us according to neutral observers and QPR were taken to the cleaners by Fulham at the weekend.

I am quite rarely really pessimistic, but it feels like all the planets are aligned in the wrong way at the moment. It feels like the situation we had three seasons ago.

Another game vs 10 men with Tom Cairney sent off....

It's like people are toying with us

Hearing that after being sent off, Cairney went and set on the bench 2nd half. Which is actually against the FA rules, wonder if anything will come off that, may seem pedantic, and I hate to compare playing 14 leagues below the prem in some mickey mouse Sheffield league, however once saw a team get a points fine as they couldn't wouldn't make a lad leave the dugout when the ref told them to.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett:

"You can see from Fulham, where they had a fantastic performance against QPR (winning 4-0) in the last game here and did very, very well."

---

Yet another game where Jackett praises the opposition, even when we win 0-3. Really wondering what his motives are.

0-3. 10th in the league. What a disaster you are!

Thrilled but stunned by the result.

It changes little, although I hadn't realised - in points terms - how close we were to the play-offs (just three points away).

But one win doesn't change much (just as one loss doesn't): it was only our second win in eight League matches.
You've got to remember that fans of a club follow the ins and outs, the nuances, the subtle undercurrents much more closely than others. We see the individual performances, we see the various reports and various forums on how things are going, and we see our manager talking of being able to "compete" in the Championship and clearly showing he was unhappy with the lack of investment in players over the summer. An unhappy manager, an owner that's selling up, poor results, mediocre squad...none of it make for good news.

I'm extremely happy to beat Fulham (in particular, after they unsettled two of our players last summer) but still realistic that we have have an uphill struggle.

Kevin McDonald no doubt delighted to beat such a massive club.
