I do like the look of that trailer. I'm still a couple of 100 pages off finishing a Feast for Crows, so for once I've got book spoilers.

*Goosebumps* This can't come soon enough now, just 72 days to go!

Hard to tell too much from that trailer (other than that it looks awesome), sure they'll be plenty more coming in the next few weeks. Looks like Varys is taking up the role of Magister Illyrio which is fair enough - and the scenes between him and Tyrion are always gold.

And was that Jorah in a fighting pit at one point? Interesting to see where they go with that... Trying to work out what battle Jon was charging into as well..unless it was just the aftermath of the battle of the Wall?

*squuuueeeeeeeeee*

I was thinking this series was going to be a slow one, but doesn't look like it. unless they have just put all the action scenes in the trailer

Does anyone browse the westeros forum? Half the posters there seem to be genuinely insane but it can make for interesting and entertaining reading at times!

I've been on a couple of times, some people will defend their theories of what will happen next or a conspiracy theory without thinking things through which is annoying. I think you could say that about most forums

Got to be honest it's a bit intimidating the depths of analysis some people go to on there! Like reading some of the more outlandish theories though.

What's this news about Winds of Winter...?

It's definitely not going to be released in 2015. I think most people expected it to be honest but it's still hugely frustrating with the TV show close to catching up with the books.

Ah ffs, it is looking less and less likely he'll finish them in time. I was really hoping it would be released with the end of this season.

Ah well, just started the Wheel of Time series, that'll have to tide me over for now.

The publisher didn't actually say definitely not being released this year. She said that it wasn't currently on their list of books for this year, that could still change but is unlikely.

That is true but we need something to talk about in the wait until April!

We can complain about George RR Martin all we want but at least he isn't taking 55 years between releasing books.

I don't think the wait between books would be as annoying, if it wasn't for the fact that the series is now going to spoil the books, and the new content is going to brought to us in a far less enjoyable manner.

Looked through the new cast, serious lack of new tail. Nonetheless, looking forward to it, especially with no Bran. It'll be cool to see who skips ahead of their timeline in the books a bit though - Arya's obviously a bit behind but it'd be cool if they gave Khaleesi some shit to do rather than the mundane role she has in the books for a while.

Dany is far more popular in the show than she is amongst people who read the books. I expect her to have many scenes. The showrunners also seem to hate Stannis. :(

I read 4 and a half of those before giving up. Loved the first 3 before I just completely lost interest.

I'm about a third of the way through the 2nd and absolutely racing through it! But yeah I heard it gets a bit bogged down in the middle, apparently it is worth persevering with as it does eventually pick up again.

GRRM says the only reason WoW hasn't been scheduled for release this year is because he can't promise his publisher that it'll be done this year. But he said there's still a chance of it being released this year so.... fingers crossed.

Also, potential season 5 spoilers:

It seems the whole "Hooded Woman" IMDB thing is bullshit as Michelle Fairley's agent says she isn't scheduled to appear in Season 5. There are rumours that Sansa is to do Lady Stoneheart's duty this season, which would kind of make sense given that she is at the end of her story in the books and would probably need something else to do, but at the same time just wouldn't be anywhere near as menacing as Stoneheart.

From what I've read on Westeros.org there seems to be a 3/4 month turn around on the book being completed and then it being published, so that means we can rule out anything up to June for definite. There has to be some pressure on to get in finished in the next 9 months so the TV series doesn't significantly overtake the books just yet but then with the final book it looks like we will see the ending on screen first.

That does sound like it could be pretty awesome in it's own way, and a good way to go with her and Littlefinger's storyline. Don't see how they'd link it in with the Brienne and Jaime stuff though

And from GRRM's quotes it does at least sound like he's close to finishing WoW. I was starting to worry there was another Meereenese Knot type scenario and we'd still be waiting another couple of years. Assuming it's a big one that'll be another 2 seasons worth of material and the final book of a big series like this is usually the quickest to write, having thought about it it's still quite possible he'll manage to hang on ahead of the show.
