What looked a promising end of season for play-off aspirants (I expected 12th and dreamed of 7th) in the innocent days of August, now looks an ugly mess for us. We could do a job on Cheltenham tomorrow night but could equally well embarrass ourselves (they won at ours with a minor Money meltdown). Most U's have a soft spot for former manager, Garry Johnson. My mate knew him well in his days coaching Latvia. All-in-all a nice bloke - an opinion only enhanced by what he did to Posh and the Cobblers.

We'll probably bring just short of 200 for a mid-week trek to a match that has reduced in importance since Saturday. A solid midfield and hard working strikers (no names no pack drill) will set us up for a Kaikai winning goal after he comes on in the second half.

Getting into last chance saloon for Cheltenham so I can see them properly going for it, don't trust our defence to be able to withstand it, 2-1 loss.

So a draw puts us out of reach mathematically from Cheltenham and I'd be very happy with us as other results may go our way to make us fully safe. Johnson will no doubt have Cheltenham pumped up for this so we'll have our work cut out.

As an aside, if we have a cheap start next season and are in the bottom 6 in, say, November then I'd love Johnson to take charge of us as I think he'd be a great fit again. But fingers crossed it won't come to that.

As someone who only saw Beck hopelessly relegate us, I wouldn't want another successful ex-manager being ruined for me!

I hope Cheltenham stay up and GJ stays there so we can welcome him back to Huish Park next season

Well we went for the "..equally well embarrass ourselves" option. Midfield was as solid as runny custard and the rest were not much better.

Apologies to Hartlepool, Carlisle and Tranmere. We were as poor as any of you 3 at your worst. Apart from Dominic Ball and possibly a couple of others, they embarrassed themselves out of their skins. Just looking forward to the summer clear out now.

Credit to Cheltenham fans. Most that I spoke to said there were some good players in there but this season's managers couldn't get performances out of them- they recognised that the basis for this season of results started with short termism in the summer.

High point was a few excellent pints in the Kemble Brewery and unexpectedly bumping into the Cheltenham duo who shared our chips and a lift up the hill at Nailsworth last season.

Yes we were sat out the back of that pub pre-game too and it was absolutely superb, things only got worse from there though sadly!

That was the first time I think in this god awful run that collectively as a team we've lacked the effort, there was just no desire there at all, and amazingly even less once they scored their 2nd. How we won at Northampton I will never know but thank fuck we did.

The cull list is getting bigger by the game, I only hope Richard Money is, for once, thinking exactly the same, or else it'll be him being culled in the first couple of months of next season.
