Back to some propa football with a tasty looking match at the Mem.
Gills have surprisingly struggled a bit so far considering the expensively assembled talent that is available to them. We've found our form in this division and I'm unusually confident about this one. With Matty Taylor back to full fitness and our ( Chelsea's) little magician Colkett pulling the strings I'm going for a 4-1 victory for the triumphant Gas.

We'll win a game soon, and we certainly have the players to win this one. I think we'll do alright in this away from Priestfield and a baying mob of away fans like at Wimbledon. 3-1 Gills, about 200 away fans, Cody, Byrne and Nouble for us.

Everyone takes the lead against us this season. We'll go 1 down and turn it around to a 3-1 victory.

I don't know about taking the lead, but we have come from behind more times than the Brighton home end this season.
I would really like to win this one as I can't help feeling that the Gas are in serious danger of becoming annoyingly cocky and over confident.
They have had an OK start for a small club near City, but let's not get carried away chaps.
Two predictions so far on this thread 4-1 and 3-1.
Anyway, we have been beyond shit for quite a while now so I go into the game more in hope than expectation.

4/10, must do better.

As for the game, I don't think we'll thrash anyone this season, nor will we get thrashed. Another close game here, we'll go 1 down for sure and either draw 1-1 or win 2-1.

Think Gillingham are our bogey team though which wont help matters

Another big home crowd Gasheads? Saw the other day that you're averaging more than Millwall; impressive, and good to see both of us getting good numbers through the gates. It's about time!

Are we? I know we did the double over you last time we were in the same league, but that season we were Champions and you went down so hardly surprising...In my 4 visits to the Mem I've only seen us win that one time!

You've started very well and are potentially one of the biggest clubs in this division but you are not THAT good. Your posting is a tad disrespectful to a team that though ravished with injuries will still field a good side. Indeed, the 2 most talented players on view will be wearing Gills colours. One of them doesn't always perform but his Bristol connection might have a bearing in this game. For me, a draw or narrow win for the Gills.

I'm sure the Gills fans aren't offended by my barely literate, oafish musings.
On the game, I think we'll have too much for them atm. But they've got some fantastic players for league one and one or two them are going to be keen to shut us up on Saturday.

You will have watched very few of our games over the last couple of years as a Bradford fan I'm sure, so you're basing that off one performance. We didn't play exceptionally at your place by any stretch, but we still took a point away with us.

We are playing really well at the moment and there is a feel good factor around the club, so of course people are going to be optimistic. We need to tighten up defensively - and I'd definitely start Clarke-Salter to help achieve that - but we are looking good in attack and I'd fancy us to do well against anyone. That's not to say I am underestimating Gillingham, I'm just confident in my team too.

We will definitely need to do a job on JET though (if he plays). You can guarantee he'll raise his game against us!

I am basing my prediction on 1 game, whereas you didn't show a lot going forward, you did battle hard and put a shift in. Gills however are now experienced at this level, have some good players and will not roll over which is what Aber appeared to suggest.

What does experience at a level count for? Momentum within a club is far more significant, surely?

There's quite a few examples in recent years of momentum carrying over to the next season after achieving something, Rovers last year is one of them. We did the same in 2008 as well, we didn't necessarily have the most talented group of players but they were well drilled and winning became a habit.

Maybe it was away.

I can't quite remember too much, just that in recent times, we rarely seem to beat you - mainly remembering that my mate from uni was an arrogant 'f*ing gills init fan' and it used to wind me right up

I remember when you p*ssed L2 and he literally stopped going to games because you beat Morecambe 3-0 or something and he thought the league was too easy and not enjoyable to watch. I literally couldn't believe it.

I've always thought that experience counts highly in any job. Never mind, it sounds as though the Gills needn't bother turning up and their fans can save money and stay at home. I still think the Gills will give Rovers a game.

I'm honestly not sure who that is....

Was trying to think earlier of players who've played for both clubs in the last decade or so and I drew a bit of a blank! Can anyone think of any...? I'm sure there must be a few random loanees!

Adam Barrett too.

Hoping for a good performance tomorrow, think the difference between this level and L2 is you can't really write off an out of form team. Rochdale a prime example of that.

Gills are a strong side and whilst a win would be nice, a point wouldn't be sniffed at either.

We haven't experienced an "easy game" in this division including playing teams who were at the wrong end of the table at the time (walsall & dale) so i don't see any reason to believe that this will be any different and an easy win, especially with the Gills collection of ex-sh*theads who will no doubt love to get a result against us.

The last 10 games between us is less than impressive for the gas:

15 Jan 2000 Bristol Rovers v Gillingham W 2-1 League Division 2
05 Feb 2002 Gillingham v Bristol Rovers L 1-0 FA Cup
27 Oct 2007 Gillingham v Bristol Rovers L 3-2 League One
19 Apr 2008 Bristol Rovers v Gillingham D 1-1 League One
21 Nov 2009 Bristol Rovers v Gillingham W 2-1 League One
20 Feb 2010 Gillingham v Bristol Rovers L 1-0 League One
17 Dec 2011 Gillingham v Bristol Rovers L 4-1 League Two
06 Apr 2012 Bristol Rovers v Gillingham D 2-2 League Two
15 Sep 2012 Gillingham v Bristol Rovers L 4-0 League Two
05 Jan 2013 Bristol Rovers v Gillingham L 0-2 League Two

Current form is seeing both teams concede goals (0-0 alert):
12th consecutive match where Gillingham conceded at least one goal.
11th consecutive match where Bristol Rovers conceded at least one goal.

But Gillingham are on a poor run though so i think we will edge it late on to win 2-1!
UTG!

Gillingham have had a little slump in form lately but any team with the likes of Dack and JET at league 1 are going to be a threat.

We have one glaring, obvious issue at the moment in that we keep letting teams go one nil up. I can see the same happening with a JET thunderbolt before us getting one back early in the second but not quite having enough to get a winner during late pressure.

As for formation, never know with DC but wouldn't be shocked for him to go 3-5-2 to try and crowd out those pockets JET picks up between defence and midfield

Not sure JET will even start after all this talk. Cody probably will, and I'd expect either Nouble up with him or playing him as a lone striker anyway.
