Funny how they produce a poster like this after promising to wipe the deficit out completely.
Plus that claim is iffy at best. In cash terms, the deficit has only been reduced by about a third.

Presumably you weren't on TFF

I retired from both General Chat and the Politics sections after false claims about how it would be moderated.

I am eager to find out the rules for here, I believe these are being prepared presently ;)

I should add I retired from general chat with the sole exception of my 2 hilarious threads about the clocks going forward and back, 9 weeks until the next one :D

Mid Bedfordshire is the constituency that my household comes under (along with around 200 other homes in Luton) - it's a very safe Tory seat. There had been talk that our houses would shift the Luton North constituency which makes far more sense and with Kelvin Hopkins running again this year should remain a Labour seat.

I would vote Green but it's a wasted vote as far as I'm concerned.

Isn't Mid Beds Nadine Dorries seat? If so OUCH, drew the short straw there...

Greens. They're the only bunch committed to keeping the NHS public. Job jobbed.

Don't you see a vote for Green as a wasted vote?

It's a shame people see voting for someone they like and agree with as a wasted vote. It's on of the reasons we will probably never see a Podemos here.

I'll probably vote Green especially as they seem to care about a lot of the same things I do. (Drug Policy, Energy, Wildlife etc)

I'd rather vote for them than Labour or the Liberal Democrats now.

Nothing will change if people don't vote differently.

Which is why electoral reform is so desperately needed. Proportional Representation is the way forward for General Elections.

I suppose with a hung parliament the most likely outcome, a vote for one of the 'lesser' parties might have more of an impact than in previous elections.

As for the Lib Dems, I'm convinced that had they been more patient and set their sights on 2015, they would now be in a really strong position.

For what it's worth my constituency covers Super Funky Hebden Bridgeand Todmorden. While the Greens aren't targeting it their share of the vote will surge in this area I'm sure. My vote alone has never decided a seat and that's honestly as far as I see what is and isn't a "wasted vote" in the pure sense. If my vote contributes to a feeling of "hey, we did well in this constituency, let's target it in the next local election" then that's good progress. I'm not a faithful gunner for party politics however.

Opposing the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre!!!!
How many of those jobs created are zero hours contracts jobs? Both Labour and the Tories have been manipulating the unemployment figures for their own ends for years.

Good point. Interesting to see if their vote picks up before the election. I suspect it will. Reckon all three "big" "little" parties....Greens, UKIP, LibDems will do better than current polls suggest.

I think the Green party in particular could surprise a few people. I'm not saying they'll win the election, but I think they'll do better than they have in previous years. I can see them picking up a few votes from people who don't want to vote Tory but don't have faith in the main opposition. Their only problem is, as I stated earlier in the thread, a vote for Green is [rightly or wrongly] seen by many as a wasted vote. Maybe the prospect of a coalition convinces people that a vote for the 'lesser' parties might still have some bearing on the election.

On a related note, what do people make of the new proposals for the televised debates? Whilst I'm happy they'll be taking place, I'm not really sure how a debate with 7 parties will work.

The Greens have a very real chance of taking Norwich South. They got 15% in the last election and with the Lib Dem vote likely collapsing I think they might just do it.
