Labour have allowed themselves to be made scapegoats, the people will believe anything they hear and not listen to the facts so they won't trust them with the economy.

Completely agree, they've not done enough to counter this false narrative the last 5 years.

Totally depressing, sickening how many votes that horrible vile party has won. The people of this nation are a disgrace. I hope the voters reap the rewards of their selfishness in the years to come.

Now to drown my sorrows.

I think this is a bit strong? I guess I am a disgrace then ^^

I didn't join these forums to start talking politics really but I did vote Tory and I don't mind saying so. I am not a millionaire, I simply feel the continuation of a Conservative government will enable the U.K to continue to recover. While I do agree that an angle of attack has been to suggest Labour was responsible for the crash is not a fair reflection of what actually happened, it does not mean they are the right people to continue ther recovery.

In the last 5 years the Cons have cut the deficit as a proportion of GDP by half, created 2m new private sector jobs, and the UK has become one of the fastest growing economy in Europe with extensive foreign investment from powerful economic nations (including China and the U.S). They are also promising an EU referendum before 2017...something Labour will not do.

They deserve the chance to see out what they have started in my opinion.

At what cost though? Record numbers relying on foodbanks, homelessness on the rise, people paying for having a spare room.

I don't think you're a disgrace I just think you're like many other conservatives a bit short sighted and to focused on a "recovery"

There will be no recovery for many if the Conservatives get back in. I saw someone lose their funding for support after ten years and end up in hospital two years later. All for the sake of saving a few quid on social care. That's the reality of our recovery.

Long term gains.
To be fair it's Labour's major fuck ups we're trying to recover from.

Yah. Nothing like being short sighted huh? Oh wait... Labour and the absolute crisis they left the country in upon shutting the door to #10.

Yeah, funny that. Pot, kettle.

Reality check. CUTS have to happen. They will always anger some people. The irony however, is that the labour voters who fail to understand that are actually the short sighted ones.

Hopefully, if the exit poll is accurate the (almost) majority have understood the above and voted with that premise in mind.

FYI-your relatable story, it's not nice and I'm sure there are many others like it. But ask yourself honestly whether those cuts would have happen if it wasn't for the Labour trainwreck decisions of the past government? Yeah, thought so.

I didn't vote Labour, I have just as little faith in them. It's easy to talk about the mess they left us in but this mess was pretty much worldwide. It's just about the only thing I've seen Torys do.

You won't find any love for them from me though, they are just the same as the Tories but slightly less evil. Depressing that they are the main choices tbf eh?

Please do tell me one positive that the conservatives have done for Homeless people, Disabled people or people with mental health? I'll probably be able to come back at you with just as many negatives.

You say cuts like there's only one type of cut.

It's the way cuts are made, and who they affect, and how disastrous they are to that person's ability to live, which is the problem.

Think you finished your post after I posted. :)

Everyone can agree cuts were needed, but not so indiscriminately, not so quickly and not so one sided.

And yes welcome to british politics. Voting is only a small part of the action we can take and I am quite happy to do other things to oppose government and will continue to do so.

And if they weren't these cuts, and the money was saved elsewhere, the same amount of people, just from a different background/walk of life/strain of issue would kick up just as much.

The alternative is continue spending in an attempt to please everyone, come on, let's be realistic.

Frankly I've been stunned that previous opinion polls had it so close, that people would honestly put Labour back in a position to govern after their last term. That's my opinion, I understand that, fortunately it appears to be the more popular opinion.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

No because it's the poorest suffering.

I could afford to be down £100 a week. I know plenty of families who couldn't.

Ed Balls: "Most ballot boxes haven't even arrived yet. They need to arrive, be counted and then we'll get the result." Cheers Ed, great punditry. Like the Alan Shearer of MPs.

But let's be honest, people from 'different walks of life' (urggh, what a horribly superior term) aren't going to die because of a cut in the top rate of income tax. People will die because of cuts to the NHS.

That's the difference. But I guess you're right, your view is the more popular view. :)

Did you take that out the Thatcher era handbook of responses for Tory opposition?

Yeah, of course it's the same old fucking tories. Rich get richer, poor get poorer. Yep.

Where would you make the cuts? Do you have an opinion on that or are you adopting the standard 'we'll just keep borrowing' line? :dk:

'Different Walks of Life' is in no way a superior, nor ambiguous term by the way. Good effort at being condescending though. C+.

Oh, by the way... unless I'm mistaken........

Labour has been criticised for earmarking only £2.5bn when the NHS itself has said there is a minimum £8bn shortfall. The Tories are promising the full £8bn but not saying how they would pay for it.

Cunning ploy by the Lib Dems losing their deposits as a means of cutting the national deficit.
