Cauley Woodrow touch and go. If he can't play then hopefully Stendel doesn't repeat the tactics against Birmingham. I'd bring Wilks back in and put Schmidt up front from the start or even switch Chaplin out wide and put Wilks up front instead.
We need to be winning these home games if we're to stay up.
Injuries now seem to be getting to us, especially in the full back area, with Cranie out for a little while, Potts "touch and go", Galloway seemingly having picked up a knock somewhere along the line. Probably again have to play Bree at left back with Bolton at right back. Not great - lose your 2 best players from the fullback position then have injury issues with those players brought in to replace them. Pretty much sums up our start to the season really.
Id like to see us play Moncur today. We played quite well midweek but it was all little but sideways and not much penetrative passing going on. Moncur has his faults but he is always a positive player for us and and looks to drive forward and makes things happen. Might be a too much of an attack minded approach for an away game but we could really do with a win.
To be honest, id take us doing fuck all all game and getting a 0-0. At least it would mean we hadnt made a silly mistake and build a bit of confidence into Sluga.
Only the one change from Tuesday where they were pretty hopeless second half v Sheff Wed. Luke Bolton comes in for Martin Cranie at RB. So we're still playing without a RB.
Jones wanted us to be more clinical. Such a threat going forward with all three strikers too hot to handle. Love Kaz and Cornicks contributions. Shinnie spraying it around and Butterfield and Tunnicliffe controlling a very decent Barnsley midfield. Maybe found our right back too as Bolton looks decent and quick
Expecting a different second half. Youll have a lot more of the ball and we'll be on the break. If you can get one youll be right back in it. Believe me we can wobble.
Great result for us, up and running now. Sounded nervy at the end despite having a 2 goal cushion and would have been great to get a clean sheet for Slugas confidence but can’t not be delighted with that.
Much better second half but left ourselves with too much to do and it was too little too late. That’s probably the worst first half of football I’ve ever witnessed Barnsley play.
Highlight of the game was seeing an old school friend that I haven’t seen for over 15 years.
