yeah, I mentioned it after the match in the CL thread. I predicted a hard time for him but I had no clue that this escalated so quickly. I am no Bayern Insider but he opened a lot of sideshows right from the beginning of last season with benching Germany regular Joshua Kimmich and then Thomas Müller (although he's in a crisis) and yesterday his selection confused most experts. In such an important game benching Robben, Ribery and Mats Hummels (and the healthy Boateng not even on the bench) wasn't the wisest decision. There were several more sideshows and you often get the impression he can't be arsed.
Anyway, I can't be arsed what happens with Bayern either. Hopefully they have an "off season" in the Bundesliga...about time.

Have they struck a deal with the club, hence the decision to oust Ancelotti so quickly into the season, or are they moving to someone else? We'll find out in the next few days I'm sure. Yes, it's a big story actually here (bigger than right wing nut jobs in our next parliament and Mummy's weak result). Nagelsmann said 2 weeks ago that he actually builds a house near Munich and really likes Bayern. Honi soit qui mal y pense. Hoffenheim's boss already said that he's actually not available but hey, we all know when Bayern wants him they'll get him. But tbh I think it would be too early for him to go to a club this big.
He should at first prove that he can reach something (actually that would be to prevent the total humiliation of the 6 german clubs in the European competitions at this matchday: So far : 5 matches - 5 losses. First time ever this happened. Dark times
And right now Hoffenheim plays in Bulgaria at Ludogorets (or so). Actually they are up 1-0, let's hope that they reach at least 1 win (this would also be their first ever european win...in their 2nd match ( plus 2 losses in the CL qualifier against Liverpool).

Carlo had it coming really. Bayern weren't good last season but the Buli was very poor last term. Which explains why Leipzig ended 2nd. However, I think the fans were ready to give him time as long as he delivered in the CL. They were knocked out by RM (granted, future winners) and just lost against the nouveaux riches like some rookie club.
Pressure upstairs is immense from Rummenige and Hoeness. You just don't fuck with Bayern that way.

Jury's out that he can't do it in European football, either, atm.
So far 4 matches - 4 losses ( 2 in the CL qualifiers against Liverpool and now 2 losses against the World beaters from Braga, Portugal and Ludogorets, Bulgaria). He looked so lost (aka helpless) in all 4 matches just like Carlo Ancelotti.

Nagelsmann was so naive against Liverpool, I mean you don't play three at the back against our (albeit inconsistent) attack. Seemed an arrogant sod as well, so maybe he would indeed fit in at Bayern after all! I think it would be a risky appointment. Mind you, you have to credit the Germans, they aren't afraid to make bold appointments for their coaches, so this could indeed happen.

"Nord-Derby" time again, HSV vs Werder, the most played match in 55 Bundesliga Seasons (107th of 109 possible). If you look at the table, you'll see that it's already a relegation zone match....again.. #15 (HSV) vs #17(Werder) but this match is so much more to both supporter groups.
HSV with 4 consecutive losses and a dismal 0-10 goals in those 4 matches has to deliver.



edit: "So wird es kommen...." , sadly not. Only a 0-0 came. Werder not existent from minute 15-65 when Junuzovic came. We had some chances but no-one who can deliver. Damn, now it's 5 matches without a goal.

Bayern only 2-2 at Hertha BSC. 2nd time in a row that they couldn't hold a 2-0 (for the first time ever in their history). Ribery again injured, maybe for longer.
And here we have it: Bayern's worst begin of the season for 7 years. Borussia with a 5 points lead after 7 matches. Could this be the year where we see the mighty fallen? Yeah, I know it's early but I have to do it nonetheless:

I imagine they'll make a move back towards that style of football, but they're coming towards a transition with Robben/Ribery on their last legs now really, so they may not hit the heights they did in the Pep era. I think it'll work out if it is TT, personally.

I think a lot of people are too quick to make the easy comparison between Klopp and Tuchel just because they were both successful at Mainz. Tuchel is ok for a non-European side but we saw his limits when BvB had to deal with Europe last season.
Bayern is a big deal and generally, this type of manager (the type that gets lauded in the press à la Klinsmann) doesn't end up having a good time in Bavaria.

I may be wrong though.

Fair enough. Seems like it may all be conjecture anyway as Jupp Heynckes is set to come out of retirement as interim boss. To me, that's a clear signal they're waiting for Nagelsmann - I read the other day he couldn't take over this season but can't remember the reason why.

Reckon he wants to take his time in preparing his first steps as manager. Like I said above, it's a massive job on one's resume (possibly the 3rd biggest job behind the Real and Barca manager jobs) so you can understand him for not rushing into things. This summer is the World Cup where transfer speculation will be the last thing on our minds so he'll be able to focus on his preparation.

My guess is he's already signed a big fat contract starting July 2018.

the 12 years old Youssoufa Moukoko has made his debut for the Germany under-16 national team and scored in both games vs their belgian counterparts.

Moukoko is also leading topscorer in the under 17 Bundesliga with 17 goals in 8 games

First BuLi match starts soon (Stuttgart vs Köln). Tomorrow we have the cracker match between Dortmund and Leipzig. This match last season had caused some trouble and Dortmund was punished by the German FA with the closure of the Yellow Wall for 1 game.
Dortmund 5 points ahead at #1 and Leipzig at #4. Hopefully the morons will stay away this time.
Bayern with Heynckes in his 1st match out of retirement. Let's see how the team reacts. Tbh I fear for Freiburg in this one. But you never know this time with Bayern.

Ah yes, last but not least, the most important match (for me). HSV at Mainz with former HSV Goalkeeper Rene Adler. Let's score some goals against him (although I don't know how this could happen, we haven't scored for 5 matches)

So Bayern started the post-Carlo period and enrolled the manager who last one them the CL. 5-0 vs Freiburg. Not sure if we should read too much into this result as the visitors have been quite poor this season.
The big game was of course Leipzig's win at Dortmund. Always wondered if they would suffer a 2nd season syndrome (add to that the CL games) but that is a huge win for them. They close the gap with Dortmund to just 3 points. Dortmund have a much better goal difference though.
At the bottom, looks like it's going to be another long, hard season for the two giants of the north, Hamburg and Werder. Hamburg lost at Mainz and Bremen conceded a 0-2 at home to Gladbach. Is this the season where one of them goes down? Köln and Freiburg are strong contenders also.

In the Buli Zwei, it was goals galore in Heidenheim who hosted Kiel (long way up, next to Denmark). The final score was 5-3 to the visitors. They are keeping up the pace with Düsseldorf who achieved 25 points from a possible 30 which is a Bayernesque return after 10 games. Can they keep it up until May? Certainly wouldn't mind them in the Buli...
At the other end of the table, two massive clubs occupy the relegation spots: Kaiserslautern and Fürth. Would be sad to see them go...

Bayern "rejuvenated" under Jupp with 8-0 goals in 2 matches. Phew, this will be hard to watch (as usual). Still thinking about it not visiting the Volkspark for this match. Can't bear it anymore to see the "Bazis" celebrate against HSV.

Funny you should bring it up though, I've been watching a few documentaries recently on how the Nazi's (and Soviets) manipulated music for their propaganda during the war and it was interesting stuff.

Nah, Salty. I used only the popular Fawlty Towers quote and changed it a bit to demonstrate that I don't want to think about Bayern on top

On the other side, the word procession is here more a "catholic thing" and the Bavarians are more Catholic shaped than the north who is more protestant. Remember I am living in the country of Martin Luther (btw: in 10 days we are celebrating the 500th anniversary of his famous 95 theses. So it's not about (military) war but a bit of religious "war" (in quotes)

So, the "usual" loss against Bayern: Quelle surprise, what a surprise, was für eine Überraschung!

Bayern's win was deserved, the 1-0 flatters the HSV a bit. But we didn't disappoint, the fighting spirit and even the tactical discipline was good. Until the 39th minute, of course. Then all went shit. Gideon Jung's red card made it nearly impossible to get a result. More than 50 minutes with one man less. Too much for the HSV.
As soon as Jung started his tackling I knew that this won't end up well. He's way too slow for Kingsley Coman and it looked like "slowmo" when he began to tackle. Of course the ball was already out of reach and only the legs of Coman "available". Damn it...
Anyway, shit happens and this 0-1 isn't the end of the season (although we're already deep in the relegation zone again.), we need to get the points against equally shit teams not against the Bayern.

Sport1 used to show your average 3rd tier game every now and then. I don't mind but the Zwei being on free tv added something less corporate to German football. A bit like the wednesday evening game being on zdf instead of cable. It's a shame but we can all understand why. I fear a lot of decent players of the 3rd tier will now go to the 2nd division easier now. Oh well...
