Great result just a couple of weeks too late! Sounds like Page caught Edinburgh out by switching to 3-5-2.

Sounded like we played very well indeed.

Great and completely unexpected win, radio commentators reckoned Grant managed to pick up 2 yellow cards during the game but not a red, his 15th and 16th yellows of the season if correct, meaning that's his season over.

Excellent result at a very difficult place to win. Shame we had that dodgy patch for a few weeks otherwise top 6 may have been on.

On the way back home after a good battling performance by Vale. Thought we were worth the win, first half we were really great, 2nd half the Gills put us under a lot of pressure but held out for the win.⚽⚽⚽⚽

First booking was Occy not Grant been confirmed. Stupid though in injury time ending his season!

Vale played well for about 5 minutes but that's all they had to. We should've had a penalty first half when Deji got absolutely cracked in the face by a Vale defender (he had to go off) but it wasn't given. Grant is a niggly, diving little fuck, which is a shame cause he could be a decent player. Special mention too for Hooper when he came on, who immediately elbowed Ehmer in the face, which of course wasn't given once again.

Very much a case of gifting the two goals as well. First one, Egan slips over, then Nelson expects a shot along the floor but Leitch-Smith hits it pretty high, meaning had Nelson just stood there he would've caught it. Second was a belting ball through and a good finish, but how the fuck we got caught on the break that badly is beyond me.

Crofts was abysmal again, no surprise we went on to look far better when Hess came on. Putting a CB at left back despite having 2 on the bench was an odd one, as was dropping Norris considering he's the only person who's scored for us lately. Dack still isn't fit enough, nor is McDonald.

More or less given up on the season now, genuinely considering not renewing my season ticket for the first time since 1999 which is quite sad.

Well done Vale on the 3 points, we shall meet once again next season.

Grant is a decent player to be fair, can't be many if any better at this level breaking up the play and we've cried out for someone like that since promotion. A better Griffith. Does know when to go down which again we've missed as other teams have done it to us many times.

As for the penalty your local rag seemed to think a pen would have been harsh as Dicko didn't see him but can't comment on something I didn't see other than that to be fair!

We had Walsall down here on Tuesday who had a player in Chambers who was very similar to Grant. Basically man-marked Dack, niggled and kicked away at him then fell over when he got a chance. Pain in the arse to have on the opposing team. Effective though.

Behave joe, Deji got kicked in the face because he stooped down. It wasn't a high boot, the Gill players kept cutting our players down when we hit em on the break.

Look, you won, there's really no need to lie is there? Even one of your own has admitted Grant likes to fall over easily.

You cannot remotely compare Chambers to Grant.

Not only is Grant a dirty bastard, but he's clever at it, and on top of that a tidy footballer. Chambers is not the latter.

Would love him at BP next to Kelly

All I said was that they did similar jobs against us in successive matches. Both man-marked Dack, and both were quick to go to ground. Neither showed much offensively, but that wasn't their job.

To be fair im more shocked that Page has shown tactical nous rather than the same old we've won lets keep the same team and tactics next game attitude.

The 3-5-2 seemed to work well with our wing back scoring and the other setting two up (2 quality balls from Purkiss looking at the highlights).

If we hadn't of imploded when in total control at Chesterfield we'd have been right on Gills coat tails which is the frustrating thing with our season!

I don't really think Chambers is quick to the ground at all. He's got a few niggly fouls in him and can get a opposition crowd to boo him, but I don't really think he is one to go down easy.

That being said I do remember him going down rather easily in the first half on Tuesday.

Chambers has been our player of the season, quite easily. Surprised you don't rate him. His attacking play isn't great, but he's absolutely superb in every other department. We are fortunate to have him. That being said, I've always rated Grant.

Pressure getting to them possibly. They had some players very good at winding the clock down in their 2-0 win at VP in the promotion season. Glad we've finally got that side into our game a bit as everyone else does it.

That did happen though. Your guy was play-acting. Jackson took the ball, your man was nowhere near either Jacko OR the ball yet decided to fling himself into the air in an attempt to get him carded, which he did. He wasn't the only one either.

Also, I've not said anywhere that we deserved anything other than a defeat. A couple of months ago we would've beaten a mid-table team such as yourself, and beaten them well. However, things have changed and we don't look like beating anyone right now. That's the reality of the situation!

We've rarely been "beaten well" this season to be fair to us. We are a half decent striker to partner AJ short of being comfortable top six and you could argue we've get far more depth in strength than Gills. No Inniss, No Andoh and we've coped well (had Enoch not done his cruciate we'd probably be a few points better off) take Dack and Egan out and you've struggled.

We've dropped a lot of points because we just haven't taken chances, luckily yesterday we did.

Happy to see Gills go up, grew a lot of respect and enjoyed our battle in 12/13 for promotion and hopefully we'll do Rochdale for you next weekend.

They battered Enoch that day, mind you only way to stop him! I'd forgotten about that!

Erm....I haven't whinged about you fouling us. I've mentioned that you were quick to go to ground, which is not even close to being the same thing. Pay attention next time!

Not really a rant about consistent fouling though is it? You can't argue that Deji wasn't kicked in the face, cause he was (you can argue if it was a pen or not, I happen to think it was, but I was a long way away from it), and you can't really argue that Hooper didn't put his elbow into the face of Ehmer, seeing as directly afterwards Hooper was rubbing his elbow and Ehmer was rubbing his nose.

1) "Not really a rant about consistent fouling though is it? " I never said it was. I said Gillingham were whinging about us fouling them.

2) You whinged about us fouling

3) You claimed you didn't

4) I proved you did

5) How is this even up for discussion
