Wahey, a local game!

Featuring actual away fans (possibly), a decent home turn out (probably), Phil Brown's mahogany tan/pearly white teeth combo (definitely) and flattened vowels by the bucketload (guaranteed).

Given we've not been playing too well of late, despite scraping results, I feel there is where our luck might just run out, especially given our injury worries/suspensions. I'm going to say 1-1 and consider it a decent point.

Jackson is back for this which is a big bonus. Means Morris can slot straight into Wright's position (assuming the ban doesn't get overturned, which it should) so we're no weaker. Would like to see us start this one with proper wingers, so starts for Dickenson and McGlashan either side of Donnelly, with a supporting midfield 3 of Dack, Morris and Houghton would be good enough for me. Back 4 picks itself really.

Our home form will deteriorate sooner or later, and Southend are no mugs. Tough game, but think I might agree with your 1-1 prediction.

Will be nice to see (and hear) some away fans for a change.
Is Barrett still playing regularly for Southend? If so he will get a good reception.
Hopefully Cody will be back to partner Donnelly up top.
If Cody isn't fit then I still wouldn't play Williamson as I would prefer to see some pace up against Barrett, maybe Dickenson or McGlashan.
We are due a decent performance and I reckon we could get one.
3-1 Gills.

Barrett is out injured so won't be playing.

A loss means changes will be made in midfield Gary Deegan will definitely start and we might even drop the diamond play a flat midfield. I still don't think we know our strongest XI and we haven't found a way to get the best out of Wordsworth. I think he should play at the top of the diamond but that's not happened yet. Last time we lost we reacted well, tougher game this time though. hmmmmmmm I'm gonna go 1-1 but think it's optimistic

What's happening with your forever promised new ground? It's been a while since I've seen it mentioned.

Anyway, would have been nice to see Barrett back so it's a shame he's out. I wouldn't play Williamson either, I'd go with wingers and push Dack further forward. We are due a decent performance but then again we've ridden our luck the last two games to get the victories, so it could go either way.

I'll go with a 0-0

Right now it's back in the mixer and has good outlook, the best it's looked since first plans got approved before financial crash etc.
New plans submitted to the council in December and the club are holding an open day tomorrow where you can go in view the plans and ask questions. We're no longer reliant on Sainsburys buying Roots Hall as the project is being backed by British Land and if you have a look on their website they are no Mickey Mouse firm largest real estate company in the country I believe but.... Seeing is believing

Wright's ban stands. Unbelievable.

I get that the FA needs to back up its refs, but that was just crass incompetence in a big way.

Not surprised at all by the decision.
In order for the authorities to make the ref look an incompetent twat the decision needs to be so bad it is laughable.
This was a poor tackle which most people would agree warranted a yellow card at most.
It, however, did not fall into the 'weapon graded fuck up' category required for it to be overturned, especially at this level.

Congratulations to joethegill and Shrimpurh and of course, me.

1-1 and it sounds like we've jammed yet another point this week. We have to start playing in the first half of games otherwise we're going to come a cropper in the near future.

Wonder when Gills luck will run out. Yes they dominated the second half but that's the way we lined up to protect our lead. We defended fantastically Bentley had 1 save to make the whole second half and the goal a total fluke.

Deserved point albeit achieved rather fortunately. We struggled to deal with the Southend long ball game first half and didn't see much of the ball. Stepped it up second half and pretty much dominated possession without testing Bentley enough. He made a good save 5 minutes from time but had a REALLY weird moment for the equaliser.

In fact he had two saves to make. Made one, didn't bother with the second

Typical Brown team, they did the ugly stuff without the ball very well.
It was a game of few chances, and we got a point with a fluke. If we can't find someone to hold the ball upfront, we must start passing and moving a lot better than we have over the last few weeks.
Felt if we had Pigott playing for us we would have won, as his holdup play and work rate gave Southend a strong foothold in the game.
Ref was poor (but a lot better than the last rookie on Tuesday). He really should have sent off 2 Southend players, but i think he also missed a pen to southend at 1-0.

It was probably a foul in the first half but it was also offside. The ref went to blow for the pen, looked to his linesman who was just raising his flag, and they ended up mutually agreeing just to play on. Good call.

We have gained 5 points from drawing or losing positions in the last 3 games, with late goals, which could be the difference in the end. It would be nice if we could win our games a bit earlier though.
