I think the Uchie elbow was a straight red but the dive was abit harsh as Uchie got up straight away and went for the ball. If he dived he would have stayed down looking at the ref. And if the tackle on Dodds was not a penalty then Dodds should have been booked for diving but he wasn't, so why uchie. Double standards refs have got.

The referee should be ashamed of his performance today, absolutely dreadful.
To be fair, Vale played well with 10 men for the majority of the game but we certainly deserved the 3 points.
Vale didn't threaten us at all and I was surprised we didn't score more with the chances we had.
Both players for Vale and Burton deserved to be sent off

Cant disagree with any of that. Burton clearly lacked confidence and could have been there for the taking but a combination of Uche's stupidity and Page's naiviety meant that we were never getting anything from that game.

I couldn't care less if we look poor as valefan16 says we needed to win and did. It stops the rot. We did the job today and it may give us confidence to play better as we where under par in the first
Both where justified reds in my opinion
Vale looked out of ideas going forward. Some good players but not working for you

We would look out of ideas as all our attack was either injured or sent off.

Seen a picture of the 'elbow' not a yellow clearly and the dive he got straight up so didn't claim a penalty.

We've got to figure out why we are a top six side at home and yet diabolical away (tactics clearly by Page) the league is awful this season and any failure to finish in the top ten would be a huge failure.

The league is awful. And you are one of those teams. Don't come out with this " we are top six team" shit when you are seventeenth. Read what your fellow posters say.
You lost today because you are toothless. We have injuries too but I'm not moaning about it.
Get on, dust yourself down and knuckle down. The table doesn't lie after 46 games

I'm not telling you what to do. You do as you please.
You won't appear on my radar until the reverse fixture as I'm sure we won't on yours

Read my post again... "At home we've been a top six side" at home we've been a polar opposite to away.

We didn't look great yesterday but had more than enough to beat a woeful Vale side, having played both Crewe and Vale in the last week Crewe looked the better side. That should give some ammo to the great Vale Crewe **** off !

We had no attacking players fit yesterday bar Uche and he got sent off so we were handicapped for much of the game.

Doesn't really give any ammo, 7 points better off and at home a different animal. We'd have hammered you had we put in the levels of performance we have against Sheff United or Wigan but unfortunately and for reasons known only to Mr Page he sets up uber negative away from home, although the sending off didn't help as 11 v 11 we probably don't lose that.

Just seen the highlights, how on earth is that a dive for Uches second! He gets caught so loses balance and gets straight up to chase the ball! A dive is a deliberate attempt to con the referee and he hasn't there. Didn't show the stone wall penalty when they broke for the second so only having first viewing and Pages view from the video.

I'm fully aware Vale have attacking players injured and Page's poor tactics. We also were missing our main striker, we played no where near as well as we have been but still won comfortably even if the goals came late. I thought Uche should have got straight for the elbow but he got yellow, the awful ref then gave him a yellow for a dive which probably wasn't. I was far too far away from the Dodd's incident and don't even remember it being significant, however Vale got what they deserved due to the total negative tactics, perhaps Albion are due a bit of credit for nullifying anything Vale had to offer and dominating the 10 men.
Feel for Vale fans, the usual good turnout but absolutely nothing to get excited about, not one shot on target and 4 off target.

The image in the paper shows Uche clearly eyes on the ball and his arm using as leverage. The worry is however he came out and went ballistic at Half Time at the referee and got dragged away so probably going to be missing him for longer.

Burton looked ok defensively but hard to judge as we ended up with Daniel having to chase his own flick on's (should of pushed Dodds into the middle to support), I think Burton had 24 shots and only 5 on target, one of the line so looked as poor as us attacking wise (think you've even managed less goals over the games?) I never really felt Burton were going to score after 60 minutes had passed as you seemed to run out of ideas and the horror tackle for the red seemed to show we'd got you frustrated but in the flip side first half with 10 v 11 we were creating as much and not really noticing Uche's absence so why Page then literally parked the bus on the goal line second half was irritating but this is the man who went defensive at Colchester after they'd let in about 40000 goals in the past 3 or 4 matches!

Its the first time we havent sold out for Burton away and thats purely down to the negative tactics Page is employing (without success) we always conceed late away too, the only time weve gone attacking away was when 1-0 at half time to Fleetwood and we then looked good and scored 2 to win so its clear we are better attacking teams than defending.

I'm going to stick to home games now I think, its a lot of money, I have a 1 year old and another on the way and I can't justify paying to watch that away from home, at Vale Park we've dominated all but one game (against a very impressive Millwall) and generally won convincingly and I think the main annoyance of fans at Vale is that we can do that at home then go ultra negative away.

I can understand where you are coming from, in all honesty we look much less of a threat without Stuart Beavon up front, the German Thiele has not impressed me at all and I would much prefer Joachim given a chance as he has scored goals as an international striker and in the Champions league. I thought the introduction of Zeli Ismail on the right was also a big turning point as he stretched the play and roasted Dickinson every time he got the ball.
Having lived in Hanley, Audley and Silverdale Vale are our main local rivals in my eyes. Vale fans deserve better.

Beware of the Champions League tag! Andreas Lipa *shudder* :ffs:

Alnwick told our support not to give the ball back for a corner in the first half quickly and Theale was begging our fans to give it back like a boy who's just had his ball nicked by the local bully... about the only entertainment we had all afternoon!

The three promoted sides from last year are hovering just above the relegation spots in the Championship so I wouldn't put too much stock into the 'weak league this year' argument. In the twenty or so years I've watched us yo-yo between this league and the one above I've only seen a handful of promoted sides who I felt wouldn't have gone up, or gone close, in a normal year.

Last season Bristol City, MK and PNE were a level above everyone else, having seen Burton and Gillingham who are up there, Sheffield United and Wigan who were favourites there is no one close to that level this season, your lot were the only impressive side I have seen this season the rest bang average with the exception of a very poor Crewe and Doncaster sides - on the day Doncaster far poorer than Crewe. If you compare the players of say Walsall, Gillingham and Burton for example and put them up against the squads MK (Dele Alli, Benik Afobe etc), PNE (G**ner, Gallagher, Beckford) and Bristol City (Wilbraham, JET, Freeman) and the gulf between them three and the current top three is massive. The fact all three are struggling this season is more of a showing of the gulf in class between the Championship and League One now. Wolves and Brentford did well last season but all on massive backing financially.

The three that go up this season will almost certainly be the three that come back down a year later without a massive investment in their squads IMO.

I'd take one season up there though just to say we got there and a club so small can do it.
I don't disagree with what you say though.
I think Wigan will win the league imo

Be a great fairytale BUT on the flip side Yeovil appear to have suffered from doing it.

If Wigan are there or thereabouts at New Year I imagine they will finance themselves over the line.

Horrific, Smurf please man up and load the gun. Good friend of mine travels up from near Bedford, seen him at Fleetwood, Sarfend and recently on Saturday. His tex after the game simply said ' Won,t see you for a bit mate as i refuse to waste my time effort and money watching negative garbage, until Page goes i am not going again ' . Pretty much sums up the feelings of many, and no disrespect to Burton who were way better than us, i will be amazed if stay in top 6. We are only heading one way, saturday v Shrews is huge, but alas we have no forwards , what a shambles.

Yeovil have already beat you to being a tiny club, with little history in the Championship.
