Bit of a surprise, got Fleetwood out of league 2 and made Scunthorpe a side regularly at the top end of league 1, must be offering him an awful lot to drop down to this level as he was linked with on paper much better oppportunities.

Do not worry they will tell you’ll they have a good budget but no where near some of the sides this level.........TV will show the hard work and effort needed to rise above all the spenders of non league

Can't wait for the season to start. It's great for football that the National League is attracting names like that. Over the summer, we'll see players who were getting regular games in L1 coming down here just because of the quality of the league and the vision and ambition of hard working small clubs run on a shoestring.

To think he could've been a Championship management if he wasn't so stubborn and had a plan B.

If he fixes his glaring tactical issues and his obsession with playing players out of position he should do very well.

That's an annoyingly good appointment. They'll be top 7 pretty much definitely I think. Whether they can really challenge for the title remains to be seen.

The Salford team needs massive investment, they are for me much weaker than Fylde were a year previous. Very solid and dependable, but seemed to rely a lot on late goals or just winning to get the points then struggled to cope when pressure hit them.

Solid base, but going to need a lot creativity wise

They might be weaker than Fylde now but if the rumours are true about their targets (three of Macclesfields starters who are out of contract for a start) they won`t be when they start the season. To be honest they are one of the reasons I am happy to be out of this league . And to think 6 years ago they played against one of our local teams Cammell Laird in front of 43 people. I can see Salford being next season`s number one hated team and I can well understand why.

They are already my number one hated team. This kind of evil needs eradicating.

He's got a major rebuilding job on his hands right now as BigDave says.

On paper a decent appointment, but he has no experience of Non League football or the National League so he will need to adapt quickly, I can see the class of Nerdy two sacking him if he doesn't at least push for a playoff place.

They're going to have alot of pulling power in the North West with the money rumoured to be going around.

Hopefully us and our fellow brotherhood teams will put them back WHERE THEY BELONG.

So just like Fylde then, who my mates used to play against in front of no crowd at all when they were Kirkham & Wesham in the West Lancs league.

I think Salford signed 14 players beginning of last season, fucking 14. They’ll invest heavily again. It will be a complete new team again. They don’t add 3 or 4 additions each season. They’ll be well up there, currently whenever we’ve played them though they’re just a bunch of brutes. Bully you out of the game or try to. Never passed it about

Is this all part of their miraculous rise through the leagues?

I realise that the programme wasn’t on this year because they never made the first round but when do the BBC plan to stop it? National League? League 1?

Hope they do an Eastleigh and reach their ceiling, can’t see it happening though.

Did the same to Ramsbotttom when they started their 'journey'. Dont think they ever recovered. How 5 millionaires and a billionaire can play the underdog card and Sky buy it is ridiculous.

I played against them in the north west counties league about 15 years ago!
