Huge straw clutching if ever I saw it, we were the worst team in the league for big chunks of this season and even though we’ve been much better of late we still fully deserve relegation, staggered that we’re trying this.
If this is the new ownership then they've already lost a bit of my trust. It should have been communicated yesterday. They need to step up and explain or dismiss this as soon as possible.

Jason Stockwood already has, I posted it in the Southend thread.

"The legal conversation exploring the 'integrity' of the season has been ongoing with the EFL since the National League made its decision not to relegate clubs several weeks ago.

"As a club we will obviously follow the process to its logical conclusion but ultimately it is a decision for all EFL clubs to decide on collectively."

In the telegraph, no I read it as the EFL are the ones that have been looking at it since the NL decided on no relegation, now it's us and Southend seeing it till it's finish with the EFL meeting next week as we are the ones affected

For reasons that have never been satisfactorily explained to me, WE were waving Harry Haddock inflatables during our cup run in 1988. When I say "cup run" remember this is a relative term. :dk:

There might have been a Pythonesque phone call with Jason Stockwood saying to EFL - "I must insist that we are relegated...no you have to continue with the appeal...we don't want to, we are bringing a new culture of openness and integrity, we must be relegated...sorry can't do it, your staying up until the outcome of the appeal..."

So our ex chairman Day, was behind the proposal according to Hurst. Our new board went along with it whilst he was still on the board during the transition period which was said could be a couple months.

Day resigned last week after only a week or so of transition, now we drop the proposal with agreement from the EFL.

Seems it was a last ditch attempt by the old board to avoid the embarrassment of being relegated to this tinpot league twice. New board have got more sense and time to move on.

SHAYMEN, CHESTER, DARLINGTON, TORQUAY, HEREFORD, LINCOLN, ALDERSHOT, YORK- GRIMSBY now joining the elites of shitness, the truly shit clubs who have been relegated twice from the Football League. THAT takes a special level of shitness that only those clubs absolutely dedicated to being shit can achieve.

Welcome, Brothers. :bdick::db:
Three times now actually; most times kicked out the League and most promoted and relegated club.

So you got the Haddocks then, must have been some mix-up - the thousands of "haddocks" at Wimbledon were in fact inflatable Rainbow Trout. I had a fag-burnt wilting shark.

Am I missing something here?

This is our second time in non league is it not? :dk:

Apparently you were relegated back into the Midlands league in 1910. So technically this is your third time. That was before the league expanded though so a little harsh to count that.

??? I don't think you've grasped the concept under discussion. Being shite is a source of great pride, for the truly shite- YOU ought to know that- so it's not "harsh", it's a blessing. :ds:

We once simultaneously held the Football League records for a home and an away defeat, 8-0 at home to Fulham in 1969 and 13-0 at Stockport in 1934. At Stockport we conceded 11 goals in the second half. That's a goal every 4 minutes over 3 quarters of an hour, such a sublime level of shiteness our goal-keeper felt so confident his legacy would endure, he retired having made just the one appearance. What a career record that is! To this day we are the go-to byword for shit, a rock solid reputation built over the ages by dedicated men like him- Stanley Milton, we salute you, and thank you. :bdick::cool:

Correct and, harsh or not, it has to be counted. B2TF is right - being shite (but importantly not tinpot), is a source of immense local pride. GTFC - shite, taking it on the chin, but not tinpot and not an asian pay-TV backed franchise...

And as most contributors on here will know, it makes moments all the more special. Winning at Anfield with a 35 yarder in the last minute of extra time, and listening to John Peel on the radio straight after. Beating Everton twice including at Goodison in their championship-winning season, again a last-minute goal after they had utterly battered us for 89 mins with defence and keeper playing out their skins. Smashing West Ham 3-0 at Blundell Park, beating Tottenham with a last minute goal. Hammering Manchester City 4-1. We haven't played MUFC for over 70 years but last time we did I think we won...
