Thats pretty good. Its a shame it was in the League Cup, the ugly stepchild of the FA Cup, so no-one else other than Grimsby fans, remembers it.
It was treated with less contempt by the top clubs in those days though - it was a full-strength Everton team. Always night matches as well so the atmosphere is better. Nearly all our home giant killings have been on a Tuesday night - no players really fancy Tuesday night at Blundell Park - (last season that included Grimsby Town) - someone even wrote a book about it Cold, fog hanging round the floodlights, smell of fish meal processing mixed with Woodbine smoke...

Correct and, harsh or not, it has to be counted. B2TF is right - being shite (but importantly not tinpot), is a source of immense local pride. GTFC - shite, taking it on the chin, but not tinpot and not an asian pay-TV backed franchise...

And as most contributors on here will know, it makes moments all the more special. Winning at Anfield with a 35 yarder in the last minute of extra time, and listening to John Peel on the radio straight after. Beating Everton twice including at Goodison in their championship-winning season, again a last-minute goal after they had utterly battered us for 89 mins with defence and keeper playing out their skins. Smashing West Ham 3-0 at Blundell Park, beating Tottenham with a last minute goal. Hammering Manchester City 4-1. We haven't played MUFC for over 70 years but last time we did I think we won...
That's it exactly. The humiliating years and decades make the wins orgasmic highs. Possibly only HAHAHAHartlepool could claim to be infinitesimally more shite than us, yet NO CLUB has a pair of diamonds encrusted in its dung heap history, 2 oases in a vast, boundless desert, that compares to Halifax Town 2, Manchester United 1 and Halifax Town 1 Manchester City 0. I'm getting a contact high just writing about them. :ds:

I think Notts County might be one ahead of you on combined promotions and relegations.
I think we're level, as the list I saw had them on 30 and us on 29 but it was a list just for Football League promotions/relegations so doesn't take into account our promotion back up in 2016.

Can someone explain B2TF to me? Have Halifax ever actually been in the football league? Some of the posts I've read are like a piss soaked tramp lying on the steps outside welcoming you to the hotel.
Your fan club membership application and signed photo are in the post, chuck. :ds:

It’s just dawned on me that this will be our first ever season down here without the FGR ‘Top lads’ for company so in homage to them i would like to make a prediction that our strikers next season will each score 40+ goals with all of our midfielders chipping in with between 25-30 goals each.

Does it need another Group when there appear to be so many different ones popping up covering the same/similar things?

What are the other groups? Not heard of any other ones. Surely if this one has 25 clubs joining up, that's a fairly substantial base to go off?

Can't recall them all but Gary Neville has his group of 5 or 6, the FSA are already one and are doing their bit, a fair few Supporter Trusts are grouped together as well.

Tbh, while G-Nev is making all the right the noises, I'd be worried about him taking the lead on EFL/non-league issues. His interests are mainly at the top level or Salford related. I do get what you're saying though, a unified front would be the best way but there's nothing to say that groups won't form affiliations with one another further down the line. The FSA one is specifically supporters isn't it? So while there will be shared core values, I'm not sure if it's something that clubs can really get involved in. I think the more pertinent thing to consider is how can these different groups all support each other and work together. I don't think there's anything negative about us, Newport, Exeter, Cambridge, AFCW and Luton all teaming up. Especially if these other 20 clubs get involved. Having all these clubs potentially working together is going to have way more sway than supporters groups and the FSA, I'd have thought.

The FSA has been around forever and has nothing to do with calling for change other than been doing it forever and nothing has actually changed.

Neville is just a celeb using his voice and created a government petition which anyone can do, and the government has already said they are having a fan led review so not sure what use the petition actually is.

As far as I can tell this is a new group of clubs/supporters trusts that has been created specifically to call for change to the running of football in England, and make sure the government makes good in their promise of a fan led independent review

Where has Braintree gone?
Either here or the National South. Nobody ever really remembers what league they are in from one season to the next.

Same with Ebbsfleet. Even now I couldn’t tell you for sure if they were in our league this season or not.

What even is an Ebbsfleet or a Braintree?

sounds disgusting.

They're two of the 3.6 million non-league teams in the London and South East area. Strangely enough, they're the only two clubs that don't come from a place that ends in -ing or -stone.
