De Gea
Bellerin Van Dijik Smalling Monreal
Mahrez Fernandinho Özil Payet
Vardy Pelle

I would swap De Gea for Butland due to De Gea not playing the first few games. My only other switch would be Lukaku in for Pele. The obvious criticism is the lone Manchester City player, but with the injuries to Silva/Aguero/Kompany, it's difficult. Differentiating between the best team and the best individuals is a fine line.

What does everyone think?

Decent team that. Butland in goal and Ighalo up top with Vardy would be my only changes.

Mane has to be there ?

Mane has been excellent, and I would put him above Pelle, but he isn't getting in ahead of Mahrez/Payet/Vardy and I think Ighalo or Lukaku just edge it.

The most exciting conclusion from this is the sheer amount of quality options from the (relative) smaller clubs. The influx of television money has led to a more exciting league - hence the signings of Payet, Cabaye, etc.

Butland
Bellerin Smalling Otamendi Monreal
Dier Fernandinho
Mahrez Ozil Payet
Vardy

I haven't seen enough of Van Dijk this season to put him in there so I've gone for Otamendi.

Dier is a good shout - Alli seems to get more attention, but Dier has been better every time I've seen Spurs. Dembele has impressed, too.

What the hell has Vardy done to warrant a spot on the team?

I'd have Alderweireld over Van Dijk. Van Dijk's been a good signing for Southampton but Spurs look much improved this season and I think Alderweireld is a big part of that.
