From our forum: "Leeds Council ordered them to stop their Ground improvements which need to be completed by end of March to comply with Conference regulations. Face relegation if not completed.
Is this Alty's annual AGM reprieve ?"

Anyone know what's going on here? I've heard Mid Sussex are preventing Burgess Hill Town's ground improvements too with the threat of relegation looming for them. It'd be a crying shame if it happened to either; Nethermoor is due a few tweaks and it should all boil down to on-field quality.

Hope it doesnt come down to this for Guiseley. Relegation should always be decided by on football matters. And if Guiseley have the money and are willing to make improvements whys should the Council stop them?

From a purely selfish point of view, why didnt something like this happen last year?! :bang::bang:

Reading the local press it's a Stop Notice concerning the use of a strip.of land by heavy construction vehicles. This is presumably prohibited by the Aboricultural reports and planning conditions relating to the work. Usually this will be an exclusion zone to protect root systems. All Guiseley will need to do is satisfy the Council that they won't do it again (easiest way would be to fence off the area). The Notice can be withdrawn and thwy can carry on.

Not ideal if you are on a tight schedule obviously. And sloppy of the contractors.

Come to think of it, are Guiseley paying their players according to match/direct revenue these days? They have a few money men and have long competed with us for players. Point being that surplus cash should help put your infrastructure in place before you sign the latest Fancy Dan (don't say that too loud though, else Eastleigh's South Stand might tumble over).

Should be sorted by next week and work allowed to progress again according to our chairman.
Iirc one of the local residents objecting to the improvements at planning stage is a councillor. We should never have given them a sniff of anything they could complain about.

Absolutely. Given the amount of objections received during the planning application it would have been even more important to ensure everything is being done exactly by the book as you know people are watching. It's not hard to do but it's surprisingly common!

Messing with the trees is one of the worst things they could have done, short of building it completely differently. No option for the Council other than to do what they did really.

Was at Burgess Hill earlier in the season, really friendly place, quite liked the ground, not sure what's being prevented for them? One side is literally open grass leading into a forest. Would have thought something could be done there without damaging the forest at all and obviously wouldn't interfere with any buildings. Hope things get sorted for Guiseley, got a bit of a soft spot for them.
