New sponsorship announced today for Victoria Park...just wanted to get in an mock the name first :D

(Don't blame Hartlepool for doing it, viable source of income and everyone will still call the stadium it's proper name anyway, so it's win win!)

Good news because I always forget what it's called and call it The Victoria Ground or Victoria Street.

Catchiest stadium name in the ground I say.

Can't wait to get back to The Vi... I mean the Nort.. no, The Vic on Saturday. It's been a long old Summer. It will be typical of Pools to put in a dreadful performance and come away with a 4-0 defeat. But I am confident we can nick a 0-0 draw here.

Nobody ever said Victoria Park ....or Ground for that matter ....its always the 'Vic ' ...some are trying to get N Gap off the ground but not much doing ....on the match ...we have an improved squad , so I expect a higher finish ...I must admit I've not followed the Ins and outs at Colchester so I have no idea if they are fancied or not ....given that I'll be happy with a draw so I'll go 1 - 1

Whose a clever boy then ! ? .....1 - 1 it was in our Brand new stadium , which is an exact replica of the old one , on the same site .....if I'm honest , we hung on a bit , but Colchester looked a decent team , and I think it's a good point

Deverdics only got 10 mins , Magnay you won't be surprised to know was solid and dependable ......Toto ? .......how long have you got ? ...... it sounds daft , but he is a good defender without the ball

If Toto starts how he did for us, he'll be in and out your team a few times and will have a few dodgy moments before he settles. Obviously, he's a better and more complete player than he was when he signed for us now but it took about a season before he really started looking like a top quality Non-League centre back. Wouldn't surprise me if there's a bit of a bedding in period at Hartlepool too.

He was at fault for the lead up to the goal ...he just brushed it off though and got on with it . .. its as if dropping clangers is the norm for him so no point in letting it bother him ! .... I like him though and I can see him becoming very popular

When I heard the score at half time I said Paynter penalty. Low and behold I was right.

The guy earns a living off scoring penalties. But how do pools get so many?

I'm all a bit.. meh.. about that game.

We play 4-3-3 all pre season, then start 4-4-2 first game. Don't understand that. Anywho.. Toto, won everything, but you are on edge whenever he is in a one v one situation. He plays like he has the freedom of the pitch to decide what he is going to do with the ball. Too slow in his decision making for me.

Overall, a solid performance, much better than last year. We can actually create a decent amount of chances, and feel with those 4 players in attack, there is certainly goals to be scored.

Colchester looked a very solid, well organised outfit. Didn't pose much of a threat (barring the mistakes by Toto), but stuck to their game plan and came away with a deserved point.

We've got a very good winger in Nathan Thomas.

Dived for the penalty.

He's quick and can put a ball in the box, never really aims it at anyone just smashes it hard as he can.
Shame he's too inconsistent and mardy to be classed as a very good winger. Would of liked him to stay here if he could face being dropped for having a shit game and working hard on improving. Not sure it will ever happen for him
