No match thread yet?

I've created one as my progression in Last Man Standing is riding on this game.

Hartlepool are doing their usual thing of starting the season strongly even though we all know they'll be in the bottom six by January.

County have begun this season even more hilariously than they ended the last by putting Big Chief Flaps at Corners in goal, so I can't see owt but a Poolies win.

and now having insulted both teams I bid you adieu.

P.S. does anyone know why this fixture is at the top of the BBC's fixture list while the rest are in alphabetical order?

Good of Jon Stead to actually turn up for this season.

Sounds like we've dominated after conceding a stupid goal in the first ten minutes, which is becoming pretty standard.

Well that was surprising! Are we finally pulling this together.

more interested in his defending.

Stead's finally earning his wages I see.

Are we a 442 team now? Because we'll need a winger - Campbell can't have wormed his way into the team surely.

Where did you read that?

The game was more than comfortable for us for 65 minutes, barring a couple of chances Stead created for himself out of nothing. Then we changed formation and you had 10 minutes of pressure, resulting in 2 goals and hitting the woodwork about 4 times. Then the next 20 minutes again we controlled but couldn't do anything with the ball.

If it wasn't for Jon Stead, you would have not been in the game at all, despite the fact we were pretty poor, so he definitely earned his wages. Does he only ever turn up when he plays against us?

Seriously disappointing result for us, could have and should have been 3-0 by the time we crumbled - reminiscent of last season all over again.

Notts were poorer than Colchester who we drew with on first game of the season.

I must've been at a different game to you PoolieTom, we were far from comfortable throughout. We started well and faded from there out, Notts County should of been level in the first half and had the better of the chances, it was plain to see that we were being overrun in the midfield and that continued into the second half, Woods and Featherstone have to be the worst midfield pairing we could put together, they are so negative it's unreal, Campbell that little shitehouse Geordie ran rings around them. As for the winner, they let a centre half tootle through unchallenged from his own box to play in Stead who finished really well.

Hignett needs to take the flak for that defeat, he likes to talk about players poor game management well I'm afraid he needs to look at his own game managment after that.

Just listening on the radio - first half sounded really even and the goal seemed to be coming for about twenty minutes before it eventually did.

The betting sites had us with more possession and shots pretty much the whole way through en all, but that shit can be quite misleading.

Comfortable in terms of Notts never looks threatening on goal (other than Stead creating chances for himself). It was a poor game between two poor sides, with Stead being the difference maker. I thought we created plenty more chances than them first half, the only one of note I can remember was Carson saving a Stead shot onto the crossbar.

Woods looked crocked just after half time, engine had gone, but strangely lasted 90 minutes. Would like to see Laurent given his role alongside Feath next game.

I'd prefer us to go back to a 5 man midfield with Deverdics back in there with Laurent or Hawkins and of course the undroppable Featherstone and Alessandra/Thomas either side, Billy up front and Amond benched.

Typical Pools really, give ourselves a reasonable start and lose the first game we expect to win, going to be one of those seasons I reckon.

Notts first goal was bad enough, but the 2nd,good god.
Overweight lumbering centre half allowed to run with the ball, while Featherstone runs along side as usual, without a hint of even trying to stop him.
How this bloke plays every week,is beyond me.
