Kevin Phillips up top with John Aldridge, for me. Probably bag about 85 goals a season those two together.

Aldridge scored 100 more in his career than Jardel who only played for Bolton 7 times. Therefore I'm afraid Aldridge is in, unless you can come up with better than Anelka, Jardel or Lofthouse.
Nope.............his meagre total of 50 goals in the top flight puts him down as a journeyman
Therefore behind at least 10 Bolton Forwards

By your logic of Hierro, we can also have Bobby Charlton & Nobby Stiles. Unfortunately we're not eligible for this game though, I'm just a spectator.

Stanley Matthews for the Lashers.
Yes as a club batting at least where you should be you are void
This is for us Tinpot clubs only

Wait...Aldridge is a journeyman compared to Anelka and Jardel?! You do know he played in the top flight for Oxford before Liverpool and then in La Liga for Sociedad afterwards too, right? Aldridge is in mate as you haven't provided a better Bolton alternative.

I’m fairly sure he has

‘Just talk to me about sportsball’ (TM)

The occasional wum can be funny, quickly come unstuck when they have to trawl through stats and historical facts though.

Aldridge did not play top flight football until he was 27
He played roughly 200 games out of 673 in the top leagues of England/Spain

Very good player with a exceptional goal scoring record but if its just goals per game...........Bolton can claim joe Smith who scored just 6 goals less than Aldridge but played 100 games less

Ian Wright didn't play top flight football until that age either and he'd also get in this imaginary Bolton team. Joe Smith was of a time that simply doesn't count, I'm afraid. Way too long ago. If we're going that far back, I could probably reel off a load of old Grimsby players nobody has ever seen that would get in. Again, Aldridge is in until you provide a better Bolton alternative. Also, when are you gonna post the full Bolton team so that we can replace and confirm which sides are bigger? Oxford and Tranmere confirmed as bigger so far.

I think Ardiles was accepted in, but not Hoddle weirdly. So I think we are bigger also.

Exactly this... you can’t. Gary speed was phenomenal for us but was 35 plus. Not at his absolute best. Hierro was again fantastic for us but he wasn’t the Real Madrid Hierro. If it’s the biggest names to have ever played for your club... that’s a different argument to your best XI for me.
Dixie Dean. Started his career at Tranmere Rovers. Indisputably one of the top strikers in history.

Jamie Vardy did not play top flight football until he was 27. What does age have to do with anything.

Yeah, players generally leave to better themselves.

Bolton must be bigger than Chelsea after Gudjohnsen moved there.

Josh Mcguiness and Dorian Dervite

Can't believe a team that have played in the 4th tier think they're bigger than us.

Have you anything going for you.....Even the writers of fools and horses acknowledge that Bolton are the bigger club by naming Rodney Charlton Trotter
Trotter being the main name and Charlton the name nobody has heard of lol

Hoddle was one of the best footballers we’ve ever had in this country, would walk into any team let alone a Bolton team.

KTF
Astoundingly good. My dad says he's the best player he's ever seen in a Swindon shirt and this was when he was 34-36 years old. Eventually playing as a sweeper pinging 40-60 yard passes onto players feet.

Can't remember who it was, could have been an old Swindon player from the 90s or something but anyway someone who had played under Hoddle was on a podcast talking about his training sessions. He used to join in and just take the absolute piss. He'd also lay into people a bit and be like "what you need to do is this..." before pinging a ball 75 yards onto a bottle cap or something and the players would just look around confused and say "...errrm, sorry but...we can't do that?"

John Moncur? He's usually a popular character on podcasts.

For some reason I had John Moncur in my head, but I was thinking...why on Earth would I have listened to a John Moncur podcast? Not sure if that's a compliment on Quickly Kevin's part, or a mark of the depths of football nerdiness.

He may not have been the best player overall but Hoddle is the best passer of a football I have seen in an England shirt
Quality player that England should have built the team around.
I cannot disagree brilliant player, but Okotcha just shades him because time and time again in big,big games he stepped up and at times did things i have seen no player do

No chance, Hoddle won a UEFA Cup & two FA Cups with Spurs, then went to Monaco and won the league title.

He was one of the best in Europe in his prime.

I’m not saying I agree with either side. I didn’t see Hoddle live (a lot of my older family said he was a fantastic player) so I can’t comment on him properly. On Okocha... Ronaldinho said that Okocha made him the player he was whilst at PSG, and that Okocha was one of the best he ever played with. He was named in Peles list for the 125 best footballers still living (not that...that counts for anything). For 2-3 seasons we saw the very best of him, he got us to a league cup final with 2 ridiculous free kicks and he kept us up with a an outrageous solo run against West Ham(I think). He also got us into Europe, and we finished 6th in the prem.

But you also forget he was stripped of the captaincy over a move to Qatar. He was incredibly inconsistent towards the end because he wanted a final payday. On his day he was an absolute joke with a football. I remember him rainbow flicking the ball over Martin Keown at home to Arsenal when we cost Arsenal the title.

And after all that I have still have no idea if Hoddle was better or not. Both incredible gifted footballers.

The great thing about football is that it is all about opinions.
I agree though that Okotcha was one of those players that would have people shuffling forward in their seats when he had the ball.
Hoddle shades it for me but two wonderful players.
