Believe We're budgeting for 650 with 250 season tickets sold, whether this will be reviewed, I don't know, Due to the over budgeting by Keyte, they were very cautious with the budget.
It'll be a interesting ride back, I can't see us having the amazing rise through the leagues you did, If we get back to the National league, in 6 or 7 seasons, i'll be happy, by that time you'll be a FL club again!

Even budgeting for 650 you should have significantly more money than the teams around you. The key is getting a manager that understands the leagues and the players you get at that level.

Chester and ourselves were very lucky in that instance. You're also lucky in that you've got Chester's experiences to learn from - they did a lot of a excellent things to come through the leagues but some things they did have harmed them since they've been back. Spaffing a fortune on Lee Trundle when they'd already pretty much won the league comes to mind.

What a ridiculous statement, you've just recognised the name Trundle and assumed he cost thousands. He played about 3 games. Hardly broke the bank.

It was recognised by your own fans as a complete waste of money at the time.

To claim he was on peanuts is naive and it doesn't matter how much he was on really... it was a complete waste regardless!

I think Chester fans will defend everything they do including charging stupid money to see them even though they are a fan owned club, odd folk.

I presume Modernist is the same bloke who had the weird and bizarre obsession about us on the old forum.

Trundle was a daft signing, but he was hardly here for very long.

'Stupid money'... or about average for this league.

And I'll think you'll find many disagree with the prices.

Do your fans not get to vote on this?

Certainly seems like the fans favourite, and rightly so, but good to see the board didn't just choose him and did bother to go through the proper process.

A word on the budgets - you'll have more than enough on that budget to blow everyone else out of the league assuming you come in at either step 5 or step 6 as expected. You'll be getting around 5x the crowds of your highest competitor, step 5 clubs normally charge about £6, at least in this area, so you'll be massively up on that side too. OK you'll probably have higher oveheads, and of course tax will be an issue, while other teams won't meet the threshold, but you should be able to run on a large profit in your first year at those estimates I expect. I'm sure you'll run in to some privately backed rich side, as we all seem to, who will make life a little harder, but you should be able to blow them away anyway, so hopefully they will decide to save their money for a year.

I think you'll enjoy all these small towns and villages that have Step 5 teams. They'll love you too because you'll give them a massive pay day.

You will in parts, but expect a lot of ire in your direction for "buying the league" and the odd superfan getting upset about not being able to park in their usual place because their ground's swamped with big time Charlies.

Looks like Hereford FC have a friendly organised with Hitchin Town on the 25th of April. Pay what you want to get in and the referee is Graham Poll!
its the Supporters trust fans team, not the actual club itself. Was put in place as a replacement for their final game which was against Us, before being wound up.

You still get that now in the unsegregated games here, a Welling fan kicked off at a few of us for sitting in his usual seat this season! :bg:

FC United were the only ones I can remember that accused us of 'buying the league', all because we dared to sign Jerome Wright from them, turned out to be distinctly average in the end as well so we let them have him back at the end of the season.

A good few years back a few Barrow fans had a go at us for "standing in their spot".

We were informed by the stewards that they did not in fact stand there frequently. Great stewards - managed to prevent trouble from a group seemingly intent on it, all without chucking anyone out or threatening to. Some very odd fans there though!

Indeed, and the best part of this one - they will all claim to know your budget, and tell you that you can't afford it. At least that has been our experience, nevermind the fact that there isn't anyone there to plug shortfalls.

Oh and half of them will claim to run on "no budget" which actually means players are only being paid "expenses". But they aren't getting a fee so it's no budget... despite the fact the club is giving them money...

Some brilliant non-league characters (Oddballs) that you'll come across on your rise back up through the leagues.

My favourite was a game we played away at Mickleover Sports. The PA guy was well into his 80's and started off the pre-match build up by shouting "Hello?" "Hello? Can you here me?" "Hello?" Then broke into song "Hello my darling, hello my baby" :bg:

After two and a half seasons of being told both to pay our debts and that we'd let our club die, it was clear we were the best team in the NLP Premier and a few of them concluded that we had to be bankrolled and had bought the league, when an honest team like Marine could've had a chance if it weren't for our filthy cheats. Because 1,500 crowds versus 250 crowds had no bearing on the money coming in. FC United fans were truly insufferable at the time too. They had a problem with us singing "I am a Shayman fan", because chants are obviously intellectual property, and I think they took the red mist from there. They didn't half enjoy some B2TF-style willy waving.

I do wish we could go down to regional grounds a few times a season still and enjoy our friendlies at smaller clubs, but some of their complaints were a laugh. Fylde fans were covering their ears when we were singing there. Garforth fans got the hump because we went off home after the game rather than stay in the clubhouse. The man at the gates at Clitheroe grumbled "not another" when we arrived. As did the man at Hinckley.

More enjoyable though tbh were the "gangs" of pubescents who turned up for the occasion. Some delightful 'ardnuts at Nantwich, Stocksbridge, Burscough and Skelmersdale.

FC United are a weird bunch, they do a lot of fantastic work in their own back yard which is widely noticed and applauded but if you face them competitively you’re likely to quickly change your mind about them, I have to admit I lost a lot of respect for them at that point with us. They accused us of buying the league for signing a player from them and promised a mass boycott of the league game at our place because they weren’t allocated a standing area, and then rather embarrassingly only half-heartedly went through with it. Funny how they didn’t kick up a fuss at Rochdale in the cup a year earlier.

In general though if you approach it in the right way you should be ok, we got on well with most, Curzon Ashton’s chairman had a bit of a rant about us but other than them all was good. I enjoyed the trip back up.

If Halifax Town had a tenth of the engagement, initiatives, charity and marketing of FCUM then I'd trumpet it endlessly. They're an incredible cooperative. But their fans struggled with people skills big time when we were in their league.

I never saw friction before they agreed to the kickoff change for the Rochdale cup match as they wanted the money for their stadium fund. They didn't like those motives being questioned even though they had effectively breached their own manifesto. Town fans, none of whom were trolling, were banned within minutes of first posting on their board, not before being subject to nasty abuse, verging on doxxing. Then they of course didn't like others "using their chants" which is a strange take on their common ownership ethos. I attended their game at Park Avenue that season accompanied by one fan who used terribly racist language—not like that's anywhere near unique in football but it was a surprise to hear it from one of theirs. I believe some boycotted the NYD game at ours because the police made it an early kick-off but they still brought 600–700 (in a seater stand fyi). There was also an accusatory tone from a lot of them that we'd chosen to have zero fan ownership, we all endorsed it and therefore deserve whatever might come to us. They seem to have clashed with every side they've faced with a substantial fanbase as they've had real friction with Chorley too, and fell out with Colwyn Bay. In short, getting six points off them was fabulous.

Worth noting that only applies to some of them, though. Those were the loudest fans at the time, but it's all a bit bipolar. I've known many FC ESPN fans who are spot on and some of the best fans you could know. And the proof is in what they've achieved in spite of the loudmouths. Who can deny that?

Anyway, yeah. Whew. Back to Hereford?

This does seem to be a regional thing. If we had to reform and play at Southern Midlands League/Combined Counties League level I don't thing we would get this sort of gyp from Leverstock Green and Camberley Town fans because hardly any of the locals in London and the South East care about their local small non-league teams.
