Hi.

This may be a controversial thread.

I'm a 2 club wanker as most of you know, and its not something I'm happy with. I started following football a few years back and I began supporting Napoli before going to my family club.

How can I break away from one of my clubs without controversy? I see football as having 1 club to support, and having favourites in other leagues. I love my clubs, but I feel I am missing on how its like to be a true football fan.

Can anyone help me out? What can I do? I will continue following either club but I can't always support them both. Its too difficult especially with my messed up match schedule.

Do you go to the games of either team? I have no idea where you live so I am not sure.

This might sound weird but you can't just choose your team at the drop of a hat. you get your team and you stick with it. I know that sounds cringey and quite stupid, but most proper fans (not saying you're not a proper fan) don't pick their team, it just happens.

So basically, what I'm saying is, fuck what other people think and follow your heart my friend.

No, I can't go to games of either due to me living in Canada.

And yeah, I know it just happens but that's why I have a lot of regrets in football. I'm learning more and more what is the proper way to be a real football fan. Regardless, I won't be able to visit games but there has to be other ways to feel connected to the clubs.

What about supporting your local team, if there is one?

You don't choose your team, Your team chooses you IMO. When I first went to watch Mansfield that was it for me, There was something about it and I wanted more. 15 years later I hate it but I'm in it till the end now!

Support loads of sides. Trust me, I've done the whole support just one side thang for a few years. It's crap.

And go to Vancouver/Montreal/Toronto games. Or, y'know, move.

I rather not support my local side because I plan on moving back to Peru in a few years, however if people don't constantly abuse me for supporting multiple clubs, then I may well follow them.

I currently support my family club and will continue supporting them. (Universitario) Napoli was a team that came to me.

Gonna end this thread before it gets out of hand. I just feel artificial. As a massive football fan I think I should feel more emotion towards the sport. The past few months I've just been watching and adding to my knowledge. Time for a change.

Cheers for the help guys. Thread should be locked now.

I don't see what the problem is really. I supported 1860 during my 2 years in Munich going to home (crap) and away (brill) games, buying the merchandise (kit, hat, scarf, the works) and enjoying the ride. I've asked this question many times on this board and wasn't taken seriously due to my history of swapping and changing sides but what's wrong with supporting your local team when/if you move for work? I admire people who can actually bare sitting in front of a dodgy stream instead of going to a new ground, experiencing some new things and meeting new people. But I'll never do that. I'd much rather move than be sitting at home especially when I don't know if I'll be able to watch the stream properly (internet may be down, all streams may be shit, fuck friend may pop up and say hi etc).

I don't get what the big deal is, just support the team you like and feel a connection towards, if that's not your local team then so be it.
Leeds aren't my local team but they're the team I grew up supporting
I don't bother following any of the teams where i currently live atm because they just don't appeal to me (mostly because they have a lot of fans that are first class idiots)
