Following on from the shocking 3-0 defeat to West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United. Huddersfield Town will be looking to immediately bounce back with victory at home to Ian Holloway’s Millwall.

Millwall have had somewhat a varied start in the league and after drawing their last game at league leaders Nottingham Forest, they will be looking to push on and test Huddersfield to their limits in search of three points. Chris Powell on the other hand must feel that the time to gain three points is now, before teams above them begin to move away to the upper echelons of the championship.

Since his arrival the squad are yet to win a game, but have managed to gain a point against a well organised Wigan Athletic side. Furthermore they were unfortunate to have lost to Middlesbrough the previous week to an injury time penalty, following a disciplined display to level the game after an incredible early free kick from Grant Leadbitter.

Town will welcome back into the fold Anthony Gerrard and Martin Paterson respectively. This is a timely boost to the squad as central defensive errors and a lack of a potent threat up front in the previous game at Elland Road are what cost the team any chance of gaining points against their arch rivals.

The manager has stated that everyone will be given the chance to prove that they are worthy of a starting place in the squad. This allows for the likes of Paterson to come in and prove a point, after being left in the cold by previous boss Mark Robins following a training ground incident between himself and Adam Clayton, the latter now of Middlesbrough.

Huddersfield’s need for a goal scorer is evident; Nakhi Wells has looked out of sorts at times this season. People are suggesting of a lack of confidence in front of goal costing him dearly when the chances do arrive at his young feet. However the Bermudan should take hope from the previous fixture as it was he who scored at the death last time Town met the Lions on the 11th January, to give the blue and white army the three points.

A shining light of late has been young striker Harry Bunn, having been promoted from the academy team; excellent displays away to Reading and Watford have seen him stake his claim to partner Wells up front in the town attack. Unfortunate not to score against Leeds last weekend, it is most likely his goal threat will be again used to attempt to penetrate the Millwall defence and David Forde’s goal. Potentially a few goals from the academy product may tempt Town into not looking at investing in another striker. Ex Chelsea youngster Marko Mitrovic, currently a free agent after leaving Serie B side Brescia during the summer has been linked.

Millwall may seek to take advantage of what at times has been a shaky Huddersfield defence. Alex Smithies has only one clean sheet to his name so far this season and so they may look to take advantage of that.
