and change one event from happening what would it be and why?

mine would be disabling the telephones at Leeds Utd , preventing Howard Wilkinson from making a huge mistake in selling Cantona

which inturn would have sacked Alex Ferguson and maybe made Leeds a far better 90's club instead of Man utd

Probably back to the start in 1905 and stop the bastards founding the club so I could support someone else!

We had a really great side just before the Second World War, amongst plenty of other reasons, I would prevent that war from happening, who knows where we may be now if we had won a title or two back then. Still shit probably.

Either that or when Richard Murray and co ran out of money and had to sell back in 2011, I wish I could have stepped in and helped out.

Told the club to accept our invitation to the Intertoto cup in 2007.. We declined it as we thought a campaign in Europe starting in July would tire us and maybe lead to relegation. We didn't take Europe and got relegated anyway.

Probably the closest we're ever going to get.

That's if they'd believe a comment from a person claiming to be from the future..

Smith (must score), cup final '83 - "change" from him not scoring. Didn't have to think hard about that.

Guess the other would be Belotti, Archer and co. overseeing the sale of the Goldstone and near extinction of the club in '97. A truly sorry and dispicable chapter in the history of the club but I can't say we'd be in a better state now if we were still there.

Stop us signing Ravanelli in 2001. Got relegeated with 50k a week wages to pay, and the club very nearly went under because of it.

Stuart Lovell's missed penalty in the 1995 playoff final against Bolton. Had he scored we would have gone 3-0 up. Instead we went from 2-0 up to losing 4-3 after extra time.

Where do I start?

- The year 1982 was a very dark time for City

- Dean fucking Windass

- Selling Andy Cole to Newcastle

- THREE successive relegations from Division one to Division four in the early 80s. I think only us and Wolves have ever done that.

Tough one. Potentially there are countless early 90's decisions that could have seen us with better managers or not wasting millions on dreadful players.

Recent times it would be.

A) Sack McCarthy a month earlier - It was clear we were going down and that the time was in freefall before that 5-1 defeat to West Brom, this meant a drawn out search due to AK backing out on us at the final second and no manager being appointed and no new players coming in. That could have seen us with a chance of having stayed in the Prem.

Well Andy Gray's goal in the 1984 FA Cup final being chalked off (it would be these days!) which killed the game for Everton at 2-0.

Maybe we might have got back into it had it still been 1-0?

In more modern times appointing Vialli /allowing millions to be wasted on high under performers. - set the club back years and almost lead to administration.

Easy. Make sure the signing of Jon Worsnop from FC United got through to the conference properly which would mean we wouldnt face a 3 point deduction and would have stayed 2nd in the Conference Premier and continued our promotion push.

Instead now the chairman has chucked his toys out of his pram and we are heading for oblivion.

When we were last in the Championship, the season 2002/03 we were doing ok (finished 15th after going on a bad run having been 6th in March).

We were horrible to play against. Big, talented, direct, hard and with an enviable team spirit. The Stoke (under Pulis) of our time, if you will.

The season after we were relegated, having recruited the likes of Robbie Stockdale, Paulo Vernazza, Scott Minto etc who were supposdely 'better quality' players. That relegation, coupled with the loss of the lucrative ITV digital revenue, sent us spiralling into further administration, a cumulative points deductions over the years of 37 points (not including our 3 last term for the ineligible player) and a move out of our beloved Milllmoor to the shudderingly grim Don Valley Stadium.

We've recovered now but boy was it close. Had we managed the transition from plucky thugs to pretty Championship outfit gradually rather than big bang, then we may have not been relegated. It was an easier division back then with the likes of Grimsby, Walsall, Stockport etc and less money flying around.

Pretty easy for us, 50's with Finney, Wayman, Doherty, Thompson and co.

1954, the season we stormed to the 3rd division championship with 17000 average gates and were cheated out of the FA Cup final by a referee disallowing a perfectly good goal and giving 1st division WBA a penalty for a foul made three yards outside the box according to literally everyone else, and photographs and match video.

I'd go back, kill the fucker the night before and go on to watch us smash Preston in the final, having already made short work of current holders Stanley Matthews' Blackpool in an earlier round.

Completely failed to read the original post.

Mine would be 2005, play-off final against West Ham and i'd buy Claude Davis some boots with fucking studs in them.

I would go back to the play off final and stand on Stephen Pearson´s laces, so he couldn´t have scored the winning goal vs West Brom. The butterfly effect would then mean, no 11 pts, no worst team in premiership history, no Paul Jewell, no Robbie Savage.

Tough question!

Possibly stopping Trevor Francis deciding he needed to see Cantona play on grass, I think his addition won Leeds the title whilst we finished 3rd!

Or the 1993 FA Cup final replay, imagine Mark Bright not missing an open net, Arsenal went their way after that we went ours, down a slippy slope.

Agree on Windass, look at the difference between us and Hull since 08, how different things could have been. As for Cole, people with talent will always leave, just the smaller clubs have to get value from the sale.

I can think of three events in our club's history that I would have liked to have changed, which would have changed our subsequent fortunes.

1. In 1992, to get Stan Flashman to hand over control of the club to someone saner and with a proper idea to run the club. That way, we would have still been promoted from Division 3 in 92/93 but we would have kept our very talented squad instead of losing them all on free transfers and the club would not have been subjected to a vote to be expelled from the Football League. Who knows where we might have reached with that squad?
2. Come Easter 98, we were in the promotion spots in Division 3 and 1-0 up against Leyton Orient with half an hour to go. We lost 2-1, lost all but one of our remaining half dozen or so matches and limped into the play-offs in 7th place. Had we held on against Leyton Orient, I'm pretty sure our subsequent results would have been better and we would have won automatic promotion.
3. in 12/13, if we had managed to get the result we needed at Northampton to avoid relegation, we would have started our first season at the Hive in League 2 with Davids in charge and he would have been more motivated to implement our project and become a Crewe Alexandra of the south. Now, we're back in League 2 but with a manager who doesn't seek to integrate the youth team players into the first team and who makes the first team play a style of football that rips up everything that our youth team players learn.

Should've sold Marlon King for £5 million in 2003, even if it was only about 1.5 up front with a shitload of clauses. Instead we kept him as we wanted a bigger lump sum, 6 months later he goes in the nick for the first time and we eventually get 950k for him. That cash could've kept us battling in the Championship a little longer!

1) Stopped us selling Shearer.
2) Stuck a massive cork in that Icelandic volcano so we'd have signed Lewandowski in 2010.
