Best - Any of the last 3 O'Neill seasons.
Worst - Take a guess...

Worst, relegation to League 2

Best, last year. Felt like a dream, played amazing football (arguably the best in the 2nd tier) took on huge clubs and almost fulfilled the dream. Don't think it will be matched for a long time

Probably the promotion last season or 99 winning at Wembley.

Worse - going down to what is League One on the final day in 96.

Best - The season we got promoted to the Premier League.

Worst - The season we got relegated to League One and went into administration.

Best: 2004/05. Obviously the league campaign was a bit shit but it's impossible to go for any other season.

Worst: Probably 2009/10 actually. We've had quite a few similar, even worse seasons, but that's when we fell from grace. It was absolutely horrible from day one.

The Moyes season,to go from Ferguson to that cretin whilst hitting a new low every other week was just awful.

This season has been bad and Van Gaal has to go in all honesty but listening to that utter bufoon tell us every week how he was the man we needed pointing the finger of blame at anyone but himself whilst we hit unprecedented lows whilst his mates in the media kept telling us what a good honest hardworking man he was who just needed more time.

I feel sick jsut thinking about it, no matter how low we go it wont be worse than under Moyes.

Best - 2006-07. Mick McCarthy inherited a depleted squad, expectations were low and through bargains, free agents and endeavour in spades, we made the playoffs. Jay Bothroyd scored some gems, Matt Murray was at his fricking best, and along the way, we beat the Albion! That's why in spite of whatever unpopular thing he's ever done, I still call him Super Mick.

Worst - 2011/12 - Just bad off the field as well as on. New signings disrupted the spirit of the dressing room, when Mick was sacked and Curbishley turned us down, Morgan had no Plan B to Z and stuck Clipboard Connor in charge. Demoralizing is an understatement.

Both the same; 08-09 was the most dire, turgid and depressing football for over half of it. Starting on-17 was bad enough but we were pretty much the worst team in the league anyway. A combination of Kevin Bond and then Jimmy Quinn managed to get us to 0 for Christmas, before we lost to the worst professional football team I have ever seen (Barnet) through our own ineptitude.

However, once Eddie Howe was appointed it became the best season; we hit promotion form and somehow survived with our last home game. The winner v Grimsby was a special moment and remains the biggest goal in our history (relegation would have led to liquidation, no doubt).

We've had 3 promotions since then, and last year was superb, with ludicrous football, winning a title and just shy of 100 goals scored; but nothing will ever top that finale in 2009.

I'd have thought relegation to L1 would have rankled a little more than the PL season!

The good thing about going down to League 1 is that it enabled us to start afresh with a blank canvas. Big earners were kept away from the first team. Had we stopped up that season, we would've been stuck with Saunders

Best would be the 08-09 season, always felt we would go up all season with the lethal partnership of Ebanks-Blake and Iwelumo, with Kightly in his prime as well. Beating Forest 5-1 at home was probably the best performance I've ever seem. Worst is the relegation to league 1, I remember Dean Saunders playing 10 behind the ball at home to Cardiff like they were Barcelona. Embarrassing.

Certainly one of the most passionate and emotional seasons ever. The fanbase was down to the bare bones, the hardcore. Backs were against the wall and the club's very survival was at stake as relegation = liquidation. At the club's lowest ebb in it's history sat 91st in the league, this long term ex player becomes manager and he brings back this aging legend of a war horse centre forward to spearhead the otherwise mostly ragtag bunch of about 14 players. Somehow it all clicked, the club galvanised after years of fighting itself, and we became largely unstoppable in that second half of the season, and indeed continued for 6 mostly brilliant years since.

More latterly with the added help of some Russian millionaires! #fairytale

Best 05-06. Not the best league position-wise compared to a few years under Redknapp, but we had a young, ascending largely English team playing good football and within a whisker of an FA Cup win.

Worst 10-11. Avram Grant was dire, the football was dire, Gold and Sullivan pissing about and not getting rid of him when they had the chance leading to relegation.
