We could have 5x full international players
representatives from Luton...
Not a bad contribution all things considered...
Anyone’s teams do better??

There are 11 called up - key players like Sema (Sweden) and Sarr (Senegal) but the latter does have an injury.

Craig Cathcart gets his usual selection for Northern Ireland whilst Ben Wilmott is in the England under 21s squad.

Daniel Bachmann has received the call from Austria.

The most surprising is Andre Gray being called up by Jamaica for the first time !

See Andre scored yesterday. The goal he scored was vintage him as well, that’s the type of chance he wants.

Jamaica might have a decent team soon, going after a lot of British players who haven’t been capped. Apparently looking at getting Toney, Holgate at Everton, along with a few others like Max Aaron’s. Shows the depth of talent coming through in England if other countries are sniffing around the players who aren’t quite making full squads.

Yes it was a very good.

Maybe wanted to make a point as he was left on the bench and Success started instead.

Let's see, we've got a lot:

Cuba: Onel Hernandez (now that they've finally stopped their policy of only playing domestic players in the national team)
Denmark Under 21s: Jacob Sorensen
England Under 21s: Max Aarons and Ollie Skipp
Finland: Teemu Pukki
Greece: Dimitris Giannoulis (I'm assuming his concussion picked up at the weekend won't force him to withdraw)
Netherlands: Tim Krul
Poland: Przemyslaw Placheta
Scotland: Grant Hanley and Kenny McLean
USA Under 23s: Sebastian Soto

Think it's somewhat stupid to be having these international fixtures in the current climate, especially with cases on the rise across Europe again.

Quite agree - can see a few top players potentially having to miss league games which won’t go down well.

Probably why Southgate wanted footballers to get the vaccine which was never going to happen.

I loved that pairing. So quick and lethal. Luton football at its finest for me was around those years even tho the success was a few years later. We had such a good team, oozing class and a great, ahead of his time Manager, in Pleat.

A well deserved call up to the Poland squad for Michal Helik and Daryl Dike called up for the USA.

Southend are second bottom of the football league and have a current Ugandan international.

Quite a few non league players turning out for some of the smaller Caribbean nations as well. Haven’t the gumption to go and work it out myself but that would be my bet as to finding the lowest club with an international representative.

We - Belize - play Haiti on Wednseday evening in a World Cup Qualifier. Our team arrived in Haiti today and on the way from the airport to their hotel were prompltly held up at gunpoint by a fake Police Security check point. :-/

Anyway. One of our players has been called up from the UK Armed Forces Club. They play in the Kentish Cup? Thats gotta be a low step league as i never even heard of it

Lol. How the hell would you know that ;-)
Follow a Southend fan from uni on twitter, he liked a tweet about the guy getting called up yesterday and it was on my timeline.

Joe Morrell, whose been discussed on the summer ‘21 thread currently playing for Wales as an early sub for Joe Allen. Be interesting to see how he gets in given his issues here! Playing in a 343 alongside ampadu.

Alan Browne has just bagged for Ireland, set up by ex-PNE man, Callum Robinson.

Molumby also starting for them who is on loan to us from Brighton.

Another ex-PNE man in Daryl Horgan on the bench who now plays for Wycombe.

Collins got a goal for Ireland, typical Collins type goal more through endeavour, hassling and just bloody will to score a goal than of quality but very pleased for him as hes got a bit of abuse of the Irish for his performances for them, a touch unfairly i have felt.

Morrell struggled a bit but you cant really draw much from that given the midfield he was up against but it did kind of show again why hes not played much for us, in games were you wont have much of the ball he just isnt very effective. Thought he should have got out quicker to stop the first goal, but its Kevin De Bruyne so wouldn't have made much difference probably!

Pukki at the double for Finland again, but not enough for them to get three points against Bosnia. I'm sure they'll use him in the next qualifier, but hopefully they rest him for the friendly at the end of the break.

Meanwhile, Onel Hernandez has been named on the bench for Cuba's game against Guatemala tonight, though he apparently only made it into Guatemala very late due to flight delays in Mexico (courtesy of volcanic ash, it seems). Hopefully he can get some minutes to earn a historic debut for a non-domestic Cuban international.

I was working in Dublin in the run up and on his debut back in late 2019. The flak he got locally was extremely unfair. Very much a #teamslikeluton thing going on there that a player playing for us couldn't possibly be good enough.

Aaron Connolly at the time was seen as the saviour and the media outcry when Collins was selected ahead of him was apparent - clearly he's got great potential, but I've seen nothing to suggest that he's better than a decent Championship striker. He has missed, like Collins, some unbelievable chances for Brighton this season.

Connolly seems to score some good goals but misses the easy ones someone like Collins would score.

The Irish fans are probably looking for the next Robbie Keane rather than Shane Long.

Don't know how many of our Internationals will actually play tbh.

Bachmann might get a game against Scotland but Austria seem to have their full squad now having originally not been able to select their Germann based players.

Cathcart will probably start for NI which will do him good to get some game time.

Sean Maguire was actually class before his hamstrings fell to bits, looked every bit a £10m-£15m player.

Now he looks closer to L1 level and has had to change his game entirely, that pace and sharpness has completely gone.

He'd have been a regular for Ireland, no doubt.

Just googled Maguire as I didn’t know too much about his career outside of him playing for you and apparently he was born in Luton. The more you know!

Hanley on the scoresheet for Scotland tonight with a header. Would be good if he could get one on target for us one of these days; he seems to do very well at getting himself on the end of our attacking corners and free kicks, but he does equally well at putting his effort off target almost every time.

Pukki with a late equaliser for Finland tonight to bring him within two goals of being Finland's joint all-time top goalscorer. Meanwhile, Hernandez has gotten a goal on his first start for Cuba (though, not enough to stop them from losing and being eliminated from the qualifiers already).

Whilst none of ours seemed to have played in the European games

Probably not a bad thing but hopefully will be back ok for Friday.

Troost Ekong and Masina did play for Nigeria and Morocco respectively keeping clean sheets.

Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands both called up players from English 10th tier clubs.

As has already been mentioned, Daryl Horgan has been called up by Ireland (though hasn’t played in either of their games).

A player in our B-team, Andre Burley, played for the mighty St Kitts & Nevis last week.

We had 2 called up for African games that weren’t allowed to go for quarantine reasons - Uche Ikpeazu (Uganda) and loanee Admiral Muskwe (Zimbabwe).
