Clash of the mighty Ipswich against present over-achievers Brighton. We're searching for a 6th straight win, whilst Brighton were dumped out the cup last night by Walsall.

Home banker then right...? If only it was that simple!

Confident we won't lose the game at PR, fancy us to just about have enough.

2-0 COYB's

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
A certain Mr Pitman has enjoyed scoring aginst Brighton down the years.

Worth a pound on a goal any time perhaps.

Pele and Eusebio to get a brace for Ipswich, LuaLua to get a late goal back for Brighton.

Home win, Brighton haven't exactly had the toughest opening fixtures

I'm a real fan of what McCarthy is building at Ipswich. He's got a solid squad working for him, and he hasn't done it just by spunking money.

Brighton have started well, but I expect them to struggle like most teams will at Portman Road this season.

I'll go for 2-0.

Yep, expect it'll be a 'back down to earth' sort of game. We're looking high on confidence and defensively pretty solid, but it doesn't come much tougher than a trip to Portman Road, they've made it a real fortress over the past year or two. 3-1 Ipswich.

I'd take the ugliest, most undeserved draw right now if offered, to keep the unbeaten run going and keep with the pacesetters. Thinking it unlikely though.

I feel confident going into any home game; even though Brighton have started the season as well as Ipswich I think we can win. Probably another tight one though, I reckon 2-1.

Berra's out of this game, and the next few. Balls.

We'll be fine, Smith and Chambers have had history of working well together.

Who's the right-back that'll come in then, if Chambers shifts back across to centre-half, and will he be able to deal with LuaLua? Could be just a smidgen of hope for us.

That and Zamora's in the squad for us for the first time tomorrow. Be great to see him come off the bench and make an impact.

Will likely be Emmanuel, played twice this season, played first game against Brentford and put a very good shift in for a 17 year old!

Emmanuel - Smith - Chambers - Knudsen...

Berra out is a blow for sure but Josh doesn't worry me, he's started his Town career very well and he knows this is a big opportunity to stake a real claim. Lua Lua has the ability to trouble him but no more so than he has the ability to trouble most defenders. Could be a good (and key) battle.

Hope Bialkowski is back in- I know he's in the 16 so hopefully Mick gives him the nod ahead of Gerken.

I figure Brighton will need to score at least twice to get anything from this. We'll see...

TEAM NEWS: Gerken, Emmanuel, Chambers, Smith, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Fraser, Maitland-Niles, Pitman, Sears

SUBS: Bialkowski, Malarczyk, Kenlock, Tabb, Coke, Toure, McGoldrick.

Gerks give the nod ahead of Bart who is on the bench, disappointed with that.

Pitman in for the usual choice of McGoldrick who is on the bench, probably after the 120 minutes of cup football he played.

It's still a great side, Gerken doesn't inspire me with confidence though which perhaps puts more emphasis on young Emmanuel keeping Lua Lua quiet.

Can definately see goals, I think Fraser and Niles will cause problems on the wings throughout.

Work to be done! I can see us getting plenty of joy if we get the ball into the final third, though.

An absolute joke that Brighton still have 11 men on the pitch. Stonewall second booking.

Not been good enough! Sears shot that fizzed past the post is the one and only bit of creativity from us this half.

Would like to be a fly on the wall for Micks HT team talk.

We need to go for it in the second half, McGoldrick on for Douglas for me... 4-3-3. Only other option Mick will consider is sticking with 4-4-2 and taking Pitman off around '55.

Edit; Looks like McGoldrick at least..he's continued to warm up alongside Malarczyk.

Malarcyzk on for Emmanuel, Niles off for McGoldrick... so it's 4-3-3.

2-2 McGoldrick from the penalty spot. End to end game, fantastic watch this.

That's the sixth game in a row we've scored 2 goals. Could do with a third!

COME ON IPSWICH

2-3 fuck sake come on Town!

A disappointing end to a very watchable game, I felt we ran out of ideas in the last 15 minutes.. went very direct and whilst we had plenty of hustle & bustle but rarely threatened in truth. The timing of the third goal was crucial, if they hadn't scored so quickly I imagine we'd have gone on to win the game.

Credit to Brighton, they didn't give us a moment to think on the ball, very impressive away performance. We won't lose more than 1 or 2 more at Portman Road all season so it's quite an achievement. Deservedly top of the league tonight.

Today was a play off for Manager of the Month surely so Hughton will now win this. Blessing in disguise maybe?

I really think that McGoldrick should have started but considering he played the whole 120 minutes on Tuesday, that wasn't happening. In hind sight, he should have come off for Sears but IIRC, an injury forced our last change at Doncaster so maybe out of Mick's hands?

We move on, was never going to win every game. A bit disappointing to hear Brighton get through our defence so easily, expected the Chambo-Smith partnership to be a rock. Was that because Brighton really are good or were we just poor?

We weren't great at the back in all honestly, but Brighton were clinical at times.

Thought Brighton's position so far was somewhat false but that's an impressive win. Big statement

Yep, absolutely elated with that result, gutted I had other things on this weekend as it would've been amazing to have been there. What a friggin' start from Hughton and the boys!

I haven't even seen highlights yet, but sounds like we were terrible at the back. Still, kept up our record of scoring two every game and if we keep doing that then we're not going to lose many.

Did Malarczyk play CB or RB when he came on? How did he look?
