IIRC Leyton Orient had covid issues similar to us last season resulting in games being postponed, and like us seemed to have never recovered from that.

Appleton leaving us by mutual consent. I'd heard a couple of things right at the beginning of March that the Club and him were thinking of parting ways at the season end, so not as much of a surprise to me as it will be for others.

Don't expect it to be too long before is successor is announced, the wheels started turning a while back.

Yeah i've heard some murmurings about Appleton, shame as i really like him as a manager and his analysis after a game. Will be interesting to see who is next,, no idea on who is available.

Good to have you back Luke!

Yeah seems interviews have already been taking place with the England u19’s head coach Ian Foster being mentioned.
Our South African chairman and our American investor are both in Lincoln currently so would expect a pretty swift appointment.
Yes we overachieved last season and we've loads and loads of injuries (another yesterday! ) this season but something hasn't been right this season, team selections have had me baffled more than once.

I think we'll see a few changes behind the scenes as well. Performances on the pitch, injury record and recruitment have all been alarmingly poor this season. I suspect Jez George's arse is nipping a bit, especially if the paper talk about us potentially bringing the Shamrock manager over with his Director of Football is true.

We've appointed Rotherham's Performance and Medicine guy as Head of Performance here, which probably ties in with Mike Hine apparently going to Portsmouth back under Cowley.

We have replaced Ross Burbeary with Brent Dickinson from Forest.
See below :-

"BRENT DICKINSON is leaving Nottingham Forest after eight years to become Senior Performance Coach at Rotherham United.

The move comes after Head of Performance and Medicine Ross Burbeary left The Millers to join Lincoln City. Dickinson joined Forest in June 2014 as Head of Academy Strength and Conditioning and was promoted to first team Head of S&C in November 2020.

Head of Medical Stephen Gilpin has replaced Burbeary as Head of Performance and Medicine at Rotherham."

You have got a diamond with Ross, he single handedly built the backroom staff and our fitness stats are amazing (3rd behind Bayern Munich and Leeds in the whole of Europe in a study earlier this season).
There's been no mention of why he has decided to leave but he apparently has left with the blessing of Paul Warne and a glowing tribute to his work here.

Expect a very healthy fit team next season

Jez George starting to get found out at your place then? If he had his way you'd be after Bonner.

The last 2 windows have been very hit and miss to say the least . giving players a 3 year contract and then sitting on them for 3 and months during an injury crisis and then for said player to come on in the final day and score the winner might give you an idea. JG rated him and clearly MA didn't been obvious for a while.
Sounds like he could go if the bloke from Ireland gets the job as he wants to bring his own staff.

Tbf, Hakeeb has been pretty stinking this season.

Does seem a confusing recruitment set-up we've got at the minute, though. We've had some signings that were clearly Appleton ones (Maguire, Edun, Scully, Bridcutt, Johnson, Palmer, Griffiths as examples) and then the others seem a a hybrid of the recruitment team identifying them and Appleton giving the green light and then ones where it was probably suggested Appleton could have coached and done something with, but couldn't for whatever reason. We've not quite got it right yet.

It's not just Jez, it's him, the scout, manager etc so they all need to take some responsibility in it all over the last two or three transfer windows. Maybe Appleton required a high level of player to improve further, which to do with a full squad would have been too expensive for us, who knows?

Not quite sure how it'll all fit if McPhail comes across as part of the Irish management team because he does over there what Jez does here by the looks of it.

Jez actually seems to be doing very well with the work in the Academy. We'll have 8 or so home-grown players on pro contracts next season, albeit most will probably head out on loan at some point after pre-season. Seems to be one of our more promising batch of youngsters but we've had a fair amount of groups who have done the business quite easily up to U18's and struggled to step up!

He needs to be away from his mates to perform IMO.

Talk in the Irish press is you would go for the full package - Bradley as the manager, Mcphail as Sporting Director and former players and coaches Joey O’Brien and Shane Robinson. Shamrock Rovers are the biggest team in Ireland with regular European football, so would be a coup if you pulled it off.

His most recent performances were improving IMHO, MK Dons, was superb and at Sunderland played a huge part again in helping us win, Saturday comes on get the winner , unfortunately then Swansea youngsters arrived and he sits on the bench for 3 and half months during a massive injury crisis, it was obvious Appleton preferred the Swansea duo , Maguire etc over him.

Thanks. Sounds like he's been given the go ahead to completely re-do the S&C area of the Club and build his own team (which, up to this season, has actually been very good since 2016).

Steven Bradley has decided to stay at Shamrock, sounds like he wants to compete a bit better in Europe with them and that seems to be the missing piece of the puzzle before he'll think about moving on.

Would have been a big move from the League of Ireland to L1, so perhaps he also thinks he's not quite ready for it yet from a coaching point of view, not all his staff wanted to come across etc.

Wonder who else is on the list? Heard Ian Foster, but no one else. Then again, im not social media or any other forums, so its no surprise

Very little gets out from the Club anymore. I'm sure he actually spoke to us even though his statement just said it was an expression of interest.

That said, the Irish media were really pushing it, it was almost as though they were willing it to happen and hoping it'd raise the profile of Irish managers so maybe it didn't quite get to that point. Seems weird to put an official approach if we didn't think there was a very good chance of it happening.

But, with the Cowley and Appleton appointments, the Club used smokescreens so maybe that's the case again...

Tend to agree with you Luke, until Tuesday Wednesday it was all Foster, in fact a few people told he was our top choice then all of sudden Bradley appeared from nowhere, as you say lead by the Irish media and one guy in particular. Is Bradley this times smokescreen?
Why bloody Ferguson is so high on the list is beyond me as Clive just wouldn't appoint him.

Dan McDonnell is the best journo over there, think they were convinced he would go.
Paul O'Hehir just copies and pastes from everyone else.
Neil O'Riordan supports their Rivals Bohemians so maybe hoping he would :)

Our odds have been flitting between Ian Burchnall (Notts County), Ian Foster (England U19's) and Mark Kennedy (Birmingham City assistant or coach, can't remember which) but Michael Carrick has gone from 33/1 to evens in the last hour.

I don't take too much notice of the odds because it doesn't take too much money to fluctuate the market but that kinda movement, so quickly is unusual.

Within hours of confirming promotion there is speculation that our manager is being lined up to replace Roy Hodgson at Watford...I know that the press make up rubbish to fill their pages and sell newspapers...but I feel this would be a bit of a big jump too early, but hey, what do I know?

Ours is in there as well. Of all the clubs in the football league, Watford has to be up there at the top of managerial graveyards. No sane bloke would go there unless it was for a nice little payday when he got sacked in six months.

Nice little earner if you get a 3 year deal then sacked after 8 games

Even our own fans say that !

He’d never get time to do anything long term .

Even if we got promoted based on this season would be sacked after a bad start .
