Well at least that's one we can cross off our list.

Chris Wilder now 5/2 favourite which demonstrates that nobody really knows what's going on. Wilder has expressed an interest but I reckon he'd turn tail pretty sharpish when he sees our transfer budget. Don't think it would match his ambitions.

Bradbury has shot up in the odds.

DC has dropped off to 16/1

Yes, the odds are all over the place, reflecting a market without much money in it, and a bunch of people who think they've been tipped off by someone "in the know".

I can't see Bradbury being a realistic contender. He's been rattling around local non-league teams for quite a while. Would reflect a stunning lack of ambition if it happens.

Aye, manager markets outside the top Premier League teams are notoriously easy to manipulate. Of the names mentioned it would be some coup if you could get Wilder. Got a great track record and been promoted from this league before.

I saw that some Aberdeen lads had all chipped in a fiver each on their mate and managed to get him as fourth favourite for the job at one point.

If we did land Wilder, we would take over as BarrieOwl's most hated club in this division. It's not worth it. And for that reason, I'm out!

What a bizarre football club!

At this rate Martin Allen’s going to have to go back for another spell in charge of Barnet if he wants to keep his “boomerang manager” record…

The appointment of the “new” gaffer seems to have split the Posh fans straight down the middle, many are saying this is a farce but quite a few also think that at least Ferguson knows the club, has a track record of promotion, the job wouldn’t have appealed to anyone better etc.

https://londonroad.net/Forum/showthread.php?tid=21200&page=39

(the above thread used to be the “McCann out” thread then got repurposed when he got sacked, which is why it doesn’t start about Ferguson till page 39)

It's a weird relationship that Ferguson and Posh have isn't it? Mind boggling that they've gone back for him again for a fourth time, especially in relatively quick succession as well. Even more weird that Grant McCann has been manager twice in recent times and caretaker at times as well!

Shame about Cowley, I thought he'd be able to get through to the end of the season. Portsmouth fans will be able to fill me in, but does their budget reflect the size of the Club? I mean, they're a decent size for this level but is the expectation around them higher than the budget realistically allows them to be without overperforming?

Not sure what they'll do next but I can't see him cropping up anywhere until the summer at the earliest, they're really not keen on joining sides mid-season. Despite the Huddersfield and Portsmouth spells, they still retained decent win percentages at both and steered Huddersfield clear of relegation so I think they'll get another crack at a decent sized Club. Can't see them being enticed to L2 level unless perhaps Wrexham come calling.

Nah despite what Sky might have said, our budget is top six if you read between the lines of what the CEO has said. Ultimately, Cowley said to judge him after three windows and after that, we still don't know what his style of play is supposed to be and I don't think he knew what his strongest eleven was. Tactically found wanting and unable to motivate players when confidence was low, ultimately I think this job was too big for him.

Anthony Barry is the current favourite for the job and I had to look him up. Despite his decent coaching CV, I'm not sure he's what we need right now. I'd love to see Wilder here but don't think it'll happen. Leam Richardson is the obvious choice as he knows the club, was reluctant to leave and join Cook at Wigan and although he spent a lot of money to win L1 last season, he also kept Wigan up the season before when they were nailed on for relegation.

I'm not convinced our budget was inside the top 6. There's been lots of soundbites from our CEO denying it is 12th and commenting that it is enough to be in and around the play-offs. I'd hazard 7-10th, but in reality we're talking small margins outside of probably three or four teams.

Remember we sold £900k worth of players in Harness and Bass, and shed the historic high earners from the Jackett era. I never thought our business this summer reflected that, Bishop apart.

As for the Cowley's, I think they could possibly take the Swindon job given that they have only recently established their families in the area, and it is commutable.

Now in 2nd half of season pressure intensifies on team managers to win matches in attractive manner.
Already there has been seven changes with Burton, Derby, Exeter, Charlton, MK Dons, Peterboro & Portsmouth making changes since August.
Currently the managers are: -

Who is next can possibly be gauged by league position. Usually the higher up table the more secure a manager might feel. The promotion / relegation betting odds might therefore indicate a managers future career (or not)

One must wonder whether Swindon dismissed Scott Lindsey knowing the Cowley brothers were available !?

Would be an odd one in that Swindon's football style over recent couple of seasons has been different to Cowley style! Garnerball to Cowley bombardment is somewhat different!

Yeah I can't see our owners going down that route. More likely to be another under 23 academy manager than anyone with 'proper' managerial experience.

How about a manager working locally with recent league 1 experience and top flight experience abroad?

Think the 2 that fit for the profile of more fanny football are Manning and Leam Richardson - but he may be a bit too pricey.

Burchnall is a perfect fit for Swindon in that he’s a modern footballing type of coach who managed abroad, and if nothing else if he didn’t work out it would give Robins fans more chance to keep moaning about how ineffective and lightweight they are, which going by the ones I know is a favourite pastime.

Cowley bombardment is a bit unfair. He didn't really play that way here, although I know he has in the past. With us, he tried a high press, high energy approach. It still wasn't all that easy on the eye though granted. Just didn't want you picturing us as a team of giants. Absolutely not the case.
