As part of my college studies, I am undertaking an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) into the historic and modern safety controls for English and Welsh football. I aim to determine if they are adequate to protect the safety of supporters without ruining the experience.

I am conducting a survey to gather supporter opinions and details on how safety controls impact the match day experience. I would really appreciate your time in completing my survey which will only take 5 minutes of your time.

You can find my survey here: http://www.survey.ryanoleary.co.uk/

I'm probably not a good person to complete your survey as I don't attend football matches.

However, from watching football on TV a couple of things come to mind that I suggest you might look into.

Firstly, you might review the Safety Of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and the amendments that have been added down the years. Also relevant would be the Taylor Report that followed the Hillsborough tragedy which led to a major re-think of football stadia. You might also like to read the Guide to Safety In Sports Stadiums, known as the Green Guide, which has no statutory authority but provides guidelines on spectator safety. You might like to examine these and assess how relevant you think they are today.

Secondly, there is a growing move in football for so-called "Safe Standing" which many fans are calling for. Many fans now ignore the seats available to them and watch matches standing up anyway. As a safety issue I would suggest it is something you should consider for your project.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your advice, I'll take a look at the Green Guide. The Taylor Report most likely be the main focus of my report as it was so influential, but I'll be sure to use what you have suggested.
