We weren't great but I wouldn't go so far to say we proved we can't be a top 7 side. We've played better than that, just need to be more consistent. Of our five league defeats this season, three have come off the back of uncharacteristically poor performances. Today was also poor but we got a point, and we weren't great against Barnet but won, that's five poor games. The rest of the season, we've been pretty good, including the defeat at Plymouth, and apart from that Plymouth game and the Northampton game, we've typically been the better team on the day.

In the build up to our equaliser, I was heard to say, 'Atkinson won't shoot, Atkinson won't shoot, he's never taken a shot in his life' (passes to Grainger) ' Grainger might!' (shoots, scores).

Also, while I got talking with a group of Portsmouth fans in Moo and thought they were a good bunch, nothing gives me greater pleasure that shutting up a set of fans who bring a bell to a match. I know Pompey were the original team with a bell, it's supposed to be from a ship probably, but these days everyone south of Hereford and outside of London has a bell.

We've conceded 10 goals in our last 5 games. There's not a cat in hells chance of us making the top 7 if that continues.

It's frustrating because we've got that many goals in our team, it's obvious that even if we only had an average defence we'd probably be a top side. But we've been saying it all season and nothing is changing, the goals are still flying into our net.

We're still only two points and places below the play-offs though, can't write off anybody down to Morecambe in 15th. A couple of wins on the bounce and you're right in the mix.

I thought Kennedy had a good game again yesterday, playing like he did last season the last few games I've seen him.

Just seen the highlights again, and the build-up for our first is brilliant.

Oh yeah we'll probably pop in now and then, but we won't stay in until we sort out a bit of consistency and stop giving 2 or 3 goals away every week.

I hate football.

Yeah it's cruel but we've had worse done to us, you could of lost a deserved win thanks to TWO last minute goals.

I'll never forget that one. :ffs:

If you think we totally deserved a draw today, I want some of whatever you've been smoking.

Portsmouth only really threatened our goal in the first 10 minutes, long after that they scored the two goals and that was just about it in terms of chances they had. Just because they had the vast majority of possession in the first half doesn't mean that we don't deserve anything. They were good at keeping hold of the ball and quite hard to break down, but thanks to our persistence up to the final whistle we managed to get a point.

Oh yeah we'll probably pop in now and then, but we won't stay in until we sort out a bit of consistency and stop giving 2 or 3 goals away every week.

I reckon that if it wasn't for those same old silly mistakes of our players slipping over at the back then we'd be higher up the table, it's so amateurish and they're the sort of mistakes that at professional level should only ever happen once in a blue moon.

Well I am going to slate the approach even though others try to defend it.

firstly people 'claim' it was a solid defensive display. for all we played 9-0-1 for the entire game, they should have had 3 maybe 4 goals in the first 15 minutes, they should....100% have had a penalty second half and of course they scored 2 goals. I make that therefore we could easily........easily have conceded 6 goals on Saturday.

Good defensive displays do not see you possibly concede 6 goals in my own personal view. I may be wrong and of course conceded 4-6 goals a game is actually great defending, I know we've been that shocking at back for so long that people think its solid if we only concede 2 goals but still I thought for the mass of numbers we had back we were in no way, shape or form any better defensively than usual.

In turn our attack was non-existent, we created in that first 70 minutes 2 chances, both in the second half (I do not count a gift pen from the ref as a chance) so all we had was a shot at back post for Gilliead and a hooks Jabo chance both early in second half.

We were 100% on for a certain defeat with an appalling display due to our approach to that game on Saturday on 70 minutes we were behind, had created nothing and could have conceded 6 goals.

and people claim Portsmouth are world beaters.....they will be up at the top but we could have made ANYONE look world beaters on sat when you just sit back off them for the entire game with no closing down, limited marking, no movement, no support going forward etc, etc.

I find it worrying for 2 games in a row we've been extremely negative and totally ineffective.............hoping this changes on Tuesday.

They could've scored 2-3 early on, but they didn't. A bit of luck and good goalkeeping ensured this. Similar to the Barnet game, they could have scored 5-6 but they didn't. It was our worst home performance of the season, against one of the best teams, yet we still took a point. Hopefully we improve performance-wise in the coming games.

It's funny that after two games in a row one of our fickle fans is worried, against Bristol Rovers we had something like 6/7 key players out so it can be understood why we struggled and against Portsmouth we got a result against one of the better sides of this league. I know it wasn't pretty but not every game can be, that's football.

We have scored more goals in the division than any other team, so to think that we're extremely negative and totally ineffective is strange. If that was the case then on Saturday we would of lost convincingly without even scoring and our players would not have been bothered.

I have slated our approach to the game, but i did give positives to the changes which happened when the subs came on.

what i do not want to see is that original approach defended when we grabbed that last second equaliser when clearly that approach failed miserably on Saturday and we were behind, not looking like scoring and had conceeded 2 goals..............it did not at all work.

But it is very very good we have players to change and change games quickly.
