Wasn't sure I was going to turn up for this one knowing that the great man is injured, but then I remembered that he'll be in the posh seats, and I sit on the other side of the fence from them so I'll get to bask in his reflected glory.

Sounds like it should be a fun game, what with Carlisle's insane formation and our usual desire to keep the ball on the deck. We have a stonking record against the Cumbrians over the past few meetings (winning the last four games 4-1, 4-1, 5-1 and 4-0 respectively) so maybe that will set a precedent for a goal-fest. That said, we have lacked a bit of confidence/clinicalness in front of goal recently, so perhaps not. Looks like our resident head-on-a-stick striker Paul McCallum has picked up a bad injury, so former Mansfield favourite Ollie Palmer should retain his place in the side. I just hope Hendon ditches the diamond for this one and provides a bit of extra cover down the flanks.

Our form has been a bit dodgy (though performances have been better than the results), but I think we'll scrape the right side of a 3-2 here.

Was hoping to get to this one, instead I will be spending the evening in High Wycombe via West Ruislip.

I've predicted some losses and draws recently, however I'm going for a 5-1 battering of Carlisle. Simpson x 3, Palmer, Baudry.

Palmer - Simpson
Cox - Payne - Pritchard - Turgott
Shaw - Essam - Baudry - Clohessy

Hopefully our failure to score against Newport was just a blip... a terrible and tragic blip.

Like yourselves, we're a bit obsessed with passing the ball around on the deck. We sometimes overplayed it against Newport, like a lower-league Arsenal trying to walk the ball into the net. We also seemed to have developed this tactic of 'pass it to Troy and let him run into the attacking third', though our crossing is usually much better than it was against Newport, hopefully Grainger (never thought I'd say this) returns to the side, as well as Miller or McQueen... or Miller and McQueen and not Grainger, I don't know, all three of those players are more dangerous in wide areas than Brough or Thompson were yesterday.

Bench: Hanford, McQueen, Brough, Osei, Dicker, Balanta, Asamoah

McQueen, Osei and Asamoah as potential impact players, lots of pace on that bench should it be required later on.

Ibehre and Wyke out, Troy getting his usual mid-week rest, deprives us of three of our most vital players... hopefully Atkinson ready to return though.

Think we'll get hammered here, probably a similar game to the Plymouth one where we started well but cause we can't defend we'll concede 4+.

Without Jabo, we have no height up front and we have no physical presence. It'll probably be Asamoah up front alone. I'd stick Raynes up front.

Team:
Gillespie

Miller
Raynes
Grainger

McQueen
Dicker
Joyce
Sweeney
Kennedy

Gillead

Asamoah

6-1 defeat.
Cox x3, Simpson x2, Palmer
Sweeney

I also think we'll get a hiding here.

We are a fucking terrible team. We've got away with being absolutely shambolic by having a clinical striker. Now that is gone for the time being, this is where we'll get exposed for the shower of shite that we are. Fair enough I missed a good performance at Anfield, but in terms of the league we are terrible, just marginally all round less terrible than last season which is why we won't go down. We will never keep a clean sheet in this league, so now that our goal machine is out we will struggle big time.

I'm thinking 3 or 4-0 to Orient.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I personally think we will lose 3 of the next 4 games and that is when the sh*t will hit the fan with a lot of our fanbase. Felt that for the last 2 weeks that we were hitting a tough run of games and its why I was extremely frustrated with our horrendous attitude to the last week..............for me we could not, could not at all afford to just assume we're now good enough to not worry about dropping points here and there, that move could cost us dearly come November, but its up to our side to finally prove they have moved on from strugglers in this run here.

Like the Orient trip though so in a way wish I could have gone, it is on my fave away days list, plus plenty of history between the clubs, given the usual age range of people on this forum I'd expect this has been the most regular fixture for most of the Carlisle or Orient posters here, some good for us, the 6-1 win, the 3-0 win at Orient, and some good for Orient, well namely any recent fixture.

Jabo out is a big worry, but my current fear is we simply are not creating many chances anymore. We created about 4 good chances Vs Barnet, 3 Vs Dagenham, only 2 vs York and maybe if I'm kind 3 Vs Newport (and 2 of them in desperation) We have been fortunate that we can be extremely clinical in attack so most of the chances have gone in which grabbed us points but I worry because with our very open, expansive game which will always leak goals we should be at least putting pressure on the opposition most of the game (in a high risk way) and if we start missing these handful of chances we'll slump.

Hopefully a new striker today, I like the Newcastle lad and I like asamoah, but they clearly could not gel on Saturday and cannot go with that.

Far be it from me to remind you that I said you were one dimensional......:ohy:

That's not gloating by any means but a player like Jabo hurling himself in to twenty crunch tackles a game was always going to get injuries.

Is it really all doom and gloom? What happened to Charlie Wyke? He's got touches of class? Asamoah's notched a couple for you hasn't he? Tommy Miller lost his shooting boots?

Charlie Wyke broke his foot. Another few weeks left on the sidelines.

I'm just not confident going up against Orient, we've conceded 17 in our last 4 meetings against them. I'd have predicted a loss with Jabo in the team anyway, I just can't see us getting anything.

Wyke is still injured, which is a shame as he'd started to pick up form. Asamoah is alright, but he's got no presence when up front alone. Curle will probably revert to the 3-6-1 used in the cup against QPR and Liverpool.

To be fair, Asamoah notched against both as a lone man up front, then struggled against Newport when paired with Gillead. Mind you it's a reminder of the crazy times we're living in at Brunton Park these days when 'only likely to score one' is a criticism.

Asamoah will get a hat-trick now... it'll be 3-3

Carlisle probably going to have a half time celebration party at getting there still 0-0. Orient having 'one of those days' in front of goal. Again.

Half time means jack shit. If it's still 0-0 at full time then yeah we pop open the champagne because we're so shit that getting a point at Orient would be a footballing miracle, not to mention a clean sheet.

We are shit, absolutely shit. It's laughable that after 3 wins in a row some of our fans started talking about promotion and playoffs :ffs::lol:

Newport being 0-2 down at home to Crawley just highlights how utterly abysmal we are at the moment.

It has been very, very one-sided. But if we keep cocking up the final ball like we have been all night you'll get the 0-0.

Makes a change. Usually it's us doing all the attacking and leaving ourselves totally wide open for teams to expose our useless defence.

I suppose I should be pleased that we're actually bothering to attempt to defend. Still, a clean sheet would be a miracle for this team. I can't remember the last one.

Nope, we're still too shit defensively. We have goals in our team, we are clinical and take our chances so if we can improve defensively we'd have a chance. But st the moment we're a bit off, we need to back up these types of results, so we'll see on Saturday.

I'll watch it back Thursday, but I am now getting concerned. I'm imagining our attacking play has involved a lot of crosses as per - I'll drag out the actual crossing stat when I dig it up, but it's something like 1 in every 270 crossing attempts results in a goal.

I'm not really made up with dropping James - of course I have no idea if that impacted today - but I am very concerned with our lack of depth. We're relying on a couple of kids to come on for plan B...
